Race 1: PABLO’S TEX-MEX CALOUNDRA MARES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
FINAL DICE was declared a late scratching at 6:17 pm when the horse refused to load. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on FINAL DICE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 6:17 pm:

1 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1

Trainer B. Wormer was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
FLASH JETT – Slow to begin. Trainer S. Murdoch was advised that in light of today’s performance, the horse’s nomination will be refused at TAB venues. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FLYING DEE JAY – Arrived late on course due to transport difficulties, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 550m and 500m and on both occasions bumped the running rail and became unbalanced. M. McGillivray reported that his mount did not travel comfortably in the rain-affected conditions.
 
GREY NADA – Bumped the running rail near the 500m.
 
HINTERLAND SAM – Apprentice H. English reported that her mount did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event.
 

 
Race 2: PARKLANDS TAVERN E&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed when LUJAC underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers after becoming fractious when leaving the enclosure.
 
The start was further delayed when CAIRNSY underwent farrier attention in an attempt to reattach the near fore plate, which it lost en route to the barriers. CAIRNSY was then declared a late scratching at 6:48 pm when the horse was unable to be loaded. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on CAIRNSY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 6:48 pm:

Connections were advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
The start was further delayed when SIR PLUCKA was kicked by another runner and after being examined by the veterinary surgeon was declared a late scratching at 6:49 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SIR PLUCKA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed between 6:48 pm and 6:49 pm:

LUJAC – Slow to begin. Trainer B. Brown advised that LUJAC will now be retired from racing.
 
NIGHT WHISPER – Raced three wide without cover.
 
Race 3: SHINGLE INN CALOUNDRA QTIS 3YO C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
CURRUMBIN CRAFT – Held up for clear running approaching the 400m and shifted out in attempt to secure clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with another runner, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Rider S. Cormack was reprimanded in relation to this incident and advised to exercise more care. Laid out badly under pressure from the 350m, causing its rider to pull the whip through to the nearside and causing its rider to ride hands and heels from approaching the 100m. Jockey Cormack was interviewed in relation to his apparent failure to ride that gelding out over the final strides. He indicated that in light of the horse’s tendency to lay out, he had concerns that the horse would continue to lay out and this affected his riding style at this point of the race. Stewards, after considering the patrol footage, were satisfied to accept jockey Cormack’s explanation.
 
IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LITTLE DRUMMER BOY – Slow to begin.
 
SHOWSCAY – Overraced approaching the first turn and as a result was obliged to race three wide without cover. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding was exhibiting a post-race cough. Trainer M. Mair was advised that prior to the horse’s next start he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination.
 
TE RAPA – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Apprentice H. English reported that her mount raced very greenly throughout.
 
CAPEOS – Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 400m and became awkward as a result.
 
Race 4: SUPAVIEW SECURITY & SUNSCREEN CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M
 
NATCH – Slow to begin.
 
ECKER ROAD – The start of this race was delayed when ECKER ROAD, which kicked out in the barriers and sustained a minor abrasion to the nearside hock, which was noted upon examination by the veterinary surgeon, and was cleared to start. T. Brooker reported that approaching the 600m her mount commenced to hang out and then hung in under pressure in the home straight and was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination, in light of the performance, which was below market expectations, found further lacerations to the front of the nearside hock which had not been noted pre-race.
 
VOULAIT – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.
 
SIMPLY SO – Hampered shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance after passing the 500m.  Apprentice S. Lacy reported that her mount did not handle the rain-affected track.
 
BULLION BELLE – Laid in under pressure from the 300m onwards.
 
LOVESON – Bumped and became awkward shortly after the start.
 
HONOUR PROMISE – Raced wide without cover.
 
NICE TIME – Hampered shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
 
Race 5: UBET F&M CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M
 
CLASSAY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
BEL CLASSICO – Held up rounding the home turn and until near the 250m.
 
HOT TALK – Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn and until near the 300m.
 
TEMPETE ROUGE – Raced three wide and overraced in the early stages. S. Galloway reported that his mount hung out from the 500m.
 
COPYWRITER – Slow to begin.
 
SOME COLLECT – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight and the rider was obliged to stop riding near the 200m.
 
Race 6: ACCESS INSULATION C,G&E CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M
 
LAUDIT – Tightened for room and clipped heels shortly after the start.
 
AIRLIE REWARD – Stewards questioned apprentice T. Williams regarding her tactics when racing three wide throughout. She indicated that in the early stages she saw an opportunity to position her mount behind LIMESTONE COWBOY in a one-off position, however, AIRLIE REWARD overraced badly and she unable to restrain the gelding sufficiently to cross behind the heels of LIMESTONE COWBOY. She said she then elected, after the 800m, to allow the horse to stride in a three-wide position rather than continue to fight the horse. Stewards accepted the explanation.
 
Race 7: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1600M
 
RECKLESS ABANDON – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1100m when the pace steadied. S. Cormack indicated that the horse did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event, however was nonetheless very disappointing. Connections advised that they would give consideration to the horse’s racing future.
