Race Reports

 

Race 1 – UBET – DOWNLOAD THE APP MAIDEN – 520M

 

RIPPLE RUMBLE and ELUSIVE STAR were best to begin, BEE SOLO and VELOCITY MELINKA were marginally slow.  Shortly after the start, OXLEY ONE and TAHBILK bumped.  In the 1st turn, ELUSIVE BALLARD and OXLEY ONE raced tight and checked, causing ELUSIVE BALLARD to become unbalanced and shift out.  VELOCITY MELINKA, which was trailing, collided into the rear of OXLEY ONE and lost significant ground as a result.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, TAHBILK and ELUSIVE STAR raced tight, causing both greyhounds to become unbalanced and lose momentum.  ELUSIVE BALLARD, which was trailing, shifted out to avoid those greyhounds.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, ELUSIVE BALLARD and ELUSIVE STAR raced tight and checked.  OXLEY ONE, which was trailing, was impeded and lost momentum

 

Race 2 - THIRTY TALKS @ STUD NOVICE – 520M

 

CYNDIE WHO and UNIQUE LEIGH were best to begin.  INOUNO began awkwardly and was very slow as a result.  Leaving the 1st turn, UNIQUE LEIGH shifted in causing CYNDIE WHO, which was racing to its inside, to come in contact with the running rail and lose ground.  Shortly after, UNIQUE LEIGH was impeded and lost momentum.  INOUNO raced wide through the turn into the back straight, and also through the turn into the front straight. 

 

Stewards’ questioned licensed trainer, Mr T Zammit, in relation to the improved performance of the greyhound, NURBURG.  Mr Zammit stated that the greyhound was coming back from an injury and had trialled reasonably well recently, although he was still surprised by its good performance tonight. Mr T Zammit further stated it was his intention to race the greyhound over the same distance moving forward.

 

Stewards’ questioned trainer’s representative, Mr T Elson, in relation to the performance of the greyhound CYNDIE WHO.  Mr Elson stated that the greyhound didn’t perform as expected over the distance, and the greyhound would race over the shorter distances moving forward. 

 

The greyhound CYDNIE WHO underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound INOUNO underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 7 days

 

Race 3 - BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY MA5 – 395M

 

LUCKY SALLY and HOLLY KNOCKS were best to begin, SPRING RUNNER was marginally slow.  At the 1st turn, ANOTHER RED was tightened for racing room and became unbalanced. CIANNA’S ANGEL, which was trailing, was momentarily impeded.  SMACK DAB raced wide through the turn into the front straight.  Midway in the front straight, WHEATACRE was impeded and shifted out.

 

Race 4 - WITHCOTT HOTEL 0-3 WINS – 600M

 

BROTHER DESY was best to begin, GALWAY PANTHER was marginally slow.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, SLICE OF CAKE and NITRO NORMA bumped.  Shortly after, GALWAY PANTHER and SLICE OF CAKE checked.  Leaving the turn out of the front straight, GALWAY PANTHER and NITRO NORMA raced tight and bumped.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, JACKIE’S LADY checked off heels, stumbled, and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, JACKIE’S LADY shifted out sharply and did not show due attention to the lure as it did. This action forced GALWAY PANTHER which was racing to its outside to also go wide. Both greyhounds continued to race wide for the remainder of the race.

 

The greyhound JACKIE’S LADY underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Connection to the greyhound JACKIE’S LADY was advised that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69(b) Failing to Pursue with Injury with a stand down period of 10 days, and greyhound to perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial, prior to racing.

 

Race 5 - TWITTER @ BRISGREYS BEST 8 – 395M

 

COMETRON FLYER was marginally slow to begin.  At the 1st turn, CAPTAIN’S KNOCK and CRAZY EMJAY were both tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, I’M GLAD checked off heels and lost ground.

 

Race 6 - GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND 5TH GRADE (1) – 520M

 

SILVER STUNNER was marginally slow to begin, QUITE SINCERE was very slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, NIKKI NETTLE and AMBER ALE raced tight and checked, causing both greyhounds to become severely unbalanced and lose ground.  Shortly after, NIKKI NETTLE and AMBER ALE raced tight and checked, causing both greyhounds to become severely unbalanced and lose ground.  Shortly after, NIKKI NETTLE and AMBER ALE collided heavily causing both greyhounds to lose considerable ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, BRITTANY TALKS was tightened for racing room, became unbalanced and lost ground.

 

The greyhound AMBER ALE underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side fibula and was stood down for a period

 

Race 7 - SKY RACING MIXED 4/5TH GRADE – 520M

 

SHOES TO FILL was best to begin, YEAH OKAY and ALPHA VALENTINE were marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, CLASSY CASSIE, DAZE LIKE THESE and RULE THE ROAD raced tight and bumped on occasion.  Leaving the 1st turn, DAZE LIKE THESE was impeded and lost momentum.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, RULE THE ROAD shifted in, which impeded CLASSY CASSIE.  Shortly after, CLASSY CASSIE checked off heels and lost ground.

 

Race 8 - FABERGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE 5TH GRADE FINAL – 520M

 

MONEY FOR JAM and INDIVIDUAL RICHY were best to begin, PRECIOUS SAL was slow.  Shortly after the start, STROGANOFF shifted out causing SUPER CESC to be tightened for racing room and lose ground.  Approaching the 1st turn, STROGANOFF was tightened for racing room, checked off heels and lost substantial ground as a consequence.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, NAKURU checked off heels.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight, STEAL A KISS was tightened for racing room and lost momentum. 

 

The greyhound STROGANOFF underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 - BRISGREYS.COM 5TH GRADE (2) – 520M

 

CRACKERJACK RUBY and ARABIAN GO DANI were best to begin.  WAZZA WHO began awkwardly and as a consequence was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn, WAZZA WHO improved onto the rear of LION’S BLUE and ELUSIVE ARROW and became unbalanced losing ground as a result. ELUSIVE ARROW and LIONS’ BLUE also lost ground as a result of that contact.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, CRACKERJACK RUBY was tightened for racing room and lost momentum.

 

Race 10 - UBET TAPPY 5TH GRADE (3) – 520M

 

BIG TRIGGER and LOVE THE LOOK were both best to begin, HAY BILLY and JAYCEE’S LADY both reared at the start and as a consequence were slow to begin.  STRUDEL and NEVER WALK ALONE raced tight through the 1st turn, losing momentum as they did.  Shortly after, BLACKHEART BELLA, STRUDEL and NEVER WALK ALONE checked, causing all greyhounds to lose ground.  Midway down the front straight, BIG TRIGGER and ARCH RIVAL raced tight and bumped.
