Stewards fined Jockey C Schumacher $200 for failing to provide a medical certificate under R 81F(3). On the undertaking that Jockey Schumacher was fit, Stewards permitted him to ride.
 
Mackay Turf Club – Thursday 12 April – Race 2
 
Jockey S Sheargold (CHANAMARO) was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of a half kilogram.
 
Race 1: Star Liquor Yeppoon QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 950m
 
CRAIGLEA TUNDRA – Jumped in at the start and made contact with ROCKETHEAD.
 
HENRYROBERT – Made contact with MADAM JOY at the start and was further hampered when LOLLIPOP ROCKET jumped inwards. Shortly after the start clipped the heels of MADAM JOY, dipped and lost ground.
 
TOY MEEKA – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 2: Patlaw Securities BenchMark 55 Handicap 950m
 
POETIC SHOW – Knuckled on jumping and lost some ground.
 
TEN GOAL POLO – Raced wide without cover throughout. Returned to scale with blood in its mouth.
 
SECRET DRAGON – Raced wide with cover.
 
ROCKET ON GINGER – Raced wide with cover.
 
DIAGORAS – App. N Summers reported that her mount hung out in early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: Irons Mitre 10 Yeppoon Maiden Handicap 1100m
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the patrol films with regards to the start. After doing so ROCKET ON GOLD was declared a non-runner when its barrier failed to open. Deductions were as follows:
 
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
5 cents in the dollar on the face value place bets for the winner
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
TORQUE – Slow to begin.
 
BOBSIMONE – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start, lost ground and raced rear of the field throughout. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer K Mylne will be advised that gelding would be required to trial prior to its next start.
 
Race 4: G. J. Gardner Yeppoon Cup Open Handicap 1400m
 
This race was rescheduled to be run at 3:30pm due to an impending storm.
 
MACHO TYCOON – Slow to begin.
 
DENNIS DENUTO – Began awkwardly.
 
CASINO BENJO – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800 metres, over raced and was eased from the heels of MOTORISED.
 
MOTORISED – When questioned with regard to performance, App. E Smith stated that the gelding had jumped well and been able to obtain cover however she was of the opinion that the weight impost and the soft track may have effected its performance.
 
BRADMAN – When questioned regarding performance, Jockey S Wiseman stated that gelding had travelled well until the home turn however failed to run on as a result of the soft track.
 
Race 5: Matt Svensen BenchMark 55 Handicap 1400m
 
This race was run at 4pm.
 
OUR CINDERELLA – Jockey A Butler was permitted to ride 1.5kg overweight when no other rider was available.
 
LUCIFER’S ANGEL – Slow to begin.
 
SAMBA RIO – Rider reported that his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure.
 
ELLE THE MODEL – Slow into stride.
 
POETIC LUCK – Delayed the start when the mare was difficult to load. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be sore in the near side shoulder. The veterinarian recommended an x ray and a further veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
CSARDAS – Slow into stride.
 
GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS – Near the 200 metres was bumped on two occasions with MIM’S POET and was tightened between runners and had to be eased.
 
CAPTAINS WAY – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
