Yeppoon Trials 23/04/18
 
Stewards inquired into the circumstances surrounding Apprentice T Doyle being dislodged near the 600 metres during Trial 4. After hearing evidence from Jockeys A. Butler, N. Seymour, C McIver and App T Doyle and observing the available patrol film, Stewards were of the opinion that CARHERO (App Doyle), when leaving the 700 metres, was inclined to hang out and shortly afterwards commenced to over race. At a point leaving the 600 metres, CARHERO continued to over-race and, despite the efforts of App. Doyle to restrain his mount, clipped the heels of SAY PLEASE (N. Seymour), blundered and caused App T Doyle to be dislodged.  Stewards determined that this incident was a racing incident and took no action.
 
Race 1: Clark Rubber Maiden Handicap 1050m
 
TORQUE-  Hampered when BAUHINIA DRUM jumped outwards, taking GAI OF THE  GALAXY out.
 
MISS SCHIFFER – Made contact on jumping away.  Laid out in the middle stages.
 
FAY ELEMENT – Bumped at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
CRAIGLEA BELLINI – Near the 900m become awkward in its stride and appeared to suffer an injury. Subsequently was found to be sore in the near hindleg, with swelling to its flank. Treatment was administered. Stewards will follow up regarding the condition of the horse.
 
 
MADAME GISELLE – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice B. Nothdurft stated that the horse had travelled well but did not finish off in the straight and proved disappointing, however would take a fitness benefit from the run.
 
Race 2: Milne Bros Country Cup BenchMark 55 Handicap 1600m
 
WILLY BE LUCKY – Slow to begin.
 
MURRAMARANG – Over-raced with its head in the air for a short distance leaving the 1300m.
 
HOURGLASS TIME – Near the 300m was accidently struck over the head twice by the whip of Jockey A. Butler (DOUBOS), overreacted and shifted out and contacted the hindquarters of DOUBOS, causing it to become awkward and HOURGLASS TIME to become unbalanced.
 
DOUBOS – Became awkward near the 300m. Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey A. Butler was fined $300 for using his whip on 5 more occasions than permissible. Stewards took into account the distance and the totality of the use and his poor recent record.
 
FAST TRICK – When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, jockey N. Seymour stated that the horse travelled well, however failed to finish off the race. He attributed this to the time between runs and the step up in distance today, however added it derive fitness  from the run today.
 
MIM’S POET – Bled from both nostrils during the race. This was the first occasion on which the horse had bled, however connections advised the horse would now be retired. A 3 month bar from racing was imposed on the horse.
 
Race 3: The Capricornian Credit Union QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100m
 
STREAMLINER - Jumped outwards at the start onto CRAIGLEA ZED, which was taken out onto CHANAMARO.
 
CRAIGLEA ZED – Bumped at start and forced outwards.
 
CHANAMARO – Hampered at start after being slow to begin. Rider J. Stanley reported his mount was inclined to hang in throughout.
 
HENRYROBERT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SAY PLEASE – Obliged to ease near the 900m when racing to the inside of CRAIGLEA ARION. 
 
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 800m. After taking evidence from Jockey M. Stephens (STREAMLINER), Jockey N. Seymour (SAY PLEASE) and L. Tilley (SERIOUS CRIME), it was established that near the 800m, CRAIGLEA ZED shifted in when unable to be restrained when placed to the inside of STREAMLINER and outside of SAY PLEASE, however at that point STREAMLINER had rolled in marginally. Whilst the stewards noted that the incident was of some significance, in the circumstances were not able to apportion blame to any one rider or that the actions were careless.
 
PAINTER’S REWARD – Raced wide with no cover throughout.
 
GOODGOLLYMISSMOLLY – Apprentice B. Nothdurft was reminded of his obligations to ride his horses out over the concluding stages.
 
Race 4: Frasers Livestock Transport QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1100m
 
ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY- Jockey M. Stephens was the late declared rider for the horse.
 
JAY JAY – Slow to begin. Laid out near the 800m and appeared to clip the heels of FORTUNATO BAMBINO and bumped with UMAWINNER.
 
FORTUNATO BAMBINO – Jumped outwards abruptly at the start, making significant contact with BARGANNON.
 
BARGANNON – Bumped heavily at the start.
 
UMAWINNER – Bumped at the 800m.
 
FAIRY WINGS – Raced wide without cover.
 
ALITTLEBITTAMAGIC – Raced wide with cover.
 
HIDDEN GODDESS – Jockey L. Tilley was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
 
Race 5: Ray White Rural BenchMark 60 Handicap 1050m
 
TEN GOAL POLO – Trainer J. McConachy was fined $300 under AR114 in that he had failed to scratch the horse by the required time, which had cost another emergency a run.
 
POETIC SHOW – Fractious prior to the start.
 
SKY BROOK – Reared prior to the start, and on jumping reared again and appeared to strike its head. Jockey L. Tilley appeared to strike his head on the barrier partition at this stage. The horse was restrained and took no competitive part in the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey L. Tilley was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
DRAYMAN – Pulled its near fore plate on jumping.
 
MANDELA DREAMING – Bumped on 2 occasions near the 300m.
 
CRAIGLEA TICKER – Bumped on 2 occasions near the 300m.
 
Trainer T. Cook was reprimanded for his conduct following this race in that he struck the enclosure gate. He was reminded that his conduct must be appropriate at all times.
 
Race 6: Bentleys Rocky Amateurs Cup Open Handicap 1600m
 
LET ME SAY THIS – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground, and was uncompetitive throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Rundle will be advised that the horse will be required to barrier trial prior to its next race start.
 
FASTNET FLYER – Disappointed for doubtful running between CASINO BENJO and MAMSELLE CORDAY near the 500m.
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
I CAN I WILL I AM – Apprentice jockey Z. White was reminded of rules with regard to use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
Race 7: Tattersalls Racing Club Brisbane Rocky Amateurs Bracelet Open Handicap 1200m 
 
HELAROCITY – Declared a late scratching at 3.47 pm on veterinary advice when found to be lame in the near hindleg.  A veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next start.
 
CASINO THOUGHTS – Slow to begin.
 
FRENCH HUSSLER – Raced wide with cover.
