GENERAL

 

The greyhound SPRING BIG IRON performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.68.

 

The greyhound SPRING SHANGHAI performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.56.

 

The greyhound FEAR THE SURF performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.98 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.

 

Race 1 – Maiden Heat 1 431m

FABULOUS WALL, SNUBBING UNIT and ASTON UGO were best to begin.  YOUR ON ‘EM was slow away.  Approaching the turn into the back straight MAJOR GENERAL shifted out and collided with GUN LEGACY causing GUN LEGACY to be checked and race wide.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight FABULOUS WALL and ASTON UGO collided, resulting in ASTON UGO being checked and losing considerable ground.  GUN LEGACY raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 2 – Maiden Heat 2 431m

HYPNOTIZED and SPLIT SYSTEM were best to begin.  Shortly after the start AVOID DAMAGE and LUCY MOO came together.  Shortly afterwards EAT LESS CAKE and DEAD END collided.  Entering the back straight HAPPY GEORGE shifted out and checked LUCY MOO causing it to race wide.  HAPPY GEORGE raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 3 – Maiden Final 431m

SHELIA DOOLEY, SWEET MANTRA and MACADAM were best to begin.  Shortly after the start SPRING ESTELLE, ROCKING RONNY and SISTA TASHA all came together resulting in SISTA TASHA being checked.  Entering the back straight SPRING ESTELLE clipped the heels of ROCKING RONNY resulting in being checked and as a consequence checked SISTA TASHA, causing both greyhounds to lose considerable ground.  BAGO BAGO raced wide in the back straight.

 

Race 4 – Novice 431m

VELOCITY AMY, RYLI’S RAMBO and QUEEN LOCH BRAE were best to begin.    KAR BLU was slow out.  Shortly after the start QUEEN LOCH BRAE and BOLD AS BRASH came together, resulting in BOLD AS BRASH losing minimal ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight KAR BLU and PURELY PENNY came together, resulting in PURELY PENNY losing considerable ground.

 

The greyhound BOLD AS BRASH was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side dew claw and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 5 – 5th Grade 431m

Even start with SPRITELY CHARM slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight INSIDE PASS and FEARLESS DUK came together and as a consequence DIANNE’S PEARL was checked off the heels of FEARLESS DUK and lost some ground.  In the back straight DIANNE’S PEARL contacted the heels of RYLI’S RANGA and lost some ground.  Leaving the back straight SPRITELY CHARM contacted the heels of SPRING TWIG and lost some ground.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

FASHION ADVICE, SPRING MILLIE and PASSIVE PROTEST were best to begin.  Shortly after the start JANE’S JEZABEL and COLLIDER GIRL bumped, resulting in COLLIDER GIRL losing some ground.  Leaving the back straight COLLIDER GIRL and PASSIVE PROTEST bumped, resulting in COLLIDER GIRL losing some ground.

 

The greyhound FASHION ADVICE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Ms. D Hannon explained that FASHION ADVICE was only having its 2nd start over the 520m in this campaign and was of the view that FASHION ADVICE may not have run the distance out having a clear lead rounding the home turn FASHION ADVICE was moving into 4th place.  Ms. Hannon stated that FASHION ADVICE would continue to compete over the 520m as she is of the view that the greyhound will improve with racing.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade Heat 2 520m

TIME IS MONEY and HUDSONS BREAK came together shortly after the start.  GIGGLING BEACH and YALINA were both best to begin.  HUDSONS BREAK contacted the heels of CYCLONE CLIFFORD approaching the turn out of the front straight resulting in HUDSONS BREAK racing wide and losing considerable ground.  HUDSONS BREAK raced wide rounding the home turn and into the front straight.

 

The greyhound HUDSONS BREAK was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. C Campbell explained that HUDSONS BREAK has shown a tendency to want to run off in races and whilst he acknowledge that the greyhound received a check on the 1st turn he was still of the view that HUDSONS BREAK showed a tendency to race off the track.  He further stated that he may restrict his racing to the straight at Capalaba.  Mr. Campbell’s comments were noted and the performances of HUDSONS BREAK would be closely monitored in the future.

 

Race 8 – 3/4th Grade 431m

HOPPING HOUDINI was best to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ROCKY BE GOOD shifted out and bumped FENRIR and as a consequence KATE’S CRASH was checked and lost some ground.

 

Race 9 – 4/5th Grade Final 520m

Even start.  DON’T DOUBT ME was tightened between GATE SLINGER and WHIRLY WAY shortly after the start and lost some ground.  Leaving the turn into the back straight WHIRLY WAY contacted the heels of MAGIC KITCHEN.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

Even start with FAR FROM FEAR slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight GET INVOLVED shifted in and tightened the racing room of HABANA FLEX and NOT LIKE TOMMY, resulting in both greyhounds being checked.  Shortly after the start DOLLY BLOO was tightened between QUE SERA and IPSWICH MELODY.  Rounding the turn into the back straight GET INVOLVED bumped with QUE SERA.  In the front straight FAR FROM FEAR and QUE SERA bumped.
