The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.
Race 1 SECRET SHAY ANNA
Race 2 LAUGHING DEVIL Injured in running, off side hip, 7 days
The greyhound PRATER’S PROBLEM performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 520m in a time of 31.12 and is now cleared to nominate all tracks.
The greyhound MADDY’S RASCAL performed a satisfactory 6 month trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.90.
The greyhound JULIE SIZE performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 1 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.55.
The greyhound LEADFOOT JODY performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.16.
The greyhound ITALIAN MAGIC performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.36.
CYNO STEIN and MCCAW MCCAW were marginally slow to begin. Shortly after the start BETTY’S GEM and CYNO STEIN came together. Through the 1st turn MCCAW MCCAW, HAZY GAZE, SECRET SHAY ANNA, CYNO STEIN and BETTY’S GEM were tight and unbalanced and SECRET SHAY ANNA and BETTY’S GEM lost ground.
The greyhound SECRET SHAY ANNA was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
SILK SCEPTRE and PENNYLESS were best to begin. Shortly after the start LAUGHING DEVIL and MYSTIC HAWKE collided. Through the 1st turn SILK SCEPTRE and MARIO RACER came together. Passing the catching pen DEAD END checked off heels. Approaching the top turn DEAD END shifted in tightening LAUGHING DEVIL which lost ground.
The
greyhound LAUGHING DEVIL was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the
off side hip and was stood down for a period of 7 days.
Race 3 – Maiden Final 431m
CYNO GENERAL was slow to begin. Through the 1st turn PEPE LEPEW, SWEET DIMPLE and ROCKING RONNY were checked and lost ground. RYAN ROAD was wide in the back straight. RYAN ROAD and ROCKING RONNY were wide in the home straight.
Race 4 – Novice 431m
DOOHAN TIME and TWO UP were best to begin with GOTTA GET UP slow. Through the 1st turn OIDOS EXTRANOS, SPRING SHANGHAI and BIG BOY BETRO collided with BIG BOY BETRO becoming severely unbalanced. Passing the catching pen GALLANTRY checked off the heels of SPRING SHANGHAI and both greyhounds were inconvenienced with GALLANTRY losing ground and GOTTA GET UP which was following hampered as a result. In the turn into the home straight BIG BOY BETRO collided with GALLANTRY.
Trainer of BIG BOY BETRO Mr. P Shaxson was advised that the greyhound’s performance was bordering on unsatisfactory. Mr. Shaxson advised stewards that he would be looking to nominate the greyhound for Tweed Heads and Capalaba starts in the near future and would endeavour to trial the greyhound further at Ipswich before nominating for an event. Stewards noted Mr. Shaxon’s comments
Race 5 – 5th
Grade Heat 1 520m
ALPHA THESEUS, HER FAULT and CAP GUN were slow to begin. Entering the 1st turn RATATAT was tightened and lost ground hampering HER FAULT as a result. ALPHA THESEUS tended to race wide throughout the event. Through the 1st turn CAP GUN checked off heels.
Race 6 – 5th
Grade Heat 2 520m
ONE WON’T HURT and GLOBAL DEEJAY were best to begin. Shortly after the start GOLD ZIVA was tightened and lost ground while ONE WON’T HURT shifted out checking BLACK COBIA. Approaching the 1st turn BLACK COBIA, MISS GLENREAGH and GOLD ZIVA came together and became unbalanced. At the same time ONE WON’T HURT shifted and inconvenienced GLOBAL DEEJAY, RYLEE’S ROULETTE and HYPNOTIZED, all of which were forced wide through the turn and lost ground. Racing through the turn ONE WON’T HURT, RYLEE’S ROULETTE and HYPNOTIZED came together and became unbalanced. ANNIE ELLEN was wide in the back straight.
Race 7 – 4/5th Grade Final 520m
Even start. Shortly after the start HARLEY ARE, GATE SLINGER, MAYWYN’S YING and ISSY COOL came together and lost momentum. Approaching the 1st turn BRALYN AMY was tightened and lost ground inconveniencing ISSY COOL and forcing GATE SLINGER to race wide through the 1st turn. In the 1st turn MAYWYN’S YING and HARLEY ARE came together. Entering the top turn ISSY COOL improved onto the heels of MAYWYN’S YING and lost ground.
Race 8 – Best 8 431m
WAZZA KING was best to begin. Shortly after the start YADA YADA YADA, SERIOUS JOY and YOGI BLUE collided and became unbalanced. Through the 1st turn SUPER LUIGI and WAZZA KING came together.
Race 9 – 4th Grade 431m
Even start. Through the 1st turn ALEEAH JET shifted out causing tightening to FEARLESS DUK, DELTA QUEEN and WILDASH WARRIOR. SPANKY’S LEGEND which was following was inconvenienced. Entering the home straight SPANKY’S LEGEND and DELTA QUEEN collided.
Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m
SPRING TWIG and SAVE US were slow to begin. In the 1st turn PROTO PENNY and TASER SHOCK came together. Passing the catching pen SPRING TWIG checked off heels. IPSWICH MELODY was wide in the back straight. IPSWICH MELODY and PROTO PENNY were wide in the home straight.
