Race 1: TAB QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1100m
 
ALEYSA’S DREAM – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, contacting OUR STORMY GIRL.
 
OUR STORMY GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, contacting ALEYSA’S DREAM.
 
REAL ANA – Jumped away awkwardly, contacting the outside barrier partition, and was hampered shortly after jumping away. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of REAL ANA in relation to its barrier manners.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
GRAND TRICK – Hung in throughout the event. Trainer J. Doolan was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of GRAND TRACK in relation to hanging. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: Modure Constructions QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1300m
 
SUNNY COWBOY – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 600m. Became awkwardly placed on heels inside the final 100m and as a result jockey S. Wilson was unable to fully test his mount to the finish.
 
VAMPARINA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 1100m when attempting to shift out whilst overracing.
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of BOOTS ‘N’ AWE after his mount attempted to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so.
 
GOLDIE’S ARCHER – Rider B. Appo reported that his mount hung out throughout the event. He added he advised trainer W. Winters that, in his opinion, GOLDIE’S ARCHER would benefit from the removal of winkers and the addition of a lugging bit prior to any future race start.  A post race veterinary examination  revealed GOLDIE’S ARCHER had dislodged a tooth in running.
 
THREE STRIPES – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that after beginning  well was able to find a forward position with cover in the early stages.  Approaching the 600m when placed under pressure THREE STRIPES failed to respond to his riding and weakened noticeably in the straight. He added he became concerned with the action of THREE STRIPES over the concluding stages and as a result elected not to place the colt under pressure.  When questioned trainer R. Bowen stated that THREE STRIPES had pleased in its work leading into today’s event, but it was his intention to spell THREE STRIPES fand would look to potentially geld the horse prior to a future race start.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.  Trainer R. Bowen was advised that THREE STRIPES would be required to trial competitively in an official  barrier trial prior to a future race start. THREE STRIPES was sent for a post race sample.
 
HEY PAL – When questioned regarding HEY PAL leading in today’s event, jockey S. Wiseman stated that after being trapped wide in the early stages elected to push forward and lead rather than remaining wide throughout.  Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 3: Mojo’s Rooftop Bar Class 6 Plate – 1300m
 
RESORT – Slow into stride and raced at the tail of the field throughout.  When questioned regarding the performance, trainer J. Manzelmann stated that RESORT, which was having its first start after a spell, is better suited when racing over longer distances and it was his intention to step the gelding up to race over a mile next start.  Stewards noted his explanation however advised him that a warning would be placed on the record of RESORT in relation to its competitiveness and its future performances would be monitored when stepped up over greater distances.
 
FRATELLINO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight, and in the vicinity of the 100m was momentarily held up for a run when awkwardly placed on the heels of CINNAMON MISSILE and had to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
ONLY WANNA SING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer J. Wehlow advised that the horse would be spelled.
 
NADEEM ESPRIT – When questioned regarding the performance, rider J. Stanley reported that he was caught wide in the early stages and was unable to find cover. He added from that point NADEEM ESPRIT overraced and when asked for a finishing effort ran to the line in a disappointing manner.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. NADEEM ESPRIT was sent for a post race swab.  
 
ABSOLUT ARTIE – Jockey A. Butler pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip in that he used his whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 17 in total, and was fined $200.
 
 
Race 4: NQ Water Services Maiden H’cap – 1560m
 
TOP RUNG – On arrival at the barriers Jockey A Butler became aware that his reins had snapped and as such required a replacement bridle. After consulting Trainer p Fleming, stewards gave permission for TOP RUNG to race without a bubble cheeker as this piece of gear could not be removed from the damaged bridle.
 
ANNMARIE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
CHLOE JADE – Slow to begin.
 
ALL FOR HARRY – Overraced in the early stages.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SHAKA DIAMOND – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

 
Race 5: Payne Print Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1560m
 
IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN – After winning at Townsville on 21 May 2020, was rehandicapped to carry 58 kilograms in todays event. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
DON’T DOUBT LARA – Slow into stride. Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 1400m.
 
FEATHER YOUR NEST – Slow into stride.
 
GROOVY PLAYMATE – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
DRUMSHOW – Raced wide throughout.
 
CORPORAL – When questioned regarding the horse leading in today’s event, jockey/trainer T. Bannon stated after being trapped wide  in the early stages she elected to push forward and cross to lead, as in her opinion, there was lack of pace in the early stages.  She added that it is her intention to continue with that racing pattern going forward this preparation.  Stewards noted her explanation.
 
