General

Apprentice N Keal was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance in races 1 and 5. In assessing penalty, Stewards were mindful that this was Apprentice Keal’s first offence under this rule.

Due to forecast storms, the times of races 5 & 6 were brought forward to 3:51pm and 4:10pm respectively.

RACE 1: PETER WATT MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

SHELLY’S DREAM- App N Keal was unable to claim down to his allotted riding weight and subsequently only claimed 2.5 of his 3kg allowance.

DANCING DERINA- After becoming fractious in the enclosure was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and was passed fit to start.

KIRA’S BEAT-  Slow to begin.

GOLDEN BANK- Began very awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Steadied to avoid heels near the 100m.

LATCHY’S PRIDE- Bumped heavily at the start.

HIDDEN DRAFT- Bumped on jumping away. Steadied to avoid heels near the 600m.

ZENKALI- Hung out in the early stages and raced wide throughout.

DUBLEO’S PRIDE- Taken wider on the track in the early stages when another runner hung out and as a result was forced to race wide throughout.

ALMAZAN- Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Hung out badly in the early stages and shifted very wide on the track. Trainer J Dann was advised that ALMAZAN would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.

RACE 2: ANTHONY PARKER PAINTERS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M

JAREL’S DRAGON- Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.

LIPS ‘N HIPS- Hung out for the majority of the event.

RUMBA LAARA- Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 800m had to be steadied on a number of occasions whilst awkwardly placed at heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 3: INVERGARRY EQUINE CENTRE CLASS B H'CAP – 1100M

As Apprentice B Panya was ill and not riding at the meeting, she was replaced as the rider of LUCKY MISS by Apprentice E Ljung.

As J Hoopert was dual declared, he was replaced as the rider of RHODRY by A Badger.

A SNIP OF CAPTAIN- Slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed.

SIR LOCKSMITH- Raced keenly in the early stages.

RHODRY- Hung out in the early and middle stages.

Stewards questioned trainer G Richardson in relation to the seemingly improved performance of MAN OF LAW. Mr Richardson advised that despite finishing 8th last start at Bell, the gelding was only beaten 3 lengths and did not appreciate the firm track on that occasion. He added that the horse had worked well in preparation for today’s event and this, combined with the step up in distance today contributed to the horse’s apparent improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 4: JUSTIN BRIGGS/COLLEEN BURGESS COMMEMORATIVE BENNCHMARK 60 H’CAP– 1100M

DEPUTY PECK- Tightened for room at the start.

CAPTAIN CLAYTON- Raced wide throughout. Connections advised that in light of today’s performance they will now review the horse’s racing future.

RACE 5: RAILWAY HOTEL ALLORA CUP BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1500M

DUPORCHE- Apprentice N Keal was unable to claim down to his allotted riding weight and subsequently only claimed 2kg of his 3 kg allowance. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Rider dropped his whip near the 100m.

CHAMPAGNE ROCK- Raced wide throughout.

SIPPIN’BUNDY- Slow to begin.

RACE 6: ALLORA RSL SUB BRANCH/ THE BLUE COW HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1350M

WORLD SERIES- Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the turn near the 800m.
