Race 2: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1210M

Trainer Mr. B. Robinson was fined $200 for failing to have VICTORY STAR on course by the prescribed time. A pre-race swab sample was taken from the gelding.

TARWYN BLUE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

ANGEL DANE – Slow to begin.

EDENANNIE – Apprentice M. Schrapel’s saddle shifted forward in the early stages placing him at a disadvantage from this point. Raced keenly in the early stages.

OSMOSIS – Raced keenly in the early stages. The filly shifted in of its own accord approaching the 100m, made contact with the running rail and, as a result, became unbalanced.

Race 3: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

MY BLUE THUNDER – Raced wide throughout.

JABROOK – Jockey A. Fancourt reported that the filly, which travelled comfortably in the run, failed to quicken as she had expected from the 500m and, in her opinion, was disappointing.

Race 4: CARLTON DRY CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1050M

SHEEZALADY – Knuckled on jumping away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer P. Kalinowski was advised that the mare will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

MR CHOW – Raced wide with cover throughout.

KOOKIECUTTER – Improved onto heels near the 300m, and became unbalanced.

PSYCHO SAID SO – Raced wide throughout.

MOLLY MIYAKO – Improved onto heels approaching the 700m, and shifted out.

ROBBERS COBBER – Laid out in the middle stages.

TISANI GREY – Raced keenly in the early stages.

EXCELLENT SPIRIT – Jumped in the air at the start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Race 6: TOOWOOMBA OUTDOOR POWER PRODUCTS FILLES AND MARES 0-62 H’CAP – 1300M

DANGEROUS DANICA – Stewards questioned Apprentice H. English regarding the tactics adopted on the mare after it knuckled on jumping away and was crowded for room shortly after the start. Apprentice English advised that after beginning awkwardly she was in a position in the early stages to the outside of WHODUNNIT which at that point maintained a position one off the fence resulting in her mount being forced to race wide. Apprentice English added that she had formed the opinion that her mount would not have been able to obtain a position any better than 3 wide and, having regard to its usual racing pattern of leading in its races, she permitted it to stride forward at this point. Stewards noted the explanation.

BEACH DRUM – Apprentice R. Goldsbury attempted to shift her mount out to improve near the 500m, however she was prevented from doing so by SOLO ARTIST and, as a result, was steadied from heels. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.

SOLO ARTIST – Overraced in the early and middle stages, and was obliged to race 3 wide throughout.

Race 7: MOORE TRAILERS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES 0-62 H’CAP – 1300M

SELFIE – Commenced to overrace badly approaching the 1000m, and proved difficult to restrain by its rider, before shifting out and making heavy contact with another runner. Checked to avoid heels whilst continuing to overrace near the 700m. Lost the near fore plate in running.

ROCK ‘N’ SUMMER – Began very awkwardly, and lost valuable ground at the start. Bumped heavily by another runner near the 900m, and became unbalanced. Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 700m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder. Jockey A. Fancourt reported that her mount had a tendency to lay out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise, and to also have a laceration to its off fore heel. The stable representative was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to its next start.

SYAMANTAKA MANI – Momentarily steadied when attempting to obtain a narrow run rounding the home turn and again at the 200m.
