VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound LEADFOOT MAGIC performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.58

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 395m

SHAYLOR CLEDUS was best to begin with SEDUCTIVE TORCH slow.  Leaving the 1st turn SHEZA HUGGER shifted in hampering ELECTRIC BUNDY.  Through the top turn SPICY ATTITUDE shifted out hampering HOWARD HENO.  Entering the home straight SHEZA HUGGER and HOWARD HENO came together.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 395m

The greyhound DRAGON DUK was vetted pre-race, by order of stewards, as this greyhound raced on the 4th of August (previous day) at Ipswich. No apparent injuries were found and DRAGON DUK was passed fit to race. 

 

The greyhound SHOTOTSU was vetted pre race, no apparent injuries were found and the greyhound was passed fit to race.

 

PROWLER PROOF and SHOTOTUSU were best to begin.  Through the 1st turn TRAV’S HOPE shifted in checking DRAGON DUK.  Entering the back straight MACADAM shifted off the heels of SHOTOTUSU hampering CASEY UNDERCOVER.  Shortly after, NAMOR checked off the heels of DRAGON DUK.  Through the back straight MACADAM improved onto the heels of PROWLER PROOF and was checked.  Approaching the top turn CASEY UNDERCOVER clipped the heels of CELESTIAL SELENE and fell, taking no further competitive part in the event.  Shortly after, MACADAM improved onto the heels of PROWLER PROOF and both greyhounds lost ground as a result.  Through the top turn CELESTIAL SELENE and PROWLER PROOF collided.

 

The greyhound CASEY UNDERCOVER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 3 – Novice 395m

MISS MULLIGAN was best to begin with IVORY KING slow.  Shortly after the start VELOCITY AMY shifted in tightening SUNDAY SUNRISE.  Through the back straight LATIN DANCE and JIMMY BRUTE collided and LATIN DANCE lost ground.  CHATSWORTHY raced wide for the majority of the event.

 

The greyhound LATIN DANCE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned on the performance of LATIN DANCE trainer Ms. V Wisener stated that she believed the greyhound may have been low on confidence and that the interference suffered by this greyhound in the back straight may have been enough to result in a poor showing.  Stewards noted Ms. Wisener’s comments. Ms. Wisener undertook to inform stewards should any problems arise with the greyhound in subsequent days.

 

Race 4 – Novice 395m

YES GERONOMO was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start ON TIGHT LINES checked off the heels of NIL ALL DRAW.  Entering the back straight NIL ALL DRAW was tightened between IRISH MADAM and IVAN ELROY and lost ground.  Through the top turn NIL ALL DRAW checked off the heels of YES GERONOMO.  Leaving the top turn ON TIGHT LINES, YES GERONOMO and IRISH MADAM collided and became severely unbalanced.  NIL ALL DRAW which was following was forced to shift extremely wide entering the home straight.  Down the running ON TIGHT LINES shifted in colliding with BLACK BOMBER.

 

Race 5 – Maiden Final 395m

Even start.  Shortly after the start NOT TODAY MATE and FABULOUS TRAV were tightened between MIDNIGHT HAYZE and MUMMA’S HOPE.  Entering the back straight MUMMA’S HOPE checked off the heels of NOT TODAY MATE.  Through the back straight TASER SHOCK improved onto the heels of MIDNIGHT HAYZE and became unbalanced.  Entering the top turn TASER SHOCK shifted in checking MANHATTAN MISS, which lost ground.  Shortly after, HANNAH’S BELL and MANHATTAN MISS collided and MANHATTAN MISS lost ground.  NOT TODAY MATE and FABULOUS TRAV which were following were inconvenienced and NOT TODAY MATE lost ground as a result.

 

The greyhound MANHATTAN MISS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. D Trembath advised stewards that he would look to give the ground a short spell as a result of the run today.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade 395m

JESS NIRO was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start SIR BAZZ ATTACK and THRILLA MOMENT were tightened between QUEENIES BEST and SIP OF SHIRAZ which shifted.  Through the catching pen VELOCITY SPICE, MELODY SERENADE, FEARLESS DUK, QUEENIES BEST, SIR BAZZ ATTACK and THRILLA MOMENT all raced tight and became unbalanced.  Through the back straight VELOCITY SPICE checked off the heels of THRILLA MOMENT.  Approaching the top turn THRILLA MOMENT, SIR BAZZ ATTACK and VELOCITY SPICE came together.  Through the top turn THRILLA MOMENT and SIR BAZZ ATTACK collided with THRILLA MOMENT losing ground.  Down the home straight VELOCITY SPICE and SIR BAZZ ATTACK raced tight entering the home straight.

 

The greyhound MELODY SERENADE was vetted after an incident in the catching pen and no apparent injuries were found.

 

 

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Final 395m

CHAMPS was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn GOLD TOTAL and SUPA SMOOTH OSTI bumped.

 

Race 8 – 3/4th Grade 395m

Even start.  Through the 1st turn CLOUD LAND, WAZZ’S FANTASY, MIGHTY ROCKET and ANGELIC MISS were tight and unbalanced.  Shortly after, WAZZ’S FANTASY contacted the hindquarters of CLOUD LAND causing this greyhound to shift out off the heels of VEUVE and lose ground.  ANGELIC MISS which was following was inconvenienced.  Through the back straight ANGELIC MISS shifted in tightening CLOUD LAND.

 

The greyhound CLOUD LAND was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.  Trainer Mr. N Thompson advised stewards that he would look to give the greyhound an extended spell going forward.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 395m

NOT WORTH IT was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start GRAVITY WOLF and AUSPHIL GIRL came together.  Passing the catching pen MAYWYN’S POPPER checked off the heels of SO LONELY.  Entering the back straight GRAVITY WOLF shifted out off the heels of SO LONELY and lost ground.  Entering the top turn NOT WORTH IT and SO LONELY came together and lost ground.  MAYWYN’S POPPER and GRAVITY WOLF which were following were forced to shift wide into the turn.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

VALKYRIE ELLA and MR. SLY were slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn LADY CORSAIR, MISS OLYMPIA and SHAYLOR JAKE all came together.  Entering the back straight VALKYRIE ELLA shifted out checking MISS OLYMPIA which lost ground.  Approaching the top turn SHAYLOR JAKE checked off the heels of MR. SLY.  Through the top turn LADY CORSAIR shifted out off the heels of MARLEY MAGIC.  Over the concluding stages MARLEY MAGIC shifted in tightening LADY CORSAIR.

 

The greyhound MISS OLYMPIA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
