The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

The greyhound WOODY’S RETURN performed a satisfactory weight trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.90.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

The start of this event was delayed as stewards held for an interstate venue. 

AVOID DAMAGE was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn YOWIE HUNTER and GUNNER were tight while GOOD GESURE and LATIN DANCE collided. LATIN DANCE was forced onto the running of CLASSY BAMQUIN, which in turn shifted out onto the running of YOWIE HUNTER and GUNNER.  YOWIE HUNTER became severely unbalanced and BIG RED DEVIL which was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the back straight ALMOST DODGY checked off the heels of LATIN DANCE.  YOWIE HUNTER was wide in the back straight.  Entering the top turn AVOID DAMAGE and ALMOST DODGY came together with CLASSY BAMQUIN which was following inconvenienced.  Through the top turn YOWIE HUNTER shifted out off the heels of ALMOST DODGY checking CLASSY BAMQUIN.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 431m

STRONG CURRENT was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start BOGIE ROCK and FULL BAMQUIN came together.  Through the 1st turn GALWAY THUNDER, BOGIE ROCK and FULL BAMQUIN bumped and FULL BAMQUIN was forced to shift out onto the running of CROSSER and these 2 greyhounds collided and became unbalanced.  Through the top turn SMART CHIC shifted out hampering GALWAY THUNDER.

 

Race 3 – Maiden 431m

MAGIC ESCAPE was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start MURBAH GOLD and YOU THERE JOAN came together.  Through the 1st turn ROSABEL and NO GUN collided.  Entering the back straight YOU THERE JOAN and NO GUN raced tight and became unbalanced with ROSABEL which was following severely inconvenienced.  Through the top turn NO GUN shifted out colliding with ROSABEL, forcing this greyhound wide through the turn.  Racing down the home straight ROSABEL shifted out and marred the running of NO GUN.

 

The greyhound ROSABEL was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind leg and was stood down for a period of 14 days.  Stewards advised trainer’s representative Mr. G. Palmer that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

DAYSEAS COSMO was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn general tightening resulted in interference to all runners excluding DAYSEAS COSMO and MISS OLYMPIA.  QUEENSRYCHE, THAT’S INSANE, HELL’S ENEMY and BURMA SPECIAL all lost ground as a result.  Through the catching pen HELL’S ENEMY shifted in checking NURSEY WARD.  Racing through the top turn HELL’S ENEMY improved onto the heels of NURSEY WARD and both greyhounds became unbalanced.  Continuing through the turn BURMA SPECIAL improved onto the heels of HELL’S ENEMY and was checked.

 

The greyhound HOT LIKE SUNSET was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade Heat 1 431m

BARBARINO’S BOY was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn SILVER STICKA and BONGANI collided.  As a result SILVER STICKA lost ground and shifted onto the running of MAGIC IT UP, which was severely inconvenienced and CLASSY BARCY which was racing to its outside, was also hampered.  Through the top turn IPSWICH MELODY improved onto the heels of STANDOUT severely checking this greyhound and causing it to lose significant ground.  Through the home straight SILVER STICKA improved onto the heels of BONGANI and was hampered.  Continuing through the home straight MR. TRANSPORTER shifted in hampered BARBARINO’S BOY.

 

The greyhound STANDOUT was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 520m

LARA SAINT was best to begin with GLASS and SHAYLA ROSE slow.  Through the top turn BEAT THE BULLET and SHAYLA ROSE collided.  Entering the home straight GOT A BROTHER and RHYTHMIC BLUES bumped.

 

The greyhound GLASS was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side hip support and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade Final 431m

YALINGA was best to begin.  Through the 1st turn LONE GUN, WALLY’S WAY and STRONG STANLEY raced tight and unbalanced.  WALLY’S WAY was forced to shift out onto the running of ARE ATE and OUT WEST.  Entering the back straight WALLY’S WAY shifted out off the heels of STRONG STANLEY.  Approaching the top turn LONE GUN was tightened as YALINGA improved to its outside.  Shortly after, OUT WEST shifted in tightening STRONG STANLEY which lost ground.

 

Race 8 – 5th Grade Heat 2 431m

RYLEE’S ROOKIE was best to begin with KILTY JACK slow.  Through the 1st turn SPANKY’S LEGEND was tightened between FENRIR and RYLEE’S ROOKIE, both of which shifted.  Passing the catching pen BIG YELLOW TAXI and FENRIR collided resulting in BIG YELLOW TAXI falling and taking no further competitive part in the event.  BLOO FRANKIE, RAZEN TOAST and RYLEE’S ROOKIE which were following were inconvenienced as BIG YELLOW TAXI fell.  MISS MERINO was checked as RYLEE’S ROOKIE lost ground in this incident.  RYLEE’S ROOKIE and RAZEN TOAST raced tight entering the home straight.

 

The greyhound BIG YELLOW TAXI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade Heat 3 431m

FARMER’S GOLD was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn GREYSYND FANTASY and DENZANO OSTI collided.  Shortly after, MAGICAL GIRL, ALL RIVERS RUN, DENZANO OSTI and GREYSYND FANTASY raced tight and unbalanced.  Approaching the top turn JEBRYNAH ALLEY shifted tightened DENZANO OSTI.  Through the top turn FARMER’S GOLD and FREDRIK raced tight and unbalanced.  Down the home straight MAGICAL GIRL shifted out colliding with FARMER’S GOLD and both greyhounds became unbalanced.  Shortly after, FARMER’S GOLD shifted in checking MAGICAL GIRL.

 

The greyhound MAGICAL GIRL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade Heat 4 431m

RENOUF’S MAGIC and SHEZA PINT SIZE were best to begin.  Shortly after the start MY MATE LING improved onto the heels of PROVIDENCE and was checked.  Through the 1st turn JOIE ECLAT and LITTLE SIZZLER bumped.  Approaching the top turn LITTLE SIZZLER was tightened between JOIE ECLAT and ASTOUND YA.  LITTLE SIZZLER and ASTOUND YA lost ground as a result and MY MATE LING which was following was inconvenienced.
