The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound BRINDLE GUN performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.80 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks except Ipswich until after 22 May 2015.

 

The greyhound MR. HOPPINS performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.58 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks except Ipswich until after 22 May 2015 and up to 431m only.

 

The greyhound MURBAH GOLD performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.05 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

The greyhound NO GUN performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.62 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks except Ipswich until after 11 May 2015.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

WESTMEAD LASS was best to begin.  Shortly after the start MY EYES ONLY shifted in checking SCORCHING CORNER.  Through the 1st turn STRAYA, SCORCHING CORNER, MY EYES ONLY, PURELY PENNY and SPIRAL SYSTEM all raced tight and unbalanced and SCORCHING CORNER and MY EYES ONLY lost ground as a result.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 431m

ULTIMATE BOMBER was best to begin.  Shortly after the start SMOOTH SHILOW, HAZY GAZE and DON’T TELL were tightened between PROVIDENCE and THAT’S INSANE.  Through the 1st turn PROVIDENCE shifted in tightening DON’T TELL, SMOOTH SHILOW and BOLD AS BRASH.  Entering the back straight HAZY GAZE improved onto the heels of PROVIDENCE and both greyhounds were checked.  Leaving the back straight THAT’S INSANE and ULTIMATE BOMBER came together with ULTIMATE BOMBER losing ground.  BETTY’S GEM and SMOOTH SHILOW raced tight entering the home straight.  Shortly after, DON’T TELL and ULTIMATE BOMBER came together.

 

Race 3 – Novice 431m

GOLD PLATED was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn SPRITELY LIL shifted in checking DOLLAR GIRL and GOD ONLY KNOWS.  PROTO PENNY, WALK FREE, BURMA SPECIAL and BURWANA which were following were all severely inconvenienced and BURMA SPECIAL lost significant ground.  As a result GOLD PLATED was forced to race wide passing the catching pen.  GOLD PLATED raced wide through the back straight.  PROTO PENNY raced wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound BURMA SPECIAL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – Maiden Final 431m

IMA COUNTRY BOY was best to begin with HOT LIKE SUNSET and AVOID DAMAGE slow.  Through the 1st turn CHARMING GIRL, MAYWYNS PING and PREMIER BEAR came together.  As a result PREMIER BEAR was forced out onto the running of TUKULA.  Entering the back straight HOT LIKE SUNSET was tightened between AVOID DAMAGE and CHARMING GIRL.  All greyhounds were checked.

 

Due to a malfunction with the automatic timer this race was hand timed.

 

The greyhound CHARMING GIRL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards spoke to the trainer of this greyhound Ms. H. Wendt in regards to the greyhound’s poor performance.  Ms. Wendt stated that the greyhound doesn’t usually perform well when it’s not afforded a clear run in the race, as was the case in this event. Stewards noted Ms. Wendt’s comments.

 

The greyhound HOT LIKE SUNSET was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 431m

BONNIE’S DREAM and BLUE SIZE were slowly away.  Through the 1st turn BONNIE’S DREAM shifted out off the heels of FREDDIE FINCH and onto the running of BLUE SIZE, causing BLUE SIZE to lose ground.  Shortly after, BIKILA shifted in checking SHAKIN SHAKIRA and BONNIE’S DREAM.  Through the top turn BIKILA improved onto the heels of FREDDIE FINCH and became unbalanced.

 

The greyhound SHAKIN SHAKIRA was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 6 – 3/4th Grade 431m

ROSDUE BOOMER was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn YOUR DEAL, DASHING CANUTE and ROCKY BE GOOD raced tight.  ROSDUE BOOMER which was following lost ground and inconvenienced EARNED TALKING and WINNING NOVA.  WINNING NOVA was wide through the back straight.  Through the top turn ROCKY BE GOOD and SUNNY JIM raced tight.  Shortly after, EARNING TALKING improved onto the heels of VICKI ROSE HI and became unbalanced.  SUNNY JIM, ROSDUE BOOMER and ROCKY BE GOOD bumped entering the home straight.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Final 520m

BLUE SCORPION was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start AGRO’S GUN shifted out checking BLUE SCORPION, while CORNELIA JESS shifted in tightening POCAHONTAS.  Through the 1st turn BLUE SCORPION and AGRO’S GUN came together.  Entering the back straight DAINTY LASS shifted out forcing SKETCHY AIMY wide.

 

The greyhound POCAHONTAS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards questioned the trainer’s representative Mr. J. Chardon in regards to the greyhound’s weakening over the concluding stages of the event.  Mr. Chardon could not offer any tangible explanation for the greyhound’s below market expectation performance, other than its inability to lead the race early.  Stewards advised that the greyhound’s future performances would be monitored.

 

Race 8 – 4/5th Grade 520m

SPECIAL GIRL was best to begin with BIRTHDAY BASH slowly away.  WHITE MARLIN and LARA SAINT raced tight entering the home straight.

 

The greyhound BIRTHDAY BASH was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards questioned trainer Mrs. C. Bourke in regards to the greyhound’s below market expectation performance.  Mrs. Bourke made reference to the fact that the greyhound made a slow start to the event, which is common for this greyhound, and that the market was not a true reflection of the greyhound’s expected performance. Stewards noted Mrs. Bourke’s explanation and advised that future performances would be monitored.

 

The greyhound IPSWICH MELODY was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Steward’s advised trainer Mr. L. Waldon that the greyhound’s future performances over this distance would be closely monitored.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m

YALINGA was best to begin.  Shortly after the start ARGO and KITTY’S DREAM were tightened between GATE SLINGER and SWEET AS BETH which was shifting in.  KITTY’S DREAM, ARGO and GATE SLINGER all became unbalanced and lost ground.  Continuing through the 1st turn SWEET AS BETH improved onto the hindquarters of MAGIC KITCHEN and both greyhounds checked.  SWEET AS BETH then proceeded to shift in checking MR. TRANSPORTER and as a result MR. TRANSPORTER was forced to shift out onto the running of KITTY’S DREAM and CANDY CRUSH.  GATE SLINGER was wide through the back straight.  Approaching the top turn KITTY’S DREAM and ARGO came together with KITTY’S DREAM losing ground.

 

The greyhound KITTY’S DREAM was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. A Stumer advised stewards that the greyhound was nominated to race this Friday, and would hence be closely assessed for any signs of injury before the appointed scratching deadline for this event.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

RYLI’S RANGA was best to begin.  TOURMALINE, JOIE ECLAT and BEAT THE BULLET raced tight and bumped entering the 1st turn.  JOIE ECLAT lost ground and as a result MY MATE LING and BELLA NARCISSUS were inconvenienced.
