VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Novice 520m

WICKED QUEEN was best to begin with SAHARA GIRL and RUM RAMBLER slow. Shortly after the start ZULU PRINCESS was tightened between MALI COVEK and COBBER IN MOTION, both of which shifted.  All greyhounds became unbalanced and VELOCITY TINA which was following was inconvenienced.  Shortly after, CRANKSHAFT, MALI COVEK and WICKED QUEEN raced tight and unbalanced.  Approaching the 1st turn CRANKSHAFT shifted in tightening WICKED QUEEN, COBBER IN MOTION, MALI COVEK and VELOCITY TINA which were following were inconvenienced.  As a result COBBER IN MOTION raced wide through the 1st turn.  Entering the back straight WICKED QUEEN was tightened between SAHARA GIRL and VELOCITY TINA and lost ground.

 

The greyhound WICKED QUEEN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – 5th Grade 520m

VELOCITY SHIRL and CHEEKY CHANCE were best to begin with HANIFY’S GOLD slow.  Shortly after the start CHEEKY CHANCE shifted in abruptly tightening MINI OREO, DASHING CANUTE, GEORGINA and SMASKNIAK GOLD.  Entering the 1st turn MINI OREO shifted in hampering GEORGINA and HANIFY’S GOLD.  Through the 1st turn DASHING CANUTE shifted out forcing BAY OF SPRITE wide.  Shortly after, HANIFY’S GOLD shifted out off the heels of GEORGINA.

 

The greyhound BAY OF SPRITE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr. T Guymer in regards to the greyhound’s below market expectation performance.  Mr. Guymer stated that once the greyhound was forced wide through the 1st turn, losing its position at the front of the field, he believed its chances of winning the race were severely jeopardized. Stewards noted Mr. Guymer’s explanation.

 

Race 3 – 5th Grade 520m

NO CALLARATAH and CARDIAC KING were slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn TWEED CHIC shifted in tightening GRIN AND WIN.  Through the top turn SPECIAL GIRL shifted out off the heels of BIG DAC.  Continuing through the turn GRIN AND WIN was tightened between BIG DAC and NO CALLARATAH which shifted.  Approaching the winning post CARDIAC KING shifted in tightening TWEED CHIC and FEMME JOLIE.

 

Race 4 – 3/4th Grade 520m

LATE ANGLE LEE, KNAVE and ELUSIVE DESIRE were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start BULL TITAN shifted in tightening HOPE’S FANTASY and ELUSIVE DESIRE.  Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion ELUSIVE DESIRE shifted in tightening KNAVE and LATE ANGEL LEE which lost ground.  As LATE ANGEL LEE lost ground it collided with KNAVE which was following and both greyhounds lost further ground.  Entering the home straight ELUSIVE DESIRE and UP THE ATTITUDE came together with UP THE ATTITUDE losing ground.

 

The greyhound UP THE ATTITUDE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards spoke to the trainer Ms. V Wisener in regards to the greyhound’s weakening over the concluding stages.  Ms. Wisener stated that the greyhound is strongest over its 1st two sections and needs to lead coming into the last section, which it could not do on this occasion. Stewards noted Ms. Wisener’s explanation.

 

The greyhound LATE ANGEL LEE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 5 – Open Final 710m

STARGATE SYSTEM and ELEAZAR were slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn HOUGENIE shifted in checking PHANTOM REIGN with STELLA NIGHTS and KILLARA which were following inconvenienced.  At the same time TUAVASA SHEK was tightened as ADA MARY shifted in.  ELEAZAR was wide through the 1st turn.  Entering the bottom turn STELLA NIGHTS shifted out off the heels of ADA MARY.  Entering the home turn HOUGENIE shifted in checking TUAVASA SHEK.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 600m

Even start.  Through the 1st turn CUTE TO BOOT and IVA VISION came together.  Entering the home straight on the 1st occasion CUTE TO BOOT shifted out off the heels of IVA VISION and collided with MAGICAL DUST.

 

The greyhound CUTE TO BOOT was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near fore leg and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Final 520m

MPINGO was slow to begin.  Entering the 1st turn POP THE CORK and WHATA NICE SIZE raced tight and POP THE CORK was forced to shift out off the heels of this greyhound, becoming severely unbalanced.  VICTORY PRINCE and CHEEKY FREYER which were following were severely inconvenienced with CHEEKY FREYER falling and taking no further competitive part in the event and VICTORY PRINCE forced to race wide through the 1st turn.  Through the top turn CYNDIE’S MAGIC shifted out off the heels of KNIGHTS TEMPLAR.  VICTORY PRINCE was wide down the home straight.

 

The greyhound CHEEKY FREYER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound POP THE CORK was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – Best 8 520m

GRAND ROMAN was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn FABULOUS STORM shifted in tightening CYNDIE’S SPECIAL which was forced to shift out onto the running of GRAND ROMAN, inconveniencing this greyhound.  Shortly after, FABULOUS STORM improved onto the heels of ROSE OF GALO which was checked.  Entering the back straight LADY ABIGAIL was tightened between SHERIDON and CYNDIE’S SPECIAL.  Leaving the top turn SHERIDON and GRAND ROMAN collided.

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade 520m

TITAN ASH was slow to begin with SPOOKIE’S GIFT best away.  Shortly after the start FULL OF ATTITUDE was tightened between YOGI BLUE and CLASSY HAZE, which shifted.  Approaching the 1st turn DAYSEAS RIGG checked YOGI BLUE while SPOOKIE’S GIFT shifted in checking MELODY SERENADE.  Through the back straight SPOOKIE’S GIFT shifted out hampering DAYSEAS RIGG.  Approaching the top turn DAYSEAS RIGG improved onto the heels of SPOOKIE’S GIFT and was checked.  Entering the home straight DAYSEAS RIGG shifted out off the heels of YOGI BLUE and hampered TITAN ASH.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m

MINNIE IMPACT was best to begin with GOT THE ATTITUDE slow.  Shortly after the start KAWASAKI NINJA shifted in tightening FOUR WAY FINAL and GOT THE ATTITUDE.  Approaching the 1st turn KAWASAKI NINJA, MINNIE IMPACT, CERVELO, DON’T DOUBLE UP and ROCKAWAY BEACH all raced tight and unbalanced.  Passing the catching pen GOT THE ATTITUDE improved onto the heels of ROCKAWAY BEACH.  Entering the back straight FOUR WAY FINAL shifted wide severely inconveniencing ROCKAWAY BEACH.
