Race 1: Achieve Fitness Benchmark 70 H’cap – 1609m
 
BENTLES – Connections advised that it would be their intention to lead if at all possible. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
LOKUM – Improved onto heels leaving the 1200m and had to be restrained for some distance, throwing its head in the air.
 
Race 2: Australian Hotel Open H’cap – 1000m
 
GRAND EMPEROR – Declared a late scratching at 8.40 am by stewards acting on veterinary advice.  Trainer T. Bannon was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
RIVARIVA – Began awkwardly.
 
LILLY KAREENA – Momentarily steadied near the 700m when crowded for room by another runner.
 
ONE BAR NONE – Shifted in near the 700m, crowding another runner. Rider B. Thomson was advised to exercise more care and be fully clear when shifting ground.
 
EASY WEEKEND – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 3: Wacko Entertainments Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
HIDDEN SPEED – Began awkwardly.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Bumped on the hind quarters soon after the start and became unbalanced.
 
CRAIGLEA WEAPON – Slow to begin.
 
EUCHARIST – Jumped inwards at the start, tightening runners to its inside. Shifted in abruptly near the 900m hampering another runner. Rider A. Thomson was advised to exercise care in similar circumstances.
 
 LUCKY CONNECTION – Tightened for room soon after the start and lost ground. Commenced to race fiercely approaching the 900m and was checked when crowded for room.
 
LADY MIRABELLA – Tightened for room at the start. Bumped another runner near the 900m. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and shifted in near the 750m when placed in restricted room by another runner which lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason it clipped heels and blundered near the 450m. After hearing evidence and viewing the official race film, it was established that near the 450m PRINCESS MISSY (P. Cullen) laid out slightly, brushing LADY MIRABELLA, which was taken out slightly causing it to clip the heels of TOBASCO (C. Whiteley), which shifted in marginally at that time. Whilst stewards could not be satisfied any one rider was culpable under careless riding, the matter was reported as a racing incident.
 
LIZZYGOLIGHTLY – Restrained near the 750m and lost ground when placed in restricted room.   
 
TOBASCO – Shifted in at the start, bumping another runner on 2 occasions. Shifted in near the 900m bumping another runner. Again shifted in near the 750m despite the efforts of its rider hampering runners to its inside. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LONESOME BLUES – Bumped by another runner on 2 occasions shortly after the start.
 
KNIGHT FIGHT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
HEART OF THE MAC – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Stanley advised stewards his mount had a tendency to hang out throughout the race, proving difficult to ride.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 4: Delta Office Solutions QRIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m
 
HIDDEN WARRANT – Fractious in the barriers.  Bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced near the 950m.

DALON – Began awkwardly.
 
WICKED DANCER – Jumped outwards at the start, tightening runners to its outside.
 
MISS ESTER – Tightened for room and checked near the 950m.
 
OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Tightened for room at the start.
 
WHAT’S ROCKIN’ – Tightened for room at the start.
NOBLE SQUAW – Bumped on jumping away and raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRAIGLEA ELLA – Began very awkwardly and was bumped soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
VALUATE – Began awkwardly.
 
CYCLONE TOPGIRL – Rider N. Day pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137 (a), in that near the 950m he permitted his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of MISS ESTER (B. Thomson), which was checked and shifted in, tightening the running of JUEUN IN NEW YORK (App A. Thomson), which was also checked and was taken in, making contact with the hind quarters of HIDDEN WARRANT (M. Bennett), which became unbalanced. Jockey N. Day’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 17 May and to expire at midnight, 29 May 2018.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
JUEUN IN NEW YORK – Inconvenienced by another runner near the 950m and was checked.  Near the 700m was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner, which was racing ungenerously.
 
LOVEISALL YOUNEED – Laid in for a short distance after the start after beginning awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5:  Morleys Funerals Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1000m
 
ROYAL SCRIPT – As A. Holt was indisposed, N. Day was substituted as the rider of the horse.  Slow into stride.
 
FAIRFACTS – Slow to begin.
 
INSOLVENT – Shifted out at the start, tightening runners to its outside.
 
WILLL HE TORQUE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
PRELUSIVE STRIKE – Tightened for room at the start.
 
MR SONADOR – Jumped inwards at the start, tightening runners to its inside. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FINE FERGUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BRAVE BOW – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
 
Race 6:  All Finanz Group QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m
 
SPAZELLA – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer A. Molino for the late declaration of apprentice A. Borg as the rider of the horse. Began awkwardly and was inconvenienced by another runner and lost ground.
 
GREY MISSILE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, inconveniencing another runner. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ELITE JET – Slow to begin.
 
KILLER LOVE – Over-raced in the early stages and was restrained near the 900m.
 
CRAIGLEA VELVET – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Steadied near the 300m when placed in restricted room by another runner which shifted out.
 
CEEBIZKIT – Shifted out near the 300m under pressure, inconveniencing another runner and continued to do so for a short distance. Rider C. Jokic was reprimanded and advised to make greater efforts to keep her mounts straight in similar circumstances.
 
SEATTLE GAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROSE CLIP – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STARENA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
REACTANT – Jockey J. Stanley was fined $100 in that he used excessive whip on his mount prior to the 100m.
 
Correct weight was delayed when apprentice N. Summers, rider of Starena, requested to view the photo-finish for 2nd/3rd when being placed third past the post.  After conferring with the Judge and viewing the photo-finish, it was established that no clear margin was visible and acting under the provisions of AR156 (1), the placings were altered to read:  Reactant – 1st, dead-heat 2nd – Starea/Grey Missile, 4th – Fine ‘N’ Devine.
 
Race 7:  Bamford Lane Medical Centre Class 3 H’cap – 1300m
 
 
FORGIVE ME – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GUNGA GALLUNGA – Slowly away. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn by another runner, which was inclined to hang out.
 
ROYAL SUPREME – Had to be restrained off heels near the 1000m.  Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight.
 
LADY SKILLS – Slowly away. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
DANZ THE MAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.  Momentarily held up for clear running near the 300m.
 
CHOUX BACQUAT – Over-raced badly in the early stages.
 
GRAVETIAN – Over-raced in the early stages. 
 
SHE’S A RINGO – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ZAP – Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 950m.
