VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

Race 1 – Maiden 520m

SIR BLINK and SANRICO WENDY were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start GEE MAA shifted in colliding with HOBO JANE which lost ground. Through the 1st turn SANRICO WENDY checked off the heels of SIR BLINK and lost ground.  In the back straight GEE MAA checked off the heels and fell taking no further competitive part in the event.  COLOSSAL SUZIE which was following was hampered.  Entering the back straight HOBO JANE and BELLA CRUSADER came together.  Through the top turn TREVON’S FURY tightened BOOTY BEACH.

 

The greyhound GEE MAA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – Novice 520m

CARTEL QUEEN began awkwardly and BELLA LEE was slow.  Entering the 1st turn LEEROY RIPPER checked off the heels and CARTEL QUEEN which was following was hampered.  Through the turn LARINA LEE and DOOLEY’S SPRITE collided and were unbalanced.  Leaving the 1st turn DOOLEY’S SPRITE improved onto the heels of LARINA LEE and both greyhounds were checked.

 

When questioned on the improved performance of MADAM MEDUSA trainer Mr. B McNamara advised stewards that over the last fortnight he had been putting extra work into the greyhound and he believed that its fitness was improving, as well as the greyhound maturing.  He also made reference to its recent fall which may have affected confidence, and in regards to its last start at Ipswich he advised that he believed the greyhound had struck its head on the starting boxes in this event and this may have contributed to the poor performance.  Mr. McNamara further advised that he did not support the greyhound in this event.  Stewards noted Mr. McNamara’s comments.

 

Race 3 – Novice 520m

SPECIAL VISION was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start ROSABEL and LOCHILIME were both tightened.  Entering the 1st turn JUST BE GUN shifted out checking NO WAY ARNI, ELITE SOX and ROSABEL.  ROSABEL was forced wide through the 1st turn as a result.  Through the turn ELITE SOX and NO WAY ARNI came together.  Shortly after, NO WAY ARNI, ROSABEL and ELITE SOX collided and became unbalanced.  Through the top turn NO WAY ARNI and LOCHILIME collided with LOCHILIME becoming unbalanced.

 

The greyhound ROSABEL was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind foot and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 4 – 0 – 3 wins 600m

COLLIDER GIRL was best to begin with SMAUG’S BOUNTY and MERCEDES LASS slow.  Shortly after the start GALWAY GALE was tightened and lost ground.  Through the home straight on the 1st occasion MERCEDES LASS and ANOTHER HASSLER collided.  In the back straight BONNIE BRAE and ANOTHER HASSLER came together with ANOTHER HASSLER losing ground.  Entering the top turn BONNIE BRAE checked off heels.  Leaving the top turn BONNIE BRAE checked off heels.  Over the concluding stages EBONY’S SECRET checked off the heels of COLLIDER GIRL.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start ARISTOTLE and MY EYES ONLY were tightened.  Through the 1st turn ARISTOTLE checked off heels while LEHMAN BENZ was wide.  Leaving the 1st turn VELOCITY ELLE and ARISTOTLE came together and VELOCITY ELLE lost ground.  Through the back straight ULTRA BLUE checked off the heels of LEHMAN BENZ.  LEHMAN BENZ was wide in the home straight.

 

The greyhound VELOCITY ELLE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 2 520m

GOT A BROTHER and GUNNER MAGIC were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start SIVAMET tightened BRODIE’S MEMORY.  Through the 1st turn GUNNER MAGIC checked off heels.  Entering the back straight AZARIAH and DARCY’S CURSE raced tight and bumped.  Through the top turn AZARIAH improved onto the heels of DARCY’S CURSE and both greyhounds became unbalanced.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 3 520m

MINNIE IMPACT was best to begin with WILDASH DUKE slow.  Approaching the 1st turn HARA’S SAMUEL, DOOLEY’S FIT and OUR CHALLENGE were tight, causing DOOLEY’S FIT to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  WILDASH DUKE which was following was hampered.

 

The greyhound DOOLEY’S FIT was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – 4/5th Grade 600m

CHEEKY CHANCE and CHEEKY FREYER were best to begin with MAGIC KITCHEN and SHE’S GOT ISSUES slow.  Through the 1st turn OKAY YETTA and CHEEKY FREYER came together.  Shortly after SHE’S GOT ISSUES and OKAY YETTA collided.  Entering the bottom turn GUNNA WINK checked off heels and collided with SHE’S GOT ISSUES.  Entering the top turn NO CALLARATAH shifted in and tightened MAGIC KITCHEN which lost ground.  Entering the home straight GUNNA WINK improved onto the heels of NO CALLARATAH and this greyhound lost ground.

 

The greyhound NO CALLARATAH was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

 

 

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade 395m

HOWARD HENO was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn SUPA SMOOTH OSTI, BLUE TARTAN, WALLY WHO CALLS, SHYAN YAHOO and BUTCHULLA BOY all collided and became unbalanced with BLUE TARTAN losing ground.  Leaving the top turn BUTCHULLA BOY improved onto the heels of BAY OF SPRITE and both were unbalanced.  Entering the home straight WALLY WHO CALLS contacted the hindquarters of SUPA SMOOTH OSTI causing this greyhound to become unbalanced.  SUPA SMOOTH OSTI, WALLY WHO CALLS and BUTCHULLA BOY were tight approaching the winning post.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 395m

SISTA TASHA was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn PACIFIC SPRING, CHEVALEIR NUIT, DAME MELBA OSTI, JAY BAY QUEEN and SISTA TASHA all collided and became unbalanced.  PACIFIC SPRING and JAY BAY QUEEN were wide through the top turn.