 
Race 6: SH Tait & Co Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1560m
 
FOLLOW ON – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin.
 
CAPTAIN TOM – Raced in restricted room and became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 1400m.
 
SIR VAN DYKE – Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 1400m to the inside of DON’T DOUBT MAEVE.
 
MISTA MAYBE – Raced wide throughout.
 
STELLA STARLITE – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey M. Haley stated that, in his opinion, STELLA STARLITE, which was up in distance from its last start win in Mackay, may not have handled the step un in distance.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ATTIQUE –  Jockey A. Butler was questioned  regarding the horse leading in today’s event.  He stated it was his intention to settle further back with cover in today’s event, but after beginning well found himself racing in the lead in a slowly run race.  He added that when asked for a response on entering the home straight his mount failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner.  Trainer A. Coome advised that he was surprised to see ATTIQUE racing in the lead and was of the opinion that the mare was not suited racing on the pace. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 7: Sidetrax Open H’cap – 1560m
 
LEVEL EIGHT - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
RESINITE – Refused to jump and took no part in the race.  Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised the horse would be quired to jump successfully in an official barrier trial prior to accepting for a future race.
 
I CAN I WILL  I AM – Laid out under pressure in  the straight.  Trainer T. Cook advised it was his intention to reapply a tongue-tie next start.
 
ELLE A WALKING – Laid in under pressure in the straight.,
 
ONEMORE EMOTION – Jockey B. Appo stated that his mount was galloped on in the vicinity of the 600m.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SHIRANDA – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that his mount weakened noticeably on entering the home straight and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HOWICK – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey C. Whiteley stated that, in his opinion, the mare raced dour in today’s event.  Trainer A. Coome stated that HOWICK may not have handled the quick step up in distance and, in his opinion, would derive benefit from today’s race.
 
 
Race 8: Smartstate Rentals Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1100m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow trainer W. Pomfrett and jockey N. Seymour to review the stewards’ patrol film of the start of the race in relation to ACT OF BRAVERY being declared a non runner.  After viewing the film, a submission was made by trainer W. Pomfrett to declare ACT OF BRAVERY a non runner due to the gelding dropping its head as the start was effected, and in that act its head  became awkwardly placed on the barrier partition, and as such was reluctant to jump with the field.  Stewards when giving consideration to the submissions were of the belief that ACT OF BRAVERY’S failing to jump was due to the horse’s own actions in dropping its head, and as such declared ACT OF BRAVERY a runner and declared correct weight.
 
CHARLIE ROCKET – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not starting in over 12 months and was passed fit to start.
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
 
ACT OF BRAVERY – Dropped its head as the start was effected and as such refused to jump. Trainer W. Pomfrett was advised that required to jump successfully in an official jump out prior to a future race start.  
 
MONKEY MAGIC – Hampered on jumping away.
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
DANCING TYCOON – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
 
Race 9: Airless Spray Service Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1100m
 
SOLOMON -  Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice  at 3.57 pm  after rearing in the barriers.  Trainer W. Pomfrett was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to any future race start, and gain a barrier certificate prior to accepting for any future race start. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.
 
10 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
16 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
CELEBRATION DAY – Slow into stride.  In the vicinity of the 600m had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of REEF MASTER. Held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 500m and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that, in his opinion, CELEBRATION DAY resented the butterfly bit and advised trainer R. Adair to change to a lugging bit prior to its next race start.
 
JUSTALAD – Jumped away awkwardly. Was momentarily inconvenienced in the vicinity of the 400m after being contacted by PRICKLES.
 
PRICKLES – In the vicinity of the 400m was contacted by JUSTALAD.
 
REEF MASTER – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
TERMINATE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 10: Taylors Solicitors Open H’cap – 1100m
 
PALLADIAN – Slow to begin.  Became awkwardly placed on heels in the vicinity of the 600m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
ART ATTACK – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run in the vicinity of the 300m and as such shifted out in an attempt to improve into clear running.
 
BOOT SHAKER – Jumped away awkwardly, contacting the outside barrier partition.
 
RED HOT ROMEO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
CRAFTY COP – Raced wide throughout. Jockey S. Wiseman accidentally dropped her whip in the vicinity of the 600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
OUR BOY PENDLES – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey C. Jokic stated that her mount travelled well in the early stages, however when asked for an effort in the vicinity of the 400m failed to respond to her riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner.  She added that it was the gelding’s first start from a spell and would derive benefit from the run.  Trainer Mr D Durand will be interviewed in relation to OUR BOY PENDLES being removed from the course prior to 30 minutes after race time.
