SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Eagle Farm, 23.5.20 Race 5
 
Jockey Jake Bayliss, rider of PLENTY, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m, and was fined $500.
 
 
GENERAL
 
As jockey M. Murphy was indisposed, rider changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
Race 6/7 – Trainer B. Lockwood was fined $100 for failing to declare S. Cormack as the rider of Gomathi in Race 6 and S. Cormack as the rider of Fiorente Star in Race 7.

Race 1: Paddy Walsh Painting & Solid Plastering Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
THE GOOD THE BAD – Slow into stride. Jockey L. Cassidy was fined $100 pursuant to AR132(7(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
ROZEIRA – Bumped on jumping.
 
LOVE RUSH – Inclined to overrace in the early stages.
 
PHAT BEATS – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
IGNITE THE MAGIC – Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m between PHAT BEATS and OUR OMEN and obliged to shift inwards to secure clear running.  When questioned regarding riding his mount out to the finish, jockey A. Chau stated  his mount was inclined to lay out and was mindful of improving onto the heels of ROZEIRA. Stewards noted his explanation, however reminded him of his obligations to ride his mounts right  out to the line.  
 
ANGEL MIO – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BE BRYAN – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: Haymans Electrical, Data & Airconditioning – Caloundra Open H’cap – 1400m
 
DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Change of tactics. Trainer T. Bourke advised it would be the preferred intention to race in a forward position if circumstances permit. Raced accordingly. Inconvenienced and obliged to steady from the heels of ATLANTIC CITY, which shifted in near the 800m before momentarily shifting wider on the course.
 
GRANDE CASADORA – Slow into stride and raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
FABULONH – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Steadied from the heels of DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE, which shifted out near the 800m.
 
ATLANTIC CITY – Jockey A. Chau was reprimanded under AR131(a) in that near the 800m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when not sufficiently clear of DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE.
 
PRESSWAY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Passing the 100m was obliged to race in restricted room resulting in  jockey M. Cahill being unable to fully test his mount to the line.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 3: Go Transit Media Group Pty Ltd QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
QUEEN SWEEPER – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping with PATTY’S FORTUNE. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages and continued to race ungenerously approaching the home turn. Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
PATTY’S FORTUNE – Began awkwardly, shifted in bumping with QUEEN SWEEPER.   Raced ungenerously and threw its head in the air for a short distance near the 750m. Jockey McGillivray  reported his mount raced greenly throughout.
COYNES ROAD – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
DEVIL – Bumped on jumping and forced outwards, making contact with EARN OUT.
 
EARN OUT – Bumped on jumping.
 
OUR CALANTHA – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
NIKSICKO- Jockey J. Orman reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.  Trainer A. Coome was fined $200 under AR 165 (3), for permitting NIKSICKO to leave the course within the 30 minute following this event. The gelding was subsequently returned to the course and underwent a post race veterinary examination with no abnormalities detected.

ATLANTIC ROYAL –  Approaching the 150m was obliged to steady from the  heels of VINTAGE BOROSSA, which shifted out.   Raced 3 wide throughout. 
 
VINTAGE BOROSSA – Jockey B. Stewart was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a), in that near the 150m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting wider on the course, causing ATLANTIC ROYAL to be inconvenienced.
 
 
 
Race 4: Adams + Sparkes Town Planning + Development QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
DISCO LIGHTS – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m raced in restricted room between QUEEN SAFARI and BETTER RUSH, which shifted out slightly. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.  Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that in view of the gelding’s disappointing performance it would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its return to the race.
 
SQUIRREL HUNTER – Began awkwardly.
 
ZAYDE – Began awkwardly, was steadied from heels and lost ground on jumping.
 
CURIC – Slow into stride.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Restrained from heels near the 700m and then raced 3 wide.
 
QUEEN SAFARI – Near the 700m became awkward when bumped on the hind quarters by DISCO LIGHTS.
 
CHATTANOOGA LUCY – Whilst racing ungenerously near the 700m shifted in and away from BETTER RUSH, making contact with the rail. Disappointed for a run and had to alter course near the 300m and was then inclined to lay in when placed under pressure.
 
BETTER RUSH – Near the 700m was inclined to lay in and was restrained and lost ground.
 
ONE SHY RUBY – Raced 3 wide.
 
KEEN AS A BEAN – Raced 3 wide.
 
Race 5: Higgins Coatings Pty Ltd QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
SHOTGUN SONNY – Trainer M. Currie was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.  Began awkwardly, causing its rider to become unbalanced. Then raced 3 wide. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
QUEEN LAGERTHA – Began awkwardly.
 
