RACE REPORTS

 

1.

QLD JUNIOR HARNESS RACING ASS INC MAIDEN HEAT 1 331M

FANTASTIC RUFF was best to begin.  Shortly after the start RUBY HAYZE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight SYFY HERO was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight FANTASTIC RUFF and KING DIESEL collided resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  SONTREI MESCUAL which was trailling was hampered as a consequence.  At the same time HAY HOPEY and SMASHNIAK BATMAN collided resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.

 

The greyhound SONTREI MESCUAL underwent a post race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

2.

JUNIOR HARNESS RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 331M

MY GLORIOUS GAL and ASPEN VALLEY were best to begin.  SPICE THAT and SHEZA DRYVA were marginally slow to begin.  Entering the back straight SPICE THAT commenced to give ground and finish a considerable distance from the remainder of the field.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight SHEZA DRYVA shifted out which hampered the running of STELLA STAR.  Approaching the turn into the front straight SHEZA DRYVA checked across the heels of AMARETTO HAYZE resulting in both greyhounds to lose ground.  Entering the front straight ASPEN VALLEY and CRAZY EMJAY collided.

 

The greyhound SPICE THAT underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 6 weeks.

HARNESS RACING FOR KIDS NOVICE 331M

JOHN’S CHOICE and IRON MAID were best to begin.  IXCHEL was marginally slow to begin.  Entering the back straight LUCY LIZZIE raced wide rounding the turn out of the back straight.  Entering the front straight LUCY LIZZIE improved onto the heels of HELLO BREE.

 

The greyhound LUCY LIZZIE underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off fore foot and was stood down for a period of 7 days.  When questioned over the performance of the greyhound trainer Mr. G Brennan said the greyhound was having its 2nd race start after winning at its 1st performance on the 22 October 2017.  He said that he had been training during that time in an endeavour  to step the greyhound up to a 520m distance and trailed well leading up to today’s race.  He said that he was expecting the greyhound to win however, after it failed to muster speed in the early stages and then had a tendency to race wide he was satisfied with the greyhound’s overall performance.  He said that he did not support the greyhound in today’s event as he was of the view that it would start a very short price favourite.

PONY RACING KIDS 5-17 YEARS 5th GRADE 395M

Even start with the exception of YES GERONOMO which was marginally slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight TREVON’S FURY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground and shortly after collided heavily with BETTER SIZE resulting in both greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight YES GERONOMO checked across the heels of SHOTOTSU and lost ground.

 

The greyhound BETTER SIZE underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin  and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

The greyhound TREVON’S FURY underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off hind webbing and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

5.

MINI TROTTING IS GREAT 5th GRADE 395M

Even start with the exception of ME MATE MOUSE and RAQUEL’S MAGIC which were both slow to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight REAGAN TOKAAM shifted out which hampered the running of PINATA.  Rounding the turn into the front straight ME MATE MOUSE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the front straight ME MATE MOUSE shifted out and turned its head and marred the running of REAGAN TOKAAM and PINATA.  As a result of this incident RAQUEL’S MAGIC was checked resulting in all greyhounds to lose considerable ground.

 

Stewards advised trainer Mr. M Edwards that the greyhound ME MATE MOUSE would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 2nd offence, 3 months plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 395m all tracks.

MINI TROTTING FOR 5-17 YEARS 5th GRADE 395M

Even start with the exception of GOLD LINER which was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn ANOTHER RED was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  OLD MOON MADNESS, SAM CARD and PINK SUNSET which were all trailing were checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Entering the back straight GOLD LINER was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  SAM CARE raced wide rounding the turn out of the back straight.

 

The greyhound GODL LINER underwent a post race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

FB.COM.QJHRA 4/5th GRADE 395M

Even start.  Shortly after the start SWEET AND CLASSY was tightened for racing room, severely checked and fell taking no further part in the race.  In the back straight ODESSA shifted out which checked the running of PINK AXLE resulting in that greyhound to lose ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight THROTTLE ON and PINK AXLE collided.

 

The greyhound SWEET AND CLASSY underwent a post race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

#QJHRA 3/4th GRADE 395M

Even start with the exception of LIKA ZIRCON which was marginally slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn SMASHNIAK CLASS, COSMIC ELITE and YOU SLIPPY GYPSY were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight DOGMATIC commenced to give ground to finish a considerable distance from the remainder of the field.  Leaving the back straight SMASHNIAK CLASS and CLASSY CHURCHIE were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound DOGMATIC underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 28 days.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM QJHRA 5th GRADE 331M

Even start with the exception of SAGE OF OMAHA which was marginally slow to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight BUDDY TOKAAM improved onto the hindquarters of ULLO BELLS resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  ARABELLA EMJAY and FOLLOW THE DUK which were trailing were checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight LILY’S BEAN and FOLLOW THE DUK collided resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  In the front straight ULLO BELLS and SAGE OF OMAHA collided.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM QJHRA 5th GRADE 331M

The ‘all clear’ was delayed to avail the stewards the opportunity to view the replay of the patrol film in particular into the position of the lure in the front straight during the latter stages of the race.  After viewing the film although the stewards were of the view that the position of the lure was less than 5m by the required rule that no greyhound was affected by the position of the lure and therefore gave the ‘all clear’

 

BEST STRATEGY was best to begin.  KAAN PAKMAK was slow to begin.  In the back straight SHE’S CRANKING was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight MAGIC JOAN improved onto the heels of NIGHT TERROR resulting in that greyhound to be checked and lose ground.

GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND 5th GRADE 331M

Even start.  Shortly after the start GRAND ROSIE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight WIGGLE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight BLACK SCORPION improved onto the heels of ABELE and was checked as a consequence.  THOMAS ROSE HI and GRAND ROSIE which were racing to its outside were checked as a result of this incident and lost ground.  WIGGLE commenced to give ground rounding the turn into the front straight to finish a considerable distance from the remainder of the field.

 

The greyhound WIGGLE underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the stomach muscle and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

Even start with the exception of SPARK YOU UP which was marginally slow to begin and ROYAL ALBERT and COLLIDING which were slow to begin.  Leaving the back straight COLLIDING checked across heels and lost ground.

 

The greyhound COLLIDING underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
