At a subsequent inquiry Stewards were unable to identify any carelessness on behalf of any one rider. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Upon returning to scale Jockey M McGillivray reported that from the awkward barrier he was obliged to pressure the gelding in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the fence which resulted in him racing further forward than anticipated. As a consequence, the gelding then over-raced during the middle stages and when racing close to the heels of DENBERN passing the 600m, he was obliged to shift out to improve earlier than he otherwise would have liked.

App. Krogh added that the gelding failed to improve when placed under pressure leaving the 600m and in his opinion was disappointing.
