App. NothdurftHad difficulty pulling the whip through to his right hand between the 300m and 200m. Stewards questioned trainer S Lee as to why the gelding was late arriving on course. Mr Lee explained that a staff member had taken ill this morning leaving him short staffed as he had other runners in the stables in races 1 and 2 today. Stewards accepted the explanation. Notwithstanding, Mr Lee was reminded of his obligations under the Rules. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. A pre-race blood sample was taken.
