Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres
MISS CAROLEE – app H English was momentarily dislodged from the mare when reluctant to proceed to the barriers. MISS CAROLEE was then examined by the club veterinarian prior to being loaded into the barriers before being passed fit to start. Trainer G Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on MISS CAROLEE’s pre-race manners. Following the event connections advised it would now be their intention to spell MISS CAROLEE.
PRINCESS FLO – rider H Phillips was reprimanded for use of the whip more than five times prior to the 100 metres.
Race 2: CLASS 3 PLATE: 1100 Metres
The start of this event was delayed when heavy rain and hail commenced to fall 15 minutes prior to the advertised starting time. A subsequent inspection revealed a number of washouts around the perimeter of the course proper and a significant amount of surface water present on the track. After taking into account the extent of remedial work that would be required to make the track suitable for racing and the forecast of further thunderstorms, stewards, in consultation with club officials, abandoned the remainder of the meeting at 2:20 pm.
