Apprentice A. Sewell was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he rode aggressively in attempting to force a run to the inside of MAKE A RULER where there was insufficient room to do so. Furthermore after making contact with MAKE A RULER, continued to ride aggressively in an attempt to force a run to the inside of that runner, which resulted in apprentice T. Brooker having to direct MAKE A RULER outwards after becoming very awkward and causing MAKE A RULER and VICTORY EIGHT to become awkward and lose ground. When questioned jockey T. Brooker advised the horse travelled well until the 400m, however when placed under pressure failed to respond and proved very disappointing in the run to the line. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be making an abnormal respiratory noise and connections were advised that they must provide the results of an endoscopic examination, which must be performed after exercise, along with the provision of a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
