GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 331m

Even start with CAPTAIN MORGAN and PAUA TO THRILL both slow to begin.  Entering the back straight PAUA TO THRILL shifted out and made contact with VEE ROCKET, causing that greyhound to be checked.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight VEE ROCKET shifted out and contacted the heels of SOMERSET SUPREME and raced wide.  CAPTAIN MORGAN raced wide in the front straight.

 

When questioned the trainer of MISS ELEGANCE Mr. D Gilroy reported that MISS ELEGANCE had been racing consistently up until this race start however, it was given the opportunity to have a freshen up which in his view contributed to the greyhound racing well and wining tonight’s event.

 

The greyhound VEE ROCKET was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 1 331m

Even start with PIN POINT RUFF and SHIRAZ both slow to begin.  In the back straight PA TING shifted in and tightened I’M PROFESSIONAL causing this greyhound to be checked and lose some ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight I’M PROFESSIONAL contacted the heels of SHIRAZ and lost some ground.  PA TING gave ground over the concluding stages.

 

The greyhound I’M PROFESSIONAL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

Race 3 – Maiden Heat 2 331m

NASHSTAR and SEIKA TICKET were best to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight ARRIRA shifted out and contacted INNER WISDOM causing INNER WISDOM to be checked.  SPARKS FLY was checked as a result of this incident.  Leaving the back straight DARK DIXIE contacted the heels of SHEZA HUGGER causing DARK DIXIE to lose momentum.

 

Race 4 – Maiden Heat 3 331m

Even start with ARCTIC KING and FAST CODY slow to begin.  In the back straight PRINCESS CHARLEY shifted in and tightened HANNAH’S BELL causing it to lose ground.  Rounding the home turn CARAMEL DELIGHT shifted out and raced wide.  Leaving the back straight ARCTIC KING shifted out and raced wide.

 

When questioned trainer of ARCTIC KING Ms. S Hunt explained that ARCTIC KING was having its 1st run back after suffering a significant injury and had concerns whether or not the greyhound can handle a circle track and may restrict the greyhound’s racing to the straight track at Capalaba.  Stewards noted her explanation.

 

Race 5 – Maiden Final 331m

CELESTIAL SELENE and TIME FOR ABBY were best to begin.  FABULOUS KATIE was slow to begin.  In the back straight MAGIC MOVER shifted out and hampered MAGIC IN ME.

 

The greyhound ALBARTROSS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned trainer Ms. S Hunt explained that the greyhound races best when in front and after considering the exceptional early speed of the race she was not disappointed with its effort.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade 395m

GOLD PLATED was slow to begin.  KAPALUA was very slowly away.  Passing the catching pen SHANGHAI LIL and MISS OLYMPIA came together.  Entering the back straight SHANGHAI LIL checked off the heels of BALL ALLEY ANNIE and lost ground.  GOLD PLATED was wide through the top turn.  Entering the top turn BALL ALLEY ANNIE checked off the heels of MISS OLYMPIA.  The ‘all clear’ was delayed to allow stewards the opportunity to view the film of the start of the race in respect of KAPALUA failing to leave the boxes at the start of the race.  After viewing the official films available stewards deemed that KAPALUA was a runner and declared the ‘all clear’.

 

The greyhound KAPALUA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. P Lavis that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 395m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade 395m

JIMARY LADY and BIG WINSTON were best to begin.  Shortly after the start MIGHTY ROCKET shifted out and JOHNATHAN’S HOPE shifted in which resulted in SENOR SOCKS and COLD HARD TRUTH both being checked and losing ground.  Rounding the turn into the back straight JOHNATHAN’S HOPE was tightened for racing room between MIGHTY ROCKET and BIG WINSTON and lost ground.

 

Race 8 – 4/5th Grade 395m

Even start.  Shortly after the start MR SNEAKY SNEAKY shifted in and tightened the racing room of the runners to his inside and as a consequence QUEENIES BEST, MAJESTIC BEACH and SUPA SMOOTH OSTI all lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight SIP OF SHIRAZ contacted the heels of MR SNEAKY SNEAKY and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight DAYSEAS FREDDIE and SIP OF SHIRAZ bumped with both greyhounds losing ground.

 

The greyhound SIP OF SHIRAZ was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 – Novice 331m

Even start.  Shortly after the start SWITCHIN’ SIDES was tightened for racing room between SUMMER’S RACER and BEEJAY MCROCKET and lost some ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight SWITCHIN’ SIDES shifted in and as a consequence JIMARY JAMYSON made heavy contact with that greyhound, causing both greyhounds to be hampered.  SUMMER’S RACER and BEEJAY MCROCKET were checked as a result of this incident.

 

The greyhound SWITCHIN’ SIDES was vetted and found to have suffered facial bruising and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 10 – Novice 331m

WITCHES RICHERS and PRIM AND PRIZZY were best to begin.  JACKPOT’S GIRL was slow to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight PRIM AND PRIZZY fell whilst racing tightly between EFFIE ROSE HI and ANTI AMIGO.  PRIM AND PRIZZY failed to complete the event.  JACKPOT’S GIRL was checked as a result of this incident.

 

The greyhound PRIM AND PRIZZY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 11 – 5th Grade 395m

Even start.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ISLAND FANTASY shifted in and tightened GEE DAFFY, which in turn checked COSMIC TALEYA, causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  NAUGHTY TO GO was checked as a result of this incident.  In the back straight COSMIC TALEYA shifted in and tightened ADAM’S ANGEL causing that greyhound to be checked.  GEE DAFFY raced wide rounding the final turn.

 

Race 12 – 3/4th Grade 395m

Even start.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ZABALETA shifted in and tightened YOUR DEAL, causing this greyhound to be hampered.  VICKI ROSE HI and SOCCER BALL were checked as a result of this incident.
