ERIC THOMSON MEMORIAL MAIDEN HEAT 1 520M

SPOOKIE DYNAMIC was best to begin.  Shortly after the start SILVER STUNNER was tightened and momentarily hampered.  CRACKERJACK RUBY and RUMBLE SOLDIER collided shortly after the start.  In the front straight BUTTERFLY IS SHE checked off heels and lost ground.  SILVER STUNNER that was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the 1st turn BUTTERFLY IS SHE, SILVER STUNNER and CRACKERJACK RUBY collided and were unbalanced.  Leaving the 1st turn SIMMSY’S NINERON checked off heels.  Entering the home straight SIMMSY’S NINERON shifted out and raced wide.

 

The greyhound CRACKERJACK RUBY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

ERIC THOMSON MEMORIAL MAIDEN HEAT 2 520M

FANTASIA LEE and MAGIC BARB were best to begin while GALWAY KITE and OGODEI STAR were marginally slow.  Shortly after the start GALWAY KITE was tightened and momentarily hampered.  In the front straight LITTLE EDDIE, ALPHA RHEA and KULU COSMO raced tight and all lost ground as a result.  In the 1st turn LITTLE EDDIE shifted out and raced wide.  Entering the top turn KULU COSMO checked off heels and lost ground.  In the top turn KULU COSMO shifted out causing ALPHA RHEA and GALWAY KITE that were following to be hampered.  Entering the home straight FANTASIA LEE checked off heels.

ALPHA PHOEBE was best to begin.  Shortly after the start BLACKHEART BELLA, JUST LIKE YAZZA and SWIFT BARB collided resulting in SWIFT BARB and JUST LIZE YAZZA losing ground.  Entering the 1st turn JUST LIKE YAZZA was tightened and momentarily hampered.  Leaving the back straight JUST LIKE YAZZA and BLITZEN LEE raced tight.

ERIC THOMSON MEMORIAL MAIDEN HEAT 4 520M

LOCH ME UP, LET’S GO FABIO and HAY CYNDIE were slow to begin.  HAY CYNDIE was checked shortly after the start.  In the front straight BARCIA JEANES was tightened and lost ground.  Shortly after, ALPHA HEMERA and HAY CYNDIE collided and lost ground.  In the 1st turn BARCIA JEANES shifted out inconveniencing HAY CYNDIE.  Shortly after, FRIENDZ was hampered.  In the top turn ALPHA HEMERA improved onto the heels of LET’S GO FABIO and both greyhounds were checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, BARCIA JEANES and KULU HIPSTER collided and were unbalanced.

 

The greyhound ALPHA HEMERA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound LET’S GO FABIO underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Stewards had some concerns with the racing manners of BARCIA JEANES in the top turn however, could not be comfortably satisfied that there was sufficient evidence to pursue a charge against the greyhound.

ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND NOVICE 395M

TRENCH VAPOUR was best to begin while REGAL WAZ was slow.  Shortly after the start ALPHA CHANIS, NO VISA, ITCHY FINGER and BILL’S SPECIAL collided and were unbalanced.  In the 1st turn OWN GOAL and ALPHA CHANIS collided and lost ground.  NO VISA that was following was severely inconvenienced and lost ground.  Entering the top turn NO VISA was tightened and lost ground.  TRENCH VAPOUR and SPRITELY BILL raced tight entering the home straight.

 

The greyhound NO VISA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

ACE GAMBLER, ALBURY WAY and MR. BANKS were best to begin while ME MATE MOUSE was slow.  Leaving the 1st turn INDIAN GIVER was checked and lost ground.  Entering the top turn ONE IN SIX was tightened and lost ground.  In the top turn ALBURY WAY checked off heels.  Shortly after, MR. BANKS and ALBURY WAY collided and were unbalanced.

THIRTY TALKS @ STUD 5th GRADE 520M

MAM’S MAGIC was best to begin while BERGAMO was slow.  BERGAMO and ROAD SCHOLAR were tightened shortly after the start.  In the front straight MUMMA’S HOPE and ROAD SCHOLAR collided and were unbalanced.  SON OF BETTY that was following was inconvenienced and lost ground.  MUMMA’S HOPE and ROAD SCHOLAR continued to race tight and unbalanced entering the 1st turn and this caused MUMMA’S HOPE to lose ground.  In the top turn SON OF BETTY shifted out and marred the running of BERGAMO and both greyhounds lost significant ground.  Entering the home straight MAM’S MAGIC and ROAD SCHOLAR collided and were unbalanced.

 

Stewards advised trainer Mr. M Menicanin that the greyhound SON OF BETTY would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial, 520m all tracks.

GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND BEST 8 395M

TUBBY TURNER was best to begin.  Leaving the 1st turn LETHAL KID and PLUM JAM raced tight and unbalanced.  Entering the back straight COSMO BILL was tightened and lost ground.  Entering the top turn LETHAL KID shifted out hampering SUPER LUIGI causing this greyhound to lose ground.  In the top turn RAMBLIN’ ROSE checked off heels and lost ground.

 

The ‘all clear’ was delayed as stewards examined the patrol films to determine whether the presence of ducks on the track had any impact on any of the runners.  After the stewards were satisfied that no greyhound was materially affected the ‘all clear’ was signalled.

 

The greyhound SUPER LUIGI underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

WESTERN HONEY was best to begin while CONVEX and REGAL BILL were marginally slow.  In the 1st turn WAT DAT GUN was hampered and lost ground.  In the top turn OPPORTUNE KNOCKA was tightened and lost ground.  Shortly after, WESTERN HONEY checked off heels and lost ground.

THUNDER FURY and JOHN SAID THIS were best to begin.  In the 1st turn LOUIE THE FLYER and HEARTLAND FLYER were tightened causing HEARTLAND FLYER to lose ground.  In the back straight RUNYA DOWN was checked and lost ground.  In the top turn LOUIE THE FLYER and HEARTLAND FLYER were checked and lost ground.

BE FEARLESS was best to begin while SUPERBANK was very slowly away.  In the 1st turn DOLLAR AND CENT checked off heels and collided with NEVER A DOUBT and REGAL TRAV and all 3 greyhounds became unbalanced.  In the top turn DOLLAR AND CENT and NEVER A DOUBT collided.

THE MANLY HOTEL 5th GRADE HEAT 4 395M

BOGAN FLYER was best to begin.  KULU RUSTY and COSMIC REX were tightened shortly after the start as BOGAN FLYER shifted in.  In the 1st turn COSMIC REX, KULU RUSTY, SO SABRINA, ON TIGHT LINES and SHAKEY TANGO collided and lost significant ground.  Entering the back straight COSMIC REX checked off heels and collided with SHAKEY TANGO and both greyhounds lost ground.  Shortly after, ON TIGHT LINES blundered and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn SO SABRINA checked off heels and collided with KULU RUSTY.

 

The greyhound ON TIGHT LINES underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.
