GARRARD’S
HORSE AND HOUND NOVICE – 520M NEVER
WALK ALONE, POSTY’S GIRL and VANDERWEGHE were all slow to begin. Shortly after the start, POSTY’S GIRL and
VANDERWEGHE bumped and were momentarily hampered. Approaching the winning post, on the first
occasion, STEAK SANDWHICH bumped with another runner and lost ground. Entering the turn out of the front
straight, ARE JAY LOCHIE shifted outwards and collided with NEVER WALK ALONE,
resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground. VANDERWEGHE, which was trailing, checked
off those runners heels and lost ground.
Approaching the turn into the back straight, QUEEN WERINA checked off
heels and lost ground. At the same
time, POSTY’S GIRL checked off heels, shifted out and collided with ARE JAY
LOCHIE, resulting in that runner to be severely checked and lose considerable
ground. Entering the back straight,
JUST TO CLASSIE bumped the running rail and was momentarily hampered. Approaching the turn into the home
straight, QUEEN WERINA improved onto the heels of another runner and shifted
outwards. STEAK SANDWHICH, which was
trailing, improved onto that runners heels and fell as a consequence taking
no further part in the event. POSTY’S GIRLS and ARE JAY LOCHIE, which were
trailing, were severely checked and lost ground as a consequence. The
greyhound JUST TO CLASSIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and
was found to have sustained an injury to the off side hip and was stood down
for a period of 10 days. The
greyhound STEAK SANDWHICH underwent a post-race veterinary examination and
was found to have sustained an injury to the back and was stood down for a
period of 7 days. |

UBET TAPPY MA5 (1) –
520M Shortly after
the start, DISCO DOLLY and BUTTON PUSHER were tightened for room and
checked. Entering the turn out of the
front straight, COOKIE NO CREAM was tightened for room and momentarily
hampered. Approaching the turn into
the back straight, RACK TAP RACK checked off heels and lost ground. Rounding the turn into the back straight,
FROSTY AJAY was tightened for room and checked. Entering the back straight, FROSTY AJAY was
bumped by another runner, checked and lost ground. Rounding the turn out of the back straight,
DISCO DOLLY was tightened for room and checked. The
greyhound FROSTY AJAY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was
found to have post-exercise distress syndrome and was stood down for a period
of 10 days. Stewards advised Trainer R. Attard that
FROSTY AJAY would be required to complete a satisfactory steward’s trial and
veterinary examination prior to being permitted to start again. |

THIRTY TALKS @ STUD MA5 (2) – 520M Shortly after
the start, REPTAR and THAT HOUDINI bumped and lost ground. Entering the turn out of the front
straight, BRIGHT SATELLITE and ARE JAY DUREE collided, resulting in both
runners to be checked. Shortly after,
TURN AND BURN shifted outwards and collided with ARE JAY DUREE, resulting in
both runners to be severely checked and lose considerable ground. Approaching the turn into the back
straight, THAT HOUDINI checked off heels.
Entering the home straight, BRIGHT SATELLITE and THAT HOUDINI bumped and
were momentarily hampered. |

occasion, MR. BELVEDERE was tightened for room and checked. ARDEN STREET, which was trailing, was
checked as a consequence. Entering the
turn out of the front straight, CYN’S MAGIC was tightened for room and
checked. Approaching the turn out of
the back straight, ARDEN STREET checked off heels. The
greyhound MAGOOLEY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found
to have sustained an injury to the off hind toe and was stood down for a
period of 14 days. |

PHOTOGRAPHY 5TH GRADE (1) – 520M Shortly after the start, EMMA’S MAGIC bumped with another runner and
lost ground. In the front straight on
the first occasion, CHAMPAGNE SALLY was bumped by another runner and
momentarily hampered. Approaching the
turn out of the front straight, FIRE TO RAIN was tightened for room and
checked. CHAMPAGNE SALLY, which was
racing trailing, was checked as a consequence. Approaching the turn into the back
straight, CHAMPAGNE SALLY bumped with another runner and was momentarily
hampered. Rounding the turn into the back
straight, CHAMPAGNE SALLY was tightened between runners and checked. Rounding the turn into the home straight,
MAYWYNS NOISE was bumped by another runner and checked. The greyhound CHAMPAGNE SALLY underwent a post-race veterinary
examination and no apparent injuries were found. |

GRADE - 710M Rounding the
turn out of the back straight, SAY GOOD DAY and BERGAMO bumped and were
momentarily hampered. Rounding the
turn into the front straight on the first occasion, GALWAY CHEETA, SAY GOOD
DAY and BERGAMO all collided and were checked as a consequence. Rounding the turn out of the front
straight, SAY GOOD DAY and BERGAMO collided, resulting in both runners to be
checked. Leaving the back straight,
and for the remainder of the event, BERGAMO turned its head outwards and
marred the running of SAY GOOD DAY on a number of occasions, resulting in
both of those greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground
as a consequence. Stewards’
advised trainer, Mr T Zammit, the greyhound BERGAMO
would be stood down pursuant to GAR 69 Marring, 1st Offence, with the
greyhound to be stood down for 28 days and to perform a satisfactory
steward’s trial, 710m, at the track it
offended, prior to racing. Stewards
fined Trainer K. Galloway the sum of $50 under GAR 46(1)(b)
for presenting his greyhounds GALWAY PANTHER and GALWAY CHEETA with the
incorrect rugs at the appointed time. |

the start, ALPHA VALENTINE and ALPH CHAOS collided, resulting in both runners
to be checked. Approaching the winning
post on the first occasion, IZY GOLD was tightened between runners and
checked. Approaching the turn out of
the front straight, ALPHA VALENTINE contacted the hindquarters of AMBER ALE,
resulting in both runners to be checked.
