Race 1: RINGROSE & BUTTON/SEARLE’S LIVESTOCK MAIDEN PLATE - 800 metres
 
SOME EXCEL – Reared on several occasions prior to the start.
 
MESSINES ROSE – Jumped outwards losing ground.
 
ROCKET ELEMENT – Jumped outwards, was slow into stride and travelled wide for the majority.
 
Jockey M. Abe was permitted by stewards to ride 1kg overweight on MISTRESS OF MONEY but was fined under AR 120(b).
 
 
Race 2: LANDMARK/AUSTRALIAN AGE OF DINOSAURS CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres 
 
 
S. McGovern was the rider of MISHANI TRADER and was permitted to ride 4 kg overweight as there were no other riders available.
 
MARINE ON PARADE – Travelled wide for the majority and didn’t handle the dusty track conditions.
 
HOW BIG’S THE HOLE – Travelled wide for the majority with no cover.
 
THE MONKEY – Slow to begin.
 
SPOTTED EAGLE – Slow to begin.
 
NAYTELLRHI WORLD – Travelled wide for the majority.
 
MISHANI TRADER – Slow to begin and showed no early speed.
 
Jockey M. Abe was permitted to ride GO GADGET GO 1kg overweight but was fined under AR 120(b).
 
 
Race 3: BRODIE AGENCIES QTIS BM 60 HANDICAP - 1200 metres  
 
Jockey K. Ballard was dislodged from CRYSTAL BEAR upon loading as the gelding reared back and through its head in the air making heavy contact with jockey Ballard.  The gelding was retrieved and passed to race. Jockey Ballard was attended to by ambulance officers after the race and treated but declined to go to hospital in Winton. Jockey Ballard was to attend the Mount Isa Hospital on returning home for x-rays and further treatment.
 
CRYSTAL BEAR – Slow to begin.
 
DREAMWARD BOUND – Checked severely near the 900m losing ground when outside runners shifted ground.
 
GIRLS IN PARIS – Eased and placed in restricted racing room at the 900m when outside runners shifted ground.
 
SPECK OF GOLD – Checked off heels approaching the 900m when outside runners shifted ground, then eased and was checked off heels nearing the 500m.
 
BORN TO FIRE – Eased nearing to 900m.
 
GO SAI – Checked severely nearing the 500m when frontrunners shifted ground, losing momentum.
 
MAKE AMENDS – Shifted in when not sufficiently clear at the 900m and 500m hampering inside runners. Jockey M. Abe pleaded guilty to a mid-range careless riding charge after an inquiry into the incident. Jockey M. Abe was charged under AR 137 (a) with a suspension of his licence for a period of 10 days with penalty starting from midnight the 25th April 2017 up to midnight 5th May 2017.
 
 
Race 4: GEIGER EARTHMOVING, FENCING MUSTERING BM 50 HANDICAP - 1400 metres  
 
YOUR WAY OR MINE – Slow into stride and travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
LOGAN’S RUN – Slow to begin and slow into stride.
 
CHOCOLATE BOLT – Held up for clear running near the 400m.
 
PURPLE EMPEROR – Sustained an injury to the off-side foreleg which required veterinary assistance. Trainer R. Little was advised a veterinary clearance would be required before the gelding starts again.
 
 
Race 5: CLONCURRY MUSTERING OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 metres
