Stewards Trial 1 – 431m

The greyhound STARGATE SYSTEM performed a satisfactory 6 month trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.75.

 

RACE REPORTS

 

1.

PHANTOM HOUDINI and SLICE OF CAKE began well while SPRING REMI and ALISSA’S ANGEL were marginally slow.  ALISSA’S ANGEL was checked shortly after the start.  In the front straight SPRING REMI checked off heels.  Entering the 1st turn ZAZU’S HEADACHE and PHANTOM HOUDINI were checked causing ORBIT THE SUN, SPRING REMI and ALISSA’S ANGEL to be severely inconvenienced and race wide through the 1st turn.  Leaving the 1st turn PHANTOM HOUDINI and ZAZU’S HEADACHE collided and ZAZU’S HEADACHE lost ground.  Entering the back straight SLICE OF CAKE was checked as VELOCITY ONYX improved to its outside.  In the top turn SLICE OF CAKE improved onto the heels of FRIENDZ causing both greyhounds to be severely checked and causing SLICK OF CAKE to fall and take no further competitive part in the event. 

 

Stewards questioned trainer of ORBIT THE SUN Mr. M. Emery in regards to the greyhound’s performance in light of the fact that the greyhound was backed significantly in the market.  Mr. Emery advised that the greyhound had trialled well on a number of occasions prior to this start and he was confident in its chances.  Mr. Emery stated that he supported the greyhound on this occasion and expects the ORBIT THE SUN to continue to improve, going forward.

 

The greyhound SLICE OF CAKE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound ZAZU’S HEADACHE underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was found to have suffered an injury to the near side wrist, and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

The greyhound FRIENDZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was found to have suffered an injury to the off side achilles, and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

SKY RACING NOVICE 431M

I’VE GOT CENTS began well.  In the 1st turn TOPAZ TAN, ADAM ROSE HI and MR. BELLISSIMO collided and were unbalanced.  Shortly after, TUBBY TURNER, SURFBOARD and LAZZA MANAZZA all collided and lost ground.  Leaving the 1st turn MR. BELLISSIMO checked off heels.  Entering the top turn TOPAZ TAN and SURFBOARD were tightened and lost ground.  In the top turn MR. BELLISSIMO was hampered.

CITY COUNTRY FOOD SERVICE NOVICE 520M

JESS ROSE HI was best to begin while ALFONSO and CHIPPIE ROSE HI were slow.  Approaching the 1st turn THUNDER OF FIRE was hampered.  CHIPPIE ROSE HI and BITTA BLUE were wide in the 1st turn.  Entering the top turn ALFONSO was tightened and momentarily hampered.

BELVEDERE BABE and COMANECI were best to begin while FARAHMAC was slow. In the first turn NOTHING ELSE, LIL’ BIT SPARKY, BELVEDERE BABE and FARAHMAC were checked and lost ground. Leaving the back straight BELVEDERE BABE checked off heels. Approaching the top turn NOTHING ELSE was checked and lost ground

 

The greyhound NOTHING ELSE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Trainer Mr. D. Russell was reprimanded for his conduct in the kennel area following the veterinary examination of this greyhound.

BLAZE ROSE HI and AZTEC FLASH were slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn ARE YOU THERE was tightened and shifted out, causing this greyhound to lose ground and race wide through the 1st turn.  In the 1st turn BLAZE ROSE HI and BIG DIPPA collided.  Entering the home straight BIG DIPPA and SHAKEY START collided and were unbalanced.

TREMBATH TYRE REPAIRS 4/5th GRADE 520M

DISCO DOLLY, MAURICE MINOR and SIRIUS STAR were slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn BEC’S DIAMOND was tightened and lost ground.  MAURICE MINOR that was following was hampered and forced to race wide through the 1st turn.  Leaving the 1st turn MISS THICKSHAKE checked off heels.  Entering the top turn MISS THICKSHAKE, DISCO DOLLY and BEC’S DIAMOND were all checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound MISS THICKSHAKE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side hip and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

O’REILLY PET FOOD 5th GRADE FINAL 520M

Even start.  LIGHTNING WHITE and HARBOUR DRIVE collided at the start.  Shortly after the start SIZEABLE was hampered.  In the 1st turn COSMIC DENLYN was tightened and forced to shift out. As a result GADSBY’S ROAD and LIGHTNING WHITE were also inconvenienced.  SKY BOND was wide in the 1st turn.

MINSTREL MAN was best to begin while CAPTAIN’S KNOCK was slow.  In the 1st turn PENTADOG and ROCKY BE GOOD collided.  MAYWYN PETTYCASH was hampered in the 1st turn.  In the back straight CAPTAIN’S KNOCK checked off heels and lost ground.

 

The greyhound CAPTAIN’S KNOCK underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Even start.  In the 1st turn general tightening resulting in interference to all runners excluding ZAFONIC FORCE with SOFT SAND and INVERGARRY LADY losing significant ground and ICONIC BEACH losing some ground.

 

The greyhound ICONIC BEACH underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was found to have suffered an injury to the near side hip, and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON 5th GRADE 431M

SHEZA RULER and PAN YOKO began well while HOT was slow.  ME HAPPY, BANG ON TARGET and WILDASH PEBBLES came together in the 1st turn.  Entering the back straight KAAN PAKMAK shifted out causing WILDASH PEBBLEES, PAN YOKO and ME HAPPY to be severely inconvenienced and lose ground.  Shortly after, WILDASH PEBBLES and PAN YOKO collided and lost further ground.

 

The greyhound WILDASH PEBBLES underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound PAN YOKO underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side hip and was stood down for a period of 14 days.
