Race 1: DLV Finance QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1050m

EVIE’S LASS – As Jockey M. Gray was indisposed, he was replaced by jockey R. Wiggins. Slow to begin. Was held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 600m until approaching the 400m and had to be shifted out in an attempt to improve. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

EMILEE’S EMPIRE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after slipping in the tie-up stalls and was passed fit to start. A post race swab sample was taken. Jockey T. Chambers pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m and was reprimanded.


ALEYSA’S DREAM – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

BAUHINIA BEANS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced green when placed under pressure in the straight. In the vicinity of the 200m shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

NINETY NINE RED – Jumped away awkwardly.

PRETTY LIL’ THING – Slow to begin.






Race 2: Walkers Hot Bread Shop Maiden H’cap – 1400m

MORENITA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Rider N. Summers reported her mount hung out severely throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.

COMMANDER’S WATCH – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the horse racing further back in today’s event, jockey T. Chambers stated after being slow to begin and from the wide barrier elected to cross and attempt to find cover rather than making use of her mount in the early stages. Jockey T. Chambers pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $100.

ESPEREUS – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

MIGHTY MEERKAT – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.

PERMAFROST – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and was able to take up a position outside the lead in the vicinity of the 800m.

STUBAI – Overraced in the early and middle stages and raced wide without cover throughout.

RUN AL RUN – Overaced in the middle stages.

Following this jockey B. Pengelly was examined by the Queensland ambulance officers and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.



Race 3: Hamilton CQ Painting Services QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1050m

MARRON CHEVAL – Jumped away awkwardly and in the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of LEPREEZY. Overraced for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any visible abnormalities.

VAMPARINA – Slow to begin.

GOOD AS A ROCKET – Hampered on jumping away.

BUSH BEAT ROCKET – Hampered on jumping away. Lost its near fore plate in running.

WINNINGTON – Overrraced in the early and middle stages and in the vicinity of the 900m, had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of LEPREEZY.


BOSS BABY – Overraced in the early and middle stages, and in the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained after LEPREEZY shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Jockey M. Stephens, rider of LEPREEZY, was reminded of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

CRIME BOSS – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Butler Partners (Regional) Pty Ltd QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1600m

LITTLE SPOON – Trainer B. Ryan was fined $100 for the late declaration of rider for the horse. Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery and signs of heat stress.

BANTU BAY - Trainer L. Rowe stated that it was his intention to settle further forward if circumstances permitted. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Overraced in the early stages. Jockey A. Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount right out to the finish. Jockey Butler was suspended from riding in races for a period 12 days, to commence at midnight 9 February and to expire at midnight, 21 February. In determining penalty stewards believed that jockey Butler’s failure to ride his mount out in the final stride cost BANTU BAY from placing second.

DARK ARCHER – Jumped away awkwardly.

BRASS BEAD – Jumped away awkwardly.

JOE ALBERT – Hampered on jumping away.

CENTAUR – Hampered on jumping away.

HE’S SO VIVACIOUS – Severely hampered on jumping away.

NOT LIABLE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

ATTARD - A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have tied up and had locked its patellas. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.



Race 5: RGS Raceday – Saturday 15 February Class 1 H’cap – 1050m

BELZU – Hampered on jumping away.

TARTUFO BIANCO – Hampered on jumping away. In the vicinity of the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of BALZU when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. McIver, rider of BELZU, was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.

OUTSPOKEN – Hampered on jumping away and laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

BURDEN – Overrraced in the early and middle stages.

RAPTCHA’U – Raced wide throughout.

CIRCUIT JUDGE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

TRIDACNA – Raced wide throughout.

RAPT IN BLACK – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress. Jockey T. Chambers pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $100.



Race 6: ST Patrick’s Race Club Races – Saturday 14 March Benchmark 72 H’cap – 1050m

ALL EEZ – Reared as the start was affected and was hampered shortly after jumping away. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey L. Dillon stated after being hampered on jumping his mount failed to travel throughout the race and became concerned with the horse’s action over the concluding stages and as a result elected not to push his mount out to the finish. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Wigginton pleaded guilty to a charge under AR165(3) for leaving the course within 30 minutes and was fined $200. Jockey L Dillion pleaded guilty to a charge of using his whip more than the permitted amount prior to the 100m under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii). In considering an appropriate penalty Stewards took into account Jockey L Dillions poor record in relation to this rule. Jockey Dillon was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 10 February 2020 and expire midnight 17 February 2020.

FUN TICKETS – Hampered on jumping away.

LADYADA – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

GINGERSNAP – Jumped away awkwardly, contacting the outside partition of the barriers. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

ABSOLUTE BONZA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages.

TEN GOAL POLO – Raced wide throughout.


Race 7: Hygain Capricornia Yearling Sales Carnival – 3, 4 and 5 April Class 3 – 1400m

STARS DON’T RUST – As B. Pengelly was stood down by the doctor, C Whitely was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey C. Whitely pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $100.

PIPEMAJOR – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

AHMAH STAR – Jumped away awkwardly.

DELAGO EDITION – In the vicinity of the 1200m had to be steadied after being crossed by THE CLANG AFFAIR, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. McIver, rider of THE CLANG AFFAIR, was advised of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground.

GYPSY BIKER – In the vicinity of the 1200m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DELAGO EDITION, which was being restrained. Jockey A. Butler, rider of GYPSY BIKER, reported that, in his opinion, GYPSY BIKER resented racing inside runners. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

VAN WINKEL – Overrraced in the middle stages.

LENNON’S PADDOCK – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Was obliged to steady in the vicinity of the 50m when racing between RIO ROSIE and STARS DON’T RUST.

THE CLANG AFFAIR – Raced wide without cover throughout.

RIO ROSIE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.,

SECRET SITES – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the vicinity of the 500m.
