Race 4:MM FNQ UP&C STAYER/BOOTH RURAL/BAYER AUST LYNDHURST SHIELD BM60 H’CAP – 1600M
 
BURKETOWN LARRIKIN and ZEDAHEEL which were initially eliminated from today’s race at official scratching time when trainers J. Manzelmann (CATASTROPHE KISS) and Ms C. Lindgren (DUBLEO’S LAD) failed to scratch their respective runners by the required time after gaining runs and both horses not being on course, as such both runners were declared late scratching’s at 8.45am. Acting under the provisions of AR8(a) Stewards reinstated both BURKETOWN LARRIKIN and ZEDAHEEL back into the official field. Mr Manzelmann, was fined the sum of $200. Ms Lindgren, failing any further submissions will be fined the sum of $200 for failing to scratch her respective runner by the required time.   
 
Race 1: NORTH QLD TOYOTA COWBOYS ‘THE COPPERFIELD’ QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
GENERAL CHEVAL – Slow to begin.
 
RATHDOWNEY AVENUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out across heels near the 900m having to checked.
 
MISS FURY – Raced in restricted room near the 900m fir a short distance and was steadied. Raced wide from the 900m.Raced ungenerously rounding the home turn.
 
SAGRE’S POINT – Tightened for room shortly after passing the winning post having to be checked.
 
CEEBIZ KIT – Shifted in shortly after the winning post inconveniencing another runner. Rider M. Haley was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances.
 
SMOKING LADY – Was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.
 
Race 2: COLEMAN STOCK FEEDS ‘THE BANGLE’ CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M
 
VANCOUVER STAR – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to its race after competing at yesterday’s meeting and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.   
 
TWICE THE STYLE – Fractious in the barriers and bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. On returning to scale it was discovered that when the barrier staff removed the Ear Muffs in the barriers, which was required to be done, the left side reign was accidently caught in the Velcro keeper hampering the steering of the horse. A request was made by trainer P. Rowe for the gelding to be declared a nonrunner. After considering all submissions and hearing evidence from rider W. D’Avila Stewards declared TWICE THE STYLE a runner and declared correct weight on the judges numbers.
 
GREY SAMBUCA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
CRAIGLEA GHETTO – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
HOT TEMPO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.       
 
Race 3: THE COLLINS FAMILIES ‘SPRING CREEK MEMORIAL’ CLASS B H’CAP – 1000M
 
SEEKTOWIN – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to its race after competing at yesterday’s meeting and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Faltered leaving the 700m and fell dislodging rider N. Nelson. After receiving treatment on course, Ms Nelson was transported to hospital for further observation. Following a veterinary examination SEEKTOWIN was found to have fractured its off fore radius and was euthanized on humane grounds.
 
AZTEC WARRIOR – Slow to begin.
 
AMAHERO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SNEAKY SNIPER – Raced wide in the early stages of the race. Rider J. King was fined the sum of $100 in that he made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
 
BAUHINIA DROUGHT – raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: MM FNQ UP&C STAYER/BOOTH RURAL/BAYER AUST LYNDHURST SHIELD BM60 H’CAP – 1600M
 
BURKETOWN LARRIKIN – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to its race after competing at yesterday’s meeting and was cleared to start.
 
The running of this race was delayed significantly due to the incident in the previous race. Race times were amended to start: Race 4 at 3.40pm and Race 5 to be run at 4.20pm.
 
ZEDAHEEL – Was declared a late scratching at 2.35pm by order of Stewards.
 
BARWON – The start was further delayed when the gelding dislodged rider K. Stone during in its preliminary, and after galloping some distance was declared a late scratching at 3.45pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on BARWON were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 22 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 17 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable.
 
SLADE AMIGOS – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
FRISKIER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ARNO BAY – Rider W. A’Vila reported on returning scale the gelding failed to handle todays track conditions.
 
STANFORD – When questioned in regards to the tactics adopted today in leading, rider B. Swaffer stated he intended to ride hard early to hold a position from his inside barrier and allow runners to go forward soon after however nothing else went forward and was left in front. He further added it was not his intention to lead. Stewards noted his explanation.    
 
Race 5: COOPERS/DONAHUES/LANES CK/NQ TROUGH WERRINGTON PLATE RTR HEAT CLASS 6 PLATE – 1000M
 
The start of this race delayed due to the delays in race 4.
 
MOLONGLE MAGIC – After being initially slow to begin was further inconvenienced and lost ground.
 
COHESION – Began awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing another runner.
 
GINGERSNAP – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RYLEE’S SAGA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BE WHY OH – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to its race after competing at yesterday’s meeting and was cleared to start.
Rider B. Swaffer reported on returning scale the gelding in his opinion failed to backup from yesterday’s run.
