Race 1: JCL Machinery Mai Battlers Cup BM70 Handicap - 2200 metres
1st CATCH A GLIMPSE 2nd SIX BEAT 3rd MEADOW DREAMER 4th - PRESSUM

GAS BURNER - Began awkwardly and lost ground, then raced wide until near the 1200 metres.

SIX BEAT - Apprentice C. Jokic was fined $300 for using her whip on the gelding on 6 more occasions than permissible. Stewards took into account her good record in relation to the rule.

FELIX BAY - When questioned regarding the performance Apprentice Grylls stated that she was instructed to take up a position where the gelding was comfortable. She said that she was able to obtain a position at the rear of the field and despite putting her mount under pressure from the 800 metres, it was nevertheless disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections indicated that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.

Race 2: JCL Fabrication & Welding QTIS 2YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st MISHANI SHIRAZ 2nd PERSISTENT SHADOW 3rd CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY 4th - PARTY PARDEE

VIRGIN TERRITORY - Began awkwardly and shifted out, taking CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY out onto MISHANI SHIRAZ. When corrected, shifted in and made contact with RUBY REMEDY. Raced wide with cover.

RUBY REMEDY and WICKED HUNDRED made contact shortly after start, and again near the 900 metres.

UNCANNY REASON - Began awkwardly.

WICKED HUNDRED - Near the 800 metres shifted in and away from RUBY REMEDY, which caused UNCANNY REASON to steady and shift out, making contact with VIRGIN TERRITORY, which became unbalanced. Near the 600 metres made contact with UNCANNY REASON, which shifted wider on the track.

PERSISTENT SHADOW - Near the 400 metres shifted out from the heels of CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY and bumped RUBY REMEDY. Laid in near the 200 metres.

RUBY REMEDY - Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: JCL Machining, Boring & Milling Maiden Plate - 1300 metres
1st CAPTAIN ADRIATIC 2nd NORUDDER NOCOMPASS 3rd TICATIME 4th - MISS SATINE

The declaration of correct weight was delayed while stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr J Rideout, the trainer of MISS SATINE which finished 4th, against TICATIME being declared 3rd, alleging interference near the 500 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official video films and acting on their own observations, stewards established that near the 500 metres TICATIME (Jockey M. Hellyer) shifted out and made contact with MISS SATINE (Apprentice N. Summers), then approaching the 200 metres TICATIME shifted out abruptly, causing its rider to stop and straighten and MISS SATINE to be eased and alter course. However, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that these incidents warranted a reversal of the placings, given the margin of 3/4 of a length between the two horses at the finish. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand.

TICATIME- Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages and Jockey Hellyer was unable to fully test his mount.

NOTHING VENTURED - Slow to begin.

Race 6: DLV Finance Tattersalls Cup Saturday 11 June C&G Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st- ZIZA SPIRIT 2nd - EKKLESTONE 3rd- MYSTIC LAD 4th - WIDE EYED

The start was delayed when EKKLESTONE required farrier attention behind the barriers.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey A. Coome, the rider of EKKLESTONE, viewed the patrol film to determine whether to lodge a protest against ZIZA SPIRIT being declared the winner. Having done so, he elected not to lodge a protest, and correct weight was declared.

WORTHY HERO - Jockey A. Taylor was fined $400 for using her whip on the gelding on 2 occasions more than permissible under the Rule. Stewards were mindful of her poor record in regard to the use of the whip.

SIMPLY SHOWTIME - The start was delayed when the gelding proved difficult to load into the barriers. A warning will be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.

MYSTIC LAD - Jumped outwards onto ZIZA SPIRIT at the start, resulting in EKKLESTONE being tightened for room between ZIZA SPIRIT and WORTHY HERO and causing the horse to clip heels and blunder which unbalanced the rider and lose ground.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the riding and performance of EKKLESTONE. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
