The start of this event was delayed as stewards held for an interstate venue.
OBSIDIAN was best to begin. Shortly after the start DOWN THEY CAME and JAZ NIRO collided. Entering the 1st turn OBSIDIAN shifted out tightening ANGRY ALICE, FOR LUCK and ENDLESS SHADOW and JAZ NIRO which was following was inconvenienced.
BIG DAC was best to begin. Shortly after the start PRINCE FREDERICK shifted out checking TWEED CHIC and BLUE DEN. Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion ZAFONIC BOOM was tightened between TWEED CHIC and BLUE DEN. Entering the 1st turn BLUE DEN shifted in tightening TWEED CHIC which was forced to shift out off its heels. Approaching the top turn PRINCE FREDERICK and WALLY WHO CALLS raced tight and unbalanced and BIG DAC, GRIN AND WIN and MR. CODY which were following all suffered interference as a result. Through the top turn BLUE DEN shifted out checking WALLY WHO CALLS and GRIN AND WIN. Shortly after, ZAFONIC BOOM and GRIN AND WIN collided. Entering the home straight ZAFONIC BOOM shifted out colliding with BLUE DEN and GRIN AND WIN and WALLY WHO CALLS and TWEED CHIC were also hampered.
Race 3 – Winter Cup Heat 1

ELUSIVE DESIRE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start ARMED AND READY was tightened between FLASH REALITY and BLUE STATUESQUE which shifted and ARMED AND READY lost ground as a result. Down the home straight on the 1st occasion FLASH REALITY shifted in checking BLUE STATUESQUE. Entering the 1st turn ARMED AND READY and ELUSIVE DESIRE came together. ELUSIVE DESIRE shifted onto the running of BLUE STATUESQUE. Continuing through the turn BLUE STATUESQUE shifted out off the heels of RENOUF’S MAGIC and proceeded to race wide through the back straight. BLUE STATUESQUE raced wide down the home straight.
The greyhound BLUE STATUESQUE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
The greyhound ARMED AND READY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards spoke to trainer’s representative Mr. G Stella in regards to the greyhound’s performance. Mr. Stella made reference to, and stewards noted, the interference the greyhound received shortly after the start of the race. He also noted to stewards that typically the greyhound needs to lead early in order to win the race, as its last section is markedly weaker than its early sections.
Race 4 – Winter Cup Heat 2

APATITE was best to begin. Shortly after the start APATITE shifted out hampering SWAP YA. Down the running on the 1st occasion BULL TITAN and LADY ABIGAIL were tightened between YOGI BLUE and SWAP YA, both of which shifted. As a result BULL TITAN and LADY ABIGAIL were severely inconvenienced. Entering the 1st turn LADY ABIGAIL shifted out off the heels of BULL TITAN. BULL TITAN and RENATUS bumped entering the home straight.
Race 5 – Winter Cup Heat 3

CHEEKY CHANCE was best to begin. Shortly after the start MPINGO and GRAND ROMAN came together. Down the running on the 1st occasion GRAND ROMAN shifted in tightening MPINGO. Shortly after, GRAND ROMAN improved onto the heels of CHEEKY CHANCE and both greyhounds became unbalanced. Through the 1st turn MPINGO and GRAND ROMAN collided.
Race 6 – Winter Cup Heat 4

KNAVE, FABULOUS STORM and ZIPPING MIDGE were slow to begin. Entering the 1st turn VICTORY PRINCE shifted out checking KNAVE. Through the 1st turn TITAN ASH and MAIN STORY came together and ZIPPING MIDGE which was racing to the outside was checked. Through the back straight MAIN STORY shifted out off the heels of ZIPPING MIDGE and raced wide. Leaving the back straight MAIN STORY shifted in tightening KNAVE. Entering the home straight VICTORY PRINCE and TEE BRADY were tightened.
Race 7 – Winter Cup Heat 5 520m
Even start. Shortly after the start SENOR’S MISTRESS and MINER’S MOSS came together. A short time after SENOR’S MISTRESS shifted in colliding with SHERIDON. Through the 1st turn DON’T GO QUIETLY and HOPPING HOUDINI collided. Through the top turn SENOR’S MISTRESS shifted out off the heels of DON’T GO QUIETLY.
Race 8 – 4/5th Grade 600m
OXLEY RUBEY was slow to begin. Through the 1st turn BOGIE’S A STAR shifted out checking FAST BEAN and IVA VISION. NOT THE ONE which was following was forced to shift out off the heels of IVA VISION. Entering the home straight on the 1st occasion MINNIE IMPACT, FAST BEAN and IVA VISION raced tight and bumped. Shortly after, BOGIE’S A STAR shifted out tightening FAST BEAN and NOT THE ONE. Through the bottom turn NOT THE ONE shifted out off the heels of MINNIE IMPACT and raced wide. Approaching the turn into the home straight NOT THE ONE shifted in checking BOGIE’S A STAR. Down the home straight IVA VISION and OXLEY RUBEY were tight.
The greyhound BOGIE’S A STAR was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 9 – 4/5th Grade 520m
GRIM CREEPER, BREMER and FROSTY JAY JAY were slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion SUPER VELO was tightened between BREMER and GRIM CREEPER and lost ground. At the same time NO CALLARATAH shifted in tightening FROSTY JAY JAY. Through the top turn SUPER VELO shifted out off the heels of BREMER and as a result hampered FROSTY JAY JAY.
Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m
VIRUNGA was slow to begin. Down the home straight on the 1st occasion DON’T DOUBLE UP shifted in tightening SMASHNIAK GOLD. Approaching the 1st turn SMASHNIAK GOLD checked off the heels of GLOBAL DEEJAY. Through the top turn SMASHNIAK GOLD shifted out off the heels of GLOBAL DEEJAY.
The greyhound SMASHNIAK GOLD was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
