Race 1: VANDERFIELD HINO CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
IMA SHOWMAN - Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden off the speed today.  After being slow to begin, the gelding settled in a midfield position and raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
RULER’S PRIDE – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey S. Bogenhuber stated that her instructions were to take up a forward position however after the colt began only fairly she was obliged to pressure her mount in an effort to comply with these instructions.  She added that the colt then commenced to race keenly and she was unable to obtain a position with cover and was forced to race 3 wide throughout.  Jockey Bogenhuber further added that despite having a wide run throughout, she was not overly disappointed in the colt’s performance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DEEP DOWN – Slow to begin.
 
REVELIO – Trainer G. Richardson was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.  Apprentice R. Ride reported at scale that her mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS BB PROSECCO QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M
 
PURE LUCK – Made contact with the outside fence upon entering the track and was subsequently examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. 
 
SURE DEAL – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room between runners and lost ground.  Held up momentarily rounding the home turn and then disappointed for a run between SUSURRI and REAL SUPREMACY, resulting in jockey Bogenhuber being obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
 
GOLDEN COMMAND - Due to a clerical error, the colt was displayed in some publications as carrying blinkers when the horse does not in fact carry that gear.  Stewards therefore permitted the colt to race without blinkers.  Hampered shortly after the start.
 
SUSURRI – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the filly’s performance, jockey R. McMahon stated that after having a favourable position throughout, the filly was placed under immense pressure from the 500m and failed to quicken as expected and was left flat footed.  He added that the filly proved disappointing in the home straight.  Trainer B. Lockwood expressed his disappointment in the performance and could offer no explanation.  Trainer Lockwood undertook to advise Stewards in the coming days should anything come to light that may explain the performance.
 
TAPTHETILL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.  Commenced to hang out when weakening near the 500m.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which weakened in the home straight, failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer J. Zielke was advised that a warning would be placed against the horse’s racing manners.
 
MISHANI WRANGLER – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer B. Currie for the late declaration of J. Oliver as the rider of the horse. Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped SUSURRI.
 
REAL SUPREMACY – Shifted out and bumped SUSURRI on a couple of occasions near the 200m.
 
Race 3: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1050M
 
CASH’N’RUN – Buffeted between runners at the start.  Raced keenly after obtaining a leading position.   Commenced to hang out passing the 600m and continued to do so until entering the home straight.
 
RED HOT SECRET – Hampered behind BLEU, which had commenced to weaken, rounding the home turn and as a result shifted wider on the track.
 
SAY CAVALLO – Bumped at the start.
 
CHOIX DE ROSES – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BLEU – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.  Weakened in the home straight and finished a distant last.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer K. Waller was advised that the mare will be barred from provincial meetings until its form at country venues improves. 
 
ENCORE SALL – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly which caused the mare to make contact with BOILING.
 
LEADING STORY – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 500m.
 
FRANKY COLD MEDINA – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.
 
Race 4: CREATE FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1850M
 
The start of this race was delayed when ROCK VANTAGE proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers and, in doing so, made contact with the outside running rail on a number of occasions.  The gelding was subsequently examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start.  Trainer K. Baumann was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
WALK TO THE BAR – Momentarily placed in restricted room between runners approaching the 200m.
 
UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Had to be steadied leaving the 800m when attempting a narrow run to the inside of WIMPOLE STREET.  Apprentice B. Nothdurft was advised by Stewards to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.  At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice Nothdurft was issued a reprimand for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
ROCK VANTAGE – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer K. Baumann for the late declaration of Apprentice S. Sweeney as the rider of the horse.  Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
WIMPOLE STREET – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SALUTE THE PRINCE – Slow to begin and raced wide in the early stages.
 
Race 5: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1000M
 
Stewards inquired into the reasons why ONE IN ONE OUT was saddled with the incorrect saddle cloth number, and for the reasons why STARWOOD received the incorrect saddle cloth number.  After taking evidence from the trainers and riders involved, it was established that the correct bib number was placed with the incorrect saddle cloth number.  Stewards accepted the explanations put forward from all parties, and therefore took no further action.
 
ANGEL DANCER – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 800m.
 
ONE IN ONE OUT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MY MAISIE – Blundered shortly after the start.
 
TURBO TEDDY – Overraced for a short distance near the 800m.
 
Race 6: WINNING EDGE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
 
SWITCH AT MIDNIGHT – Due to a clerical error, the gelding was displayed in some publications as carrying blinkers for the first time when in fact the horse has previously raced in that gear.  Apprentice R. Williams was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account apprentice Williams’ good record in relation to this rule.
 
REJUVENATE – Caught wide in the early stages and, whilst being restrained to obtain cover, commenced to overrace and was obliged to race wide throughout.
 
MADAM MAHAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  Raced wide throughout.  When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice M. Schrapel stated that after losing ground at the start and racing wide, the mare finished the race off well and will take benefit from today’s event.
 
CHICOUTIMI – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
STAR OF COLUMBIA – Hampered by REJUVENATE when racing wide leaving the 800m, and as a result was forced wider on the track.  Raced wide throughout.
 
ROYAL BOUQUET – Shifted in at the start and bumped CHICOUTIMI.
 
Race 7: SIMON HOME TIMBER & HARDWARE MAIDEN PLATE – 1625M
 
DOG DAYS ARE OVER – Apprentice N. Keal reported at scale that it was not his intention to settle as far back in the field as he did however, after beginning awkwardly, he was obliged to settle back in the field to obtain cover.  Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
JAGNIWAS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
 
MOSS PRINCESS – Had to be steadied away from the heels of WICKED HEIGHTS near the 1500m when WICKED HEIGHTS shifted in when steadied away from the heels of SILVER BEACH (J. Oliver).  Jockey J. Oliver was reprimanded as a result of this incident.  Commenced to overrace approaching the 1200m and shifted out wider on the track before being allowed to stride forward to obtain a position near the leader.
