GENERAL

 

Race 1 – Maiden 520m

GALWAY THUNDER was slow to begin.  SMART SPIRIT began awkwardly.  Through the front straight on the 1st occasion TRANSMEDIA and SIDBO bumped.  Entering the 1st turn TRANSMEDIA was tightened for room between MILDUE and SIDBO, resulting in TRANSMEDIA losing ground.  Entering the home straight CLASSY BAMQUIN shifted out bumping GALWAY THUNDER.

 

The greyhound SANDY ISLAND was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. A Walsh that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 520m

SIR BLINK was slow to begin.  TIA MARIA began awkwardly.  Entering the 1st turn TIA MARIA, SIR BLINK and SUMMER GLORY all checked off heels.  SUMMER GLORY yielded ground.

 

The greyhound SUMMER GLORY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. R Burman that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Trainer Ms. C Suttle was interviewed in regards to failing to present GOTTA GET UP to Albion Park.  After considering the matter, Ms. Suttle good record and mitigating circumstances stewards fined Ms. Suttle $100 under Rule 31 and 10 days for the greyhound GOTTA GET UP.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

KAHUNA WEST was slow to begin.  HEIDI BENZ was best to begin.  Entering the 1st turn SMART ILLUSION shifted out making contact with MISS BECKY SAM, resulting in both greyhounds racing wider on the track.  In the back straight SMART ILLUSION checked off the heels of MISS BECKY SAM.  SMART ILLUSION raced wide in the back straight.

 

The greyhound KAHUNA WEST was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. P Carleton that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 2nd offence, 3 months plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

 

Race 4 – Novice 520m

DOOLEY’S FIT turned around in the starting boxes and took no part in the event.  FORWARD PASS was best to begin.  Shortly after the start FLASHMAN SAM was tightened for room between OUR GOLD and CHIEF HASSLER.  In the back straight GALWAY GALE and FLASHMAN SAM bumped.

 

The greyhound FLASHMAN SAM was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer’s representative Miss  P Rigg advised stewards that FLASHMAN SAM would be send for an immediate spell and was disappointed in the greyhound’s performance.

 

The greyhound DOOLEY’S FIT was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. B Dull was advised that the greyhound DOOLEY’S FIT would be charged under Rule 52 Unsatisfactory Performance, turning in boxes and must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 520m

OUTSIDE PASS and ALPHA ACHILLES were slow to begin.  SIMPATICO was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn OUTSIDE PASS checked off the heels of RUSTY’S IMAGE.  RUSTY’S IMAGE raced wide throughout the home straight.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade 520m

LIKE A SUNRISE was slow to begin.  Through the front straight on the 1st occasion PHANTOM REIGN checked off the heels of TORQUE FLIGHT, resulting in PHANTOM REIGN losing ground.  Entering the 1st turn TORQUE FLIGHT and SPRING DREAM checked off the heels of FAST BEAN, resulting in both TORQUE FLIGHT and SPRING DREAM losing ground.  Through the 1st turn DAYSEAS RIGG checked off the heels of CARDIAC KING, resulting in both greyhounds racing wider on the track.  Approaching the top turn TORQUE FLIGHT checked off the heels of CARDIAC KING and lost ground.  In the home straight CARDIAC KING and FAST BEAN bumped.

 

The greyhound TORQUE FLIGHT was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards interviewed trainer Mr. A Kennewell in regards to the greyhound’s performance.  Mr. Kennewell stated that the greyhound had suffered kennel stress leading up to the event and was also concerned about the greyhound running over the 520m.  Mr. Kennewell further added that he would be dropping TORQUE FLIGHT back in distance to the 431m for future performance.  Stewards noted his explanation.

 

Race 7 – 3/4th Grade 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start OH THAT’S NICE was tightened for room and lost ground between BIG YELLOW TAXI and MADE THAT WAY.  A short distance later MR. CODY was tightened for room and lost ground between PEARLS A PLENTY and ASTOUND YA.  Through the 1st turn ASTOUND YA checked off the heels of PEARLS A PLENTY taking BIG YELLOW TAXI and OH THAT’S NICE wider on the track.  Entering the back straight BIG YELLOW TAXI checked off the heels of ASTOUND YA, resulting in OH THAT’S NICE being checked and becoming unbalanced.

 

Race 8 – 0 – 3 Wins 600m

CHEEKY CHANCE and EL CHAD were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start GARRY JACK checked off the heels of SMASHNIAK GOLD.  CHEEKY CHANCE who was following was also checked.  Entering the front straight on the 1st occasion GARRY JACK shifted out hampering EL CHAD and MISS HUSSY.  Entering the 1st turn GARRY JACK shifted out checking EL CHAD.  Through the top turn CHEEKY CHANCE checked off the heels of BED OF NAILS, resulting in CHHEKY CHANCE losing ground.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m

GOLFING AMY was best to begin.  HAREEBA HAREEBA, FASHION GURU and MINNIE IMPACT were all slow to begin.  Shortly after the start TRU RYDER and FASHION GURU bumped.  Entering the 1st turn TRU RYDER was checked and lost ground between HAREEBA HAREEBA and FASHION GURU.  Entering the back straight MINNIE IMPACT checked off the heels of FASHION GURU.  Approaching the winning post ANGELIC MISS and HIGHLIFE bumped, resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m

MASTER CODY and COLROB GIRL were slow to begin.  BE ZANEY was best to begin.  Shortly after the start VAGUE MEMORIES checked off the heels of SIVAMET.  In the front straight on the 1st occasion SARAJEVO GIRL checked off the heels of VAGUE MEMORIES, resulting in SARAJEVO GIRL losing ground.  In the back straight VAGUE MEMORIES was tightened for room and lost ground between MASTER CODY and OCTOBER SPRING.  Entering the home straight OCTOBER SPRING shifted in checking COLROB GIRL.  In the home straight SIVAMET and SARAJEVO GIRL bumped.
