Jockey J. Esser pleaded guilty to a charge under 85B in that on Saturday 28/04/2018 he failed to notify Stewards he would not be attending Mount Isa Race club and as a result failed to fulfil an engagement on the day having to be subsequently replaced. Mr Esser, was fined the sum of $200.00


RACE 1: MMG DUGALD RIVER BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1450M

DENLAGO – Declared a late scratching at 1.15pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice after it became fractious in the tie up stall and slipped over.

THE KINGS’ MAGIC – Over-raced in early and middle stages of the race and was obliged to race 3 wide and when being steadied near the 600m shifted in becoming awkwardly placed on heels having to be restrained.

RACE 2: SEAFOOD NIGHT @ MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB 18 MAY BENCHMARK 65 H’AP – 1450M

NIGHT WOLF – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race. When questioned regarding the geldings performance rider D, Ballard stated the horse raced flat today and he was of the opinion it may not have backed up from its previous start. Trainer T. Parry was in agreeance with D. Ballard’s assessment and advised she will now freshen the gelding up. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

YOUR WAY OR MINE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 3: MT ISA COACHES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

RACE 4: ELDERS INSURANCE CLASS 2 PLATE – 1000M

TARGET STRIKE – Began awkwardly and blundered. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ALBERT THE ROCKET – Slow to begin.

RACE 5: BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER H'CAP – 1100M

GALEA WARRIOR – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

REBEL ROVER – Blundered on jumping.

DAMGOODCHOICE – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop riding and straighten her mount on two occasions.

ELDRICK – Trainer D. Burgess advised Stewards following the race that the gelding had struck itself during the race and had soreness in the off front leg. He further advised it is now his intention that the gelding be retired from racing. Mr Burgess, was nonetheless advised should circumstances change a veterinary clearance would be required prior the horse being permitted to race again.
