GENERAL

 

The greyhound SPRING ENTRY performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.18.

 

The greyhound LIL’ BIT SPARKY performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 2 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.80.

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

MAYWYN MACEY, SOMERSET SUPREME and MAGICAL YESSAM were all best to begin.  FOXY JOKER was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start DASHING CHARGER shifted in bumping GALWAY REAL DEAL, resulting in FOXY JOKER being inconvenienced.  Entering the back straight SOMERSET SUPREME was tightened between MAYWYN MACEY and MAGICAL YESSAM both of which shifted.  A short distance later MAYWYN MACEY shifted out making heavy contact with MAGICAL YESSAM forcing this greyhound wider on the track.  Entering the turn out of the back straight FOXY JOKER shifted in checking UNDERMINER causing this greyhound to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  Entering the top turn out of the back straight MAGICAL YESSAM checked off the heels of DASHING CHARGER.

 

The greyhound UNDERMINER was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound GALWAY REAL DEAL was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. K Galloway that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks.

 

The greyhound FOXY JOKER was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side shoulder and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 2 – Maiden 431m

ANNIE ELLEN was best to begin.  CONRAD was slow to begin.  Entering the back straight OUR GOLD shifted out making contact with YOU THERE JOAN, causing that greyhound to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  In the back straight JOKE’S ON ME checked off the heels of ANNIE ELLEN causing that greyhound to lose considerable ground.  Leaving the back straight into the top turn CONRAD checked off the heels of JOKE’S ON ME.

 

The greyhound YOU THERE JOAN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound ANNIE ELLEN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. R Essex that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance, must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks prior to nominating.

 

Race 3 – Novice 431m

BROOKVALE GLORY, WENEREX and CASSIOPEIA were all best to begin.  SPRING QUAYS and MY EYES ONLY were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start ELL’S ALL CLASS was tightened for room between WENEREX and BROOKVALE GLORY, resulting in JAY BAY QUEEN which was following being inconvenienced.  In the back straight JAY BAY QUEEN checked off the heels of ELL’S ALL CLASS.  Entering the top turn JAY BAY QUEEN checked off the heels of BROOKVALE GLORY resulting in JAY BAY QUEEN racing wider on the track.  JAY BAY QUEEN and MY EYES ONLY raced wide throughout the home straight.

 

The greyhound JAY BAY QUEEN was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

FAMOUS FOR FUN was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start IMA COUNTY BOY shifted in tightening SMASH TO FEAR in onto FARMOR MAYHEM, onto BAILEY’S SPIRIT and COOGAN’S REGRET.  As a result BAILEY’S SPIRIT and COOGAN’S REGRET both lost ground.  In the back straight IMA COUNTRY BOY checked off the heels of SMASH TO FEAR, resulting in DAZE FLYBY being inconvenienced.  COOGAN’S REGRET raced wide throughout the home straight.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade Heat 1 431m

BANJO BABE and JUST LIKE TINA were best to begin.  REV SOME MORE was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start BANJO BABE shifted in tightening BOGIE TOM onto HABANA FLEX, FENRIR and PREMIER BEAR.  These greyhound all suffered interference and lost some ground.  Entering the back straight JUST LIKE TINA checked off the heels of SPRING MILLIE.  In the back straight PREMIER BEAR checked off the heels of SPRING MILLIE.  Entering the top turn PREMIER BEAR again checked off the heels of SPRING MILLIE.

 

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 520m

ARGO began awkwardly.  Rounding the 1st turn DAINTY LASS made heavy contact with TOUCH OF CAJUN.  Through the top turn ARGO checked off the heels of GIGGLING BEACH forced ARGO to lose some ground.  VIRUNGA raced wide throughout the home straight.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Final 431m

GATE SLINGER was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start LONESOME DUK and LITTLE SIZZLER bumped.  Turning into the back straight MR.TRANSPORTER checked off the heels of GATE SLINGER resulting in MR. TRANSPORTER losing considerable ground.  In the back straight LITTLE SIZZLER checked off the heels of LONESOME DUK.  A short distance later LONESOME DUK checked off the heels of SKYE BRIDGE.  LONESOME DUK raced wide throughout the home straight.

 

The greyhound LONESOME DUK was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind toe and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 8 – 4/5th Grade Heat 2 431m

FARMOR EYE AM was best to begin.  JESS NIRO was slow to begin.  Entering the back straight LONE GUN and TUKULA bumped.

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade Heat 3 431m

KING’S GEM was best to begin.  SPRING COLARADO and SHE’S A NIRO were both slow to begin.  Entering the back straight UP THE ATTITUDE shifted out bumping THAT’S INSANE out onto PRATER’S PROBLEM causing both greyhounds to lose some ground.  In the back straight SPRING COLARADO checked off the heels of THAT’S INSANE.  Entering the top turn SPRING CLOVER checked off the heels of PRATER’S PROBLEM.  THAT’S INSANE who was following was also inconvenienced.  Entering the home straight UP THE ATTITUDE raced wide.

 

Race 10 – 4/5th Grade Heat 4 431m

RYLEE’S RING IN, YA ACE YA and LOVE LETTERS were best to begin.  In the back straight LOVE LETTERS checked off the heels of RYLEE’S RING IN.  Entering the top turn LOVE LETTERS checked off the heels of SPRING BLUESTONE and lost ground.  Leaving the turn into the home straight KILTY JACK shifted out to avoid the heels of DIAMOND OSPREY forcing BLOO FRANKIE and SPRING BLUESTONE wider on the track.  BLOO FRANKIE and RYLEE’S RING IN raced wide throughout the home straight.
