VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

Trainer Ms. D. Hannon was charged under GAR 86 (p) for failing to follow the orders of the starter while boxing the greyhound JOIE ECLAT in race 8, and was fined the sum of $100.

 

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

LOOKING AT ME was best to begin.  Shortly after the start LOOKING AT ME shifted out checking CONRAD and OLYMPUS which was following was hampered.  Entering the back straight IN JOCK’S SHADOW and LATIN DANCE came together.  Shortly after, LATIN DANCE and CONRAD collided.  Through the back straight BETTER YET shifted out off the heels of IN JOCK’S SHADOW.  GALWAY THUNDER and LOOKING AT ME were wide through the back straight.  Approaching the top turn LATIN DANCE was hampered as BETTER YET shifted out.  Through the top turn BETTER YET improved onto the heels of IN JOCK’S SHADOW and both greyhounds became unbalanced.  LOOKING AT ME which was racing to the outside was also inconvenienced.  BETTER YET and GALWAY THUNDER collided entering the home straight.  Through the home straight LOOKING AT ME was wide.  Over the concluding stages OLYMPUS shifted out checking IN JOCK’S SHADOW, forcing this greyhound onto the running of GALWAY THUNDER.

 

The greyhound GALWAY THUNDER was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off fore webbing and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 431m

NAT MAN was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start HOBO JANE and SITELLA were tightened between NAN’S NIRO and BIG RED DEVIL, with both SITELLA and HOBO JANE losing ground.  Through the top turn SITELLA shifted out off the heels of HOBO JANE and raced extremely wide.  HOBO JANE was wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound SITELLA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards spoke to the trainer Ms. D. Hannon in relation to the greyhound’s poor performance.  Ms. Hannon made reference to the interference on the 1st turn to SITELLA and also did note that the greyhound had trialed successfully at the track, tending to the rail throughout the run.  Stewards noted that this was the greyhound’s first race start and advised that future performances would be closely monitored.

 

Stewards spoke to the trainer of GALWAY SUNSET Mr. K. Galloway in regards to the greyhound’s seemingly improved performance in this event.  Mr. Galloway explained that the greyhound performs at its best when it’s leading the field, and has often produced similar performances when trialing in reduced fields.

 

Race 3 – Novice 431m

PRINCESS TOUCH was best to begin.  Shortly after the start ACHTUNG and PEPPER PRINCESS collided.  Through the 1st turn RYLI’S DREAMER was tightened between SPRING CLOVER and PRINCESS TOUCH and lost ground.  Shortly after, KLOEIS PRIDE improved onto the hindquarters or PEPPER PRINCESS causing the greyhound to become unbalance and shift out onto the running of GLENOIT, which was hampered.  Passing the catching pen RYLI’S DREAMER was tightened between KLOEIS PRIDE and ACHTUNG and lost ground.  Through the top turn PEPPER PRINCESS shifted out of the heels of KLOEIS PRIDE and raced wide.  Entering the home straight PRINCESS TOUCH and KLOEIS PRIDE collided.  PEPPER PRINCESS was wide through the home straight.

 

The greyhound PEPPER PRINCESS was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards spoke to the trainer Ms. D. Simon in regards to the greyhound’s performance.  Ms. Simon made reference to the interference suffered early in the race and eluded to the fact that PEPPER PRINCESS tends to run wide through the top turn and home straight, as was displayed in this event.  Stewards accepted Ms. Simon’s comments.

 

Race 4 – 4/5th Grade Heat 1 431m

SO SWANKY was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start SO SWANKY and WHIRLY WAY were tightened between COSMIC CATCH and DAIZY DOLITTLE which shifted.  Shortly after, ULTIMATE STAR and PUB STAR bumped, as did DAIZY DOLITTLE and BARBARINO’S BOY.  Through the 1st turn WHIRLY WAY shifted in tightening COSMIC CATCH and shortly after DAIZY DOLITTLE and COSMIC CATCH collided.  Entering the top turn BARBARINO’S BOY shifted out off the heels of ULTIMATE STAR.  Through the top turn WHIRLY WAY improved onto the heels of PUB STAR and was checked.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 520m

