Race 1: B&J CARSALES QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP - 1100 metres
1st RUBY REMEDY 2nd CRAIGLEA EVELYN 3rd MANY CLOUDS 4th - LEGAL DECISION

Stewards questioned trainer L. Rowe with regard to the scratching of OUR INVESTMENT. Mr Rowe said that the horse was having its first start from a spell over 1100 metres and he did not wish to start from the wide barrier.

GIDGEE COALS - Was declared a late scratching at 10.35 a.m., when trainer J. Pointon advised that it was sore over the back and was short striding. Mr Pointon was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.

MANY CLOUDS - Slow to begin. Contacted by another runner near the 500 metres.

CRAIGLEA PUMA - Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any obvious abnormality. Trainer Ms K. Johnston advised stewards that the gelding will now be spelled.

LEGAL DECISION - Near the 500 metres shifted out and contacted another runner.

CRAIGLEA EVELYN - Near the 200 metres shifted in and made contact with the running rail.

Race 2: G&L DUNNETT PLASTERBOARDS CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200 metres
1st OUTBACK SAGA 2nd LOGICAL OUTCOME 3rd PRINCE DAN 4th - RECTIFIER

When questioned regarding the scratching of PRINCE OF SOFIA, Trainer T Button advised that the conditions of the lease had not been agreed upon after acceptances, and for that reason the horse was scratched. Mr Button was informed to ensure ownership and administrative matters are completed as early as possible.

LOGICAL OUTCOME - Slow to begin.

SMUDGER - Slow to begin. Prior to the 200 metres was unable to advance into a run to the inside of FADED. Soon after this FADED shifted in marginally and crowded SMUDGER.

FADED - Began awkwardly.

RECTIFIER - On returning to scale rider reported that the gelding raced a little flat, which he attributed to the time between runs.

Race 3: PAT O'DRISCOLL/KNIGHT FRANK REAL ESTATE CLASS 3 PLATE -1400 metres
1st MACHO TYCOON 2nd GODAVARI 3rd HUNTER ISLAND 4th - SON OF A WARRIOR

FORBARREL - Trainer J. Wehlow was questioned regarding the circumstances surrounding the scratching of the gelding. A veterinary certificate was supplied showing that the horse had bowed both tendons and will now be retired from racing.

DANE CHEVAL - Shifted out on jumping and made contact with the barrier partition. From near the 1000 metres raced ungenerously until near the 800 metres, then raced wide for the remainder.

SON OF A WARRIOR - Leaving the 400 metres shifted ground when struck with the whip, which resulted in MACHO TYCOON (Jockey A. Butler) shifting out and away. Near the 300 metres SON OF A WARRIOR again shifted out, causing HUNTER ISLAND (Jockey N. Day) to be eased.

GODVARI - Near the 500 metres MACHO TYCOON shifted in, taking GODAVARI inwards, and resulting in that runner being held up momentarily. Jockey A. Butler was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground.

Race 4: SMW GROUP MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1100 metres
1st MISS MALCHI 2nd LIGHTNING ARTIST 3rd MISS HAVISHAM 4th - DYNAMIC EMBRACE

SAVANNAH ORO Made contact with another runner at the start.

DYNAMIC EMBRACE made contact with another runner at the start.

WATTO'S JET - Shifted in at the start and caused MISS HAVISHAM to blunder. Near the 300 metres had to be eased when DRAGONMOSS rolled in under pressure.

OUR LUCKY LUCY - Slow to begin. Near 900 metres, taken out when another runner hung out.

KING DAZZLER - Slow to begin.

MISS HAVISHAM - Hung out for a short distance near the 900 metres.

DRAGONMOSS - Hung out in the middle stages.

ITTY GITTY - Commenced to hang out near the 900 metres, then continued to hang out in the middle stages.

PRINCESS RHYTHM - Raced wide without cover throughout.

SCATTERED SHOWERS - Raced wide with cover.

Race 5: XXXX GOLD HANDICAP - 1100 metres
1st KUAIMA 2nd TESTASCANA 3rd SMART PATROL 4th- MARINA SANDS

FAST FOCUS - Slow to begin. Near the 900 metres FAST FOCUS (App. Q. Krogh) was momentarily steadied when TESTASCANA (App. S. Lacy) shifted in when not quite clear. When asked about the performance of FAST FOCUS, App. Q. Krogh stated that he was a little tardy at the start and got further back in the field than was its usual racing pattern, however the gelding did not run out a strong 1100 metres today. Stewards will follow up with trainer J. McConachy

COVERT CHARMOUR - Raced wide without cover throughout.

MYTHOLOGIST - Raced keenly for a short distance near the 700 metres. Jockey A. Allen was reprimanded under A.R. 137A for using his whip prior to the 100 metres 1 more stroke than is permitted under the rule.

Race 6: CAPRICORN YEARLING SALE RACING CARNIVAL 2016 CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1050 metres
1st - COURTZIG 2nd - SHIGERU MAHOGANY 3rd - HUMANISE 4th - HAKKASAN

BARBOUGE - Became fractious and kicked the rear barriers on a number of occasions. Acting on veterinary advice, Stewards ordered the late scratching of the gelding at 5.03 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on BARBOUGE be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

0¢ in the dollar for the win on the winner, COURTZIG
3¢ in the dollar for the place, for the winner, COURTZIG
1¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, SHIGERU MAHOGANY
2¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, HUMANISE

ALL BAR THE JEWELS - Fractious in the barriers. Examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Raced wide without cover throughout.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey A. Butler, the rider of SHIGERU MAHOGANY which finished 2nd, to view the patrol film to determine whether he would lodge an objection to COURTZIG (Jockey A. Allen) being declared 1st. Having done so, Jockey Butler elected not to lodge a protest and correct weight was declared on the judge's numbers.

Trainer C. Thompson will be spoken to regarding the performance of COURTZIG.

ZALATED - Laid out near the 600 metres.

BEST HURRAH - Raced wide without cover throughout.

Near the 900 metres HAKKASAN (Jockey A. Coome) shifted in when not clear and caused COURTZIG (Jockey A. Allen) to shift in and away. SHIGERU MAHOGANY (Jockey A. Butler) was steadied and lost ground. Jockey A. Coome was reprimanded for shifting in.