NIKOHLI BEAGLE – Began awkwardly. Eased up over the final 200m. Lost both front plates in  running.  A post race veterinary examination determined it to have a poor post race recovery.
 
SHE MAKES ME HAPPY – Buffeted between runners on jumping, losing its position.
 
SCANDINA – Began awkwardly.
 
BOOMING TOWN – Blundered on jumping.
 
SERRATALLI – Very slow into stride. When asked to comment regarding the filly’s performance, jockey M. Cahill stated that after a very slow beginning SERRATALLI failed to muster speed despite his urgings until a point near the 600m when the filly began to travel.  He added that the filly was doing its best work over the concluding stages and would benefit from a step up in distance.
 
MORE THAN LIKELY – Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WANTOK – Raced 3 wide.
 
 
Race 6: All Pest Qld Maiden H’cap – 1600m
 
FI FI NO FUSS – Slow into stride. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BELLICOSE – Began very awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing its rider. Jockey L. Cassidy reported the gelding was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight and indicated that connection were likely to now send the gelding for a spell.
 
CALLHIMWATUWANT – Shortly after the start was effected was obliged to steady from the heels of RUFFIN’ IT, which shifted in marginally. Raced 3 wide.
 
RUFFIN’ IT – Shifted in shortly after the start before being corrected by its rider. Then raced 3 wide throughout.
 
WILCARUISE – Overraced in the early stages when attempting to restrain to a rearward position before racing 3 and 4 wide throughout the event. Jockey S. Lacy advised that, in her view, the gelding may not have appreciated the quick back up from its last engagement on 20 May.
 
ETHEREUM – Overraced in the early stages.
 
CONCILLIUM – Obliged to alter course near the 200m.
 
QUOTANT – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
THORBEN – Checked  passing the 300. Stewards inquired into this incident and Apprentice B Nothdurft was subsequently found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 131 (a), in that after passing the 300m, when riding JERRY ZANDA along, directed that gelding out to obtain clear running and in doing so tightened the running of THORBEN causing the rider of that horse to restrain his mount and lose ground. Apprentice Nothdurft’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 5 June and to conclude 15 June.
 
 
 
Race 7: Stanley River Thoroughbreds QTIS 3yo H’cap – 2200m
 
BLACK KITTY – Declared a late scratching at 2.46 pm due to an injury  sustained en route to the course. On arrival at the course the filly was assessed by the veterinary surgeon and administered pain relief for a significant injury to the near-hind leg and transferred to a local veterinary practice for further treatment. Stewards were subsequently advised that the filly, following a further assessment was euthanased on humane grounds.
 
NAVY CROSS – Began awkwardly.
 
STEEL PIER – Slow into stride.
 
ZAMZARA – Slow into stride.  When questioned regarding the filly’s performance, jockey T. Marshall stated that it was inclined to lay out throughout the event. He further stated it was the intention to elect to improve into the race when the pace slowed, but when the pace did not slacken he was then obliged to ride the filly back in the field. Trainer D Forster advised stewards that the filly would now be sent for a spell.
 
TOP ORDER – Slow into stride.
 
 
 
Race 8: TAB Class 1 H’cap – 1800m
 
CLEAR SAILING – Bumped near the 600m by RIVER OF LOVE and forced wider.
 
RIVER OF LOVE – Slow into stride. Near the 600m when shifting out to improve bumped CLEAR SAILING.
 
BEL STRIDER – Slow into stride. Near the 150m clipped heels and fell, dislodging its rider. Jockey M McGillivray was transported to hospital for further assessment. Evidence was taken from the riders in the vicinity. The inquiry was adjourned until such time as jockey M. McGillivray is fit to participate.  The fallen horse  underwent a veterinary examination , which revealed it had sustained abrasions to its near foreleg and was treated on course. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that the filly would need a veterinary clearance prior to returning to the races.
 
RIVER OF LOVE – Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances which led to the horse being checked leaving the 200m.
 
TAVISFACTION – Whilst weakening near the 150m was obliged to take evasive action to avoid the fallen BEL STRIDER.
 
 
Race 9: Maleny Hotel Benchmark 72 H’cap – 1600m
 
This race was rescheduled to a new starting time of 6.54 pm due to the fall in the previous race.
 
STARDOME – Slow into stride. Apprentice N. Keal was reprimanded for his whip action which was above shoulder height.  Apprentice N. Keal  was  also fined $100 for using his whip in excess of 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

MYMMING – Steadied momentarily near the 80m when OWN SWEET WAY was taken in slightly by ECKER ROAD.
 
OWN SWEET WAY – Taken in slightly by  ECKER ROAD near the 80m.
 
ECKER ROAD – Shifted in slightly near the 80m.
