Race 1: MACKAY CASINO NIGHTS BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1050m
Real Deal McNeill – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils in running. This being the 1st episode Trainer Ms. G Bell was advised the mandatory 3months ban would apply and further that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m satisfactorily in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race. AR79.
Authentic Swing – When questioned in relation to the improved performance Trainer Mr. I Shaw advised that the 10yo gelding had taken some time to reach peak fitness this campaign, and, in his opinion had appreciated the inclusion of a swimming program as part of his daily work regime. Mr. Shaw further advised that, although he had expected some improvement in what on face value appeared to be weaker company, the stable had not supported the gelding in today’s race.
Race 2: IPN VALUERS MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Military Ghost – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
Chandon Kisses – Jockey M Milford was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m. AR132.
Race 3: SEVEN MACKAY CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1100m
You Know The One – The gelding which was resuming following a prolonged absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Was inconvenienced near the 800m when crowded by another runner which shifted in when not fully clear. Galloped awkwardly for a few strides when in clear running passing the 750m.
Tabbing – Shifted in near the 800m crowding another runner. Was quickly straightened to relieve pressure and in doing so bumped with a runner to its outside. Jockey M Haley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Jets Cracker – Was bumped by another runner near the 800m.
Combattant De Rue – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
Race 4: IN COGNEATO HAIR ARTISTRY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1560m
Emberspeed which was also an acceptor for Race 5 was a late withdrawal at 7.56am. Trainer Ms. T Bannon was reminded of her responsibilities under the provisions of LR36.
Fairfacts – Slowly away. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Laid in for a short distance when placed under pressure near the 250m.
Sir Van Dyke - Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
Repercharge – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
Archie’s Son – Had to be restrained after improving onto heels when the pace slackened near the 1100m.
Drumshow – Shifted out around heels of another runner which laid in near the 250m. App Ms. E Bell was fined the sum of $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. AR132.
Race 5: MOJO’S BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1300m
San Raymond – Lost ground after beginning awkwardly.
Emberspeed – Over-raced in the early stages.
Last Chance – Raced in restricted room in the middle stages.
Stone Warrior – Restrained off heels near the 800m.
