Race 1: NATURAL BODY & BEAUTY CLINIC BM65 H’CAP – 1560M
 
The start of this race was delayed slightly when TRIPLE JEOPARDY proved difficult to load.
 
OPTION – Had to be steadied upon straightening when disappointed for a run and then had to shift out to improve. Laid out slightly under pressure over the final 100m.
 
TRIPLE JEOPARDY – Proved difficult to load. Restrained after being caught wide in the early stages to take up a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field.
 
 
Race 2: MAN ABOUT MENSWEAR CLASS 2 PLATE – 1200M
 
CORNISH TALES – Slightly hampered passing the 200m when MISHANI LA SCALA laid out away from SIR VAN DYKE when that runner shifted out to improve.
 
KAHUNA – After leading in the early stages the gelding commenced to weaken after passing the 500m and hung out.
 
PROANE – Began awkwardly and then raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SIR VAN DYKE – Stewards acceded to a request by trainer T. Bannon that the horse, which had been advertised to race in a cross-over nose band but had not previously raced with that gear, be allowed to race without that gear. A public announcement was made to this effect.
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 

 
 
 
Race 3: IBIS MACKAY MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed when LEGAL LOOPHOLE broke through the barriers, was returned to the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
DELUXE EDITION – Slightly inconvenienced on jumping.
 
DRUMEOUS – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and did so for a considerable distance before being retired from the event. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
GOLIATH – Began awkwardly and then raced ungenerously in the early stages, hanging out from a point passing the 800m.
 
KEGSY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LEGAL LOOPHOLE – Became fractious in the barriers after being reloaded.
 
NAUGHTY CORNER – Slightly inconvenienced passing the 200m when GOLIATH shifted out to improve. J. Stanley, the rider of GOLIATH, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
PROFOUND CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: SEVEN MACKAY BM55 H’CAP – 1800M
 
KAPHNI – Slow to begin and then raced three wide without cover until passing the 1000m when forced into a four-wide position by PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE, which shifted out to improve.
 
PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE – Shifted into a three-wide position to improve passing the 1000m.
 
HIERARCHAL – Rider C. Whiteley was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip.
 
ARMS RACE – Raced three wide without cover after passing the 1300m.
 
LOLLIPOP ROCKET – Laid out over the final 100m.
 
STAR FROM HEAVEN – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: TAYLORS SOLICITORS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1050M
 
CYCLONE FUGITIVE – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery.
 
GINGERSNAP – Blundered on jumping and then shortly after laid in away from MARSEILLE ROULETTE, which shifted in.
 
MIA HOST – Bumped by GINGERSNAP passing the 900m when that runner laid in.
 
BEAU JET – Performed slightly disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities other than showing signs of a poor post-race recovery.
 
MARSEILLE ROULETTE – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 800m and then raced three wide with cover for the remainder of the event.
 
LUCKY CLOVER – When questioned regarding the tactics she adopted, C. Jokic stated that her instructions were to race in a forward position, in accordance with the horse’s usual racing pattern. She said that after beginning fairly and failing to muster speed the mare raced at the rear of the field. Jockey Jokic added that in her opinion the mare may have resented the tongue tie, which was applied for today’s event. Trainer R. Vale concurred with jockey Jokic’s comments and said he felt the mare may have resented the tongue tie and therefore he will be removing that gear prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
 
Race 6: MCDONALD MURPHY MACHINERY QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1050M
 
 YOU KNOW THE ONE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA ZED – Fractious in the barriers and then raced four wide without cover for the entire event. Returned to the enclosure with blood in its offside nostril. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have a laceration in the nostril and blood in both nostrils.The veterinary surgeon’s opinion was that the blood was attributed and deemed to have been due to external trauma and no further action was taken.
