SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

MACKAY TURF CLUB, THURSDAY NOVEMBER 30th 2017. RACE 7

Stewards inquired into the reason why GOWER (M Barnham) and LIKER (App. M Murphy) started from incorrect barriers. After hearing evidence from Starter Mr. P Conway it was established that he had made a clerical error when preparing his barrier sheets prior to the commencement of the race meeting, which resulted in the two horses being placed in the incorrect barriers. Stewards reminded both Jockey Barnham and App. Murphy of their obligations to ensure their mounts start from the correct barrier, and furthermore, advised Mackay Turf Club Racing Manager Mr. J Hynes that an Assistant Starter should be available to aid the Starter to officiate at all TAB race meetings going forward to prevent similar incidents occurring in the future.