Even start.  Shortly after the start CERVELO shifted in checking GIGGLING BEACH, while SPRING CHOICE tightened DAINTY LASS.  At the same time MOTORIN’ CIDER shifted out bumping with HOUINDEED.  Down the running on the 1st occasion CERVELO continued to shift in tightening BOO BOO CHILD.  Approaching the 1st turn FEMME JOLIE shifted out forcing CERVELO onto the running of SPRING CHOICE which became unbalanced and lost ground and DAINTY LASS and GIGGLING BEACH which were following were severely inconvenienced.  Through the top turn CERVELO and MOTORIN’ CIDER bumped.

 

The greyhound SPRING CHOICE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. J Bradley that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Final 431m

FENRIR was best to begin.  Shortly after the start FARMER’S GOLD and KILTY JACK came together.  Through the 1st turn SHEZA PINT SIZE, MR. TRANSPORTER and ALL RIVERS RUN raced tight and unbalanced.  Shortly after, BONGANI shifted in hampering FARMER’S GOLD.  At the same time MR. TRANSPORTER shifted in checking SHEZA PINT SIZE which lost ground and KILTY JACK which was following was inconvenienced.  Entering the back straight BONGANI improved onto the heels of MR. TRANSPORTER and became unbalanced.  Entering the home straight KILTY JACK shifted out and forced SHEZA PINT SIZE to race wide.

 

The greyhound SHEZA PINT SIZE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound BONGANI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 7 – 4/5th Grade Heat 2 431m

GREYSYND FANTASY and HABANA FLEX were slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn LOVE LETTERS and SHOOP SHOOP SONG bumped.  Shortly after, PIP PIP HOORAY shifted out tightening BLUE SIZE and SONIC REDUCER.  Approaching the back straight GREYSYND FANTASY checked HABANA FLEX which was forced to shift onto the running of BLUE SIZE.  Passing the catching pen SONIC REDUCER and GREYSYND FANTASY came together with GREYSYND FANTASY losing significant ground as a result and taking no further competitive part in the event.  Through the top turn SHOOP SHOOP SONG shifted out off the heels of LOVE LETTERS. Entering the home straight PIP PIP HOORAY shifted out off the heels of KING’S GEM.

 

The greyhound GREYSYND FANTASY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side hock and was humanely euthanised.

 

Race 8 – 4/5th Grade Heat 3 431m

IT’S MY TIME was best to begin with SILVER STICKA slow.  Through the 1st turn SWEET AS BETH, JOIE ECLAT and ELITE DESSA raced tight and unbalanced.  Racing through the back straight SILVER STICKA appeared to lose ground when in clear running.

 

The greyhound SILVER STICKA was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side wrist and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Trainer Ms. D. Hannon was charged under GAR 86 (p) for failing to follow the orders of the starter while boxing the greyhound JOIE ECLAT in this event, and was fined the sum of $100.

 

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade Heat 4 431m

SURE YOU CAN and STRONG STANLEY were best to begin with BLOO FRANKIE slow.  Shortly after the start MISS OLYMPIA and SPRITELY LIL came together.  Through the 1st turn KING’S SON shifted in tightening MISS OLYMPIA and BLOO FRANKIE.  Entering the top turn MISS OLYMPIA and STRONG STANLEY came together and STRONG STANLEY lost ground.  Through the top turn SPRITELY LIL shifted out off the heels of STRONG STANLEY.  Through the home straight SURE YOU CAN shifted out forcing SNOWBALL BOB in off its heels.

 

Race 10 – 4/5th Grade Heat 5 431m

Even start.  Through the 1st turn BIG YELLOW TAXI, LITTLE SIZZLER and MISS FELIX were tightened between SECRET STASH and BOGIE TOM, with all greyhounds becoming unbalanced.  Approaching the top turn PREMIER PLAYER was tightened as DOLLY BLOO shifted in.  Entering the home straight PREMIER PLAYER shifted out off the heels of DOLLY BLOO.  Over the concluding stages DOLLY BLOO and BIG YELLOW TAXI raced tight.

STEWARD IN CHARGE
