After passing the 200m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening THE ADMINISTRATOR. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice Thornton stated that after receiving some slight interference passing the 200m, the mare proved disappointing and she did not further pressure her mount as she was of the opinion that the mare’s run had come to an end. Stewards noted her explanation.

After racing in a prominent position until passing the 400m commenced to weaken and finished at the rear of the field. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that the hose would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months, and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward.
