Approaching the top turn WALLABY JACK shifted out checking the running of IGNORE THE NOISE and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Soon after FEAR ANDY and ONE FOOT BEHIND came together heavily. ONE FOOT BEHIND lost ground as a result.

Race 3 – Novice 380m

BOOTYDO and MIDNIGHT EDITION both began well. BRIGHT DEBREE dwelt at the start. In the back straight WHERE’S BLOCKER improved onto the heels of BOOTYDO. Both greyhounds were checked and lost ground. Soon after RAZOR ROSE shifted in checking the running of BLUEFIRE CHALICE which lost ground and shifted in onto the running of WHERE’S BLOCKER and BOOTYDO which were also checked and lost ground. Approaching the top turn BRIGHT DEBREE was severely checked when tightened for running between HI HOMBRE and BLUEFIRE CHALICE. As a result of this incident BRIGHT DEBREE fell and took no further competitive part in the event.

RAZOR ROSE was wide at the home turn.

The greyhound BRIGHT DEBREE was vetted and no abnormalities were revealed.

Following the running of this event Stewards upgraded the track rating from Slow to Good.

Race 4 – 0 – 3 Wins 498m

BELIMBA HUSTLER and MISS DENMARK both began well. SCOTTISH CLAN dwelt at the start.

Soon after the start BEACH FRONT, SCOTTISH CLAN and SOMETHING BAD were all inconvenienced due to general tightening in running. Entering the catching pen SCORPIO JAY shifted in severely checking the running of SCOTTISH CLAN and BELIMBA HUSTLER which both lost ground. Leaving the catching pen SCORPIO JAY which was continuing to shift in took BEACH FRONT in onto the running of LAID BACK LAD which was checked severely losing significant ground. BEACH FRONT was also checked in this incident. Approaching the top turn SCORPIO JAY improved onto the heels of MISS DENMARK. Both greyhounds were checked. As a result MISS DENMARK shifted out taking SCORPIO JAY out across the heels of SOMETHING BAD. MISS DENMARK and SORPIO JAY both lost ground in this incident.

Following the running of this event Stewards questioned Trainer Mr. H Hovi in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the greyhound BELIMBA HUSTLER.  Mr Hovi advised Stewards that, although he was surprised by tonight’s win, he was of the opinion that interference suffered by most of the favoured runners had proven to be a major factor in the outcome of the race. Mr. Hovi further advised that he had not supported BELIMBA HUSTLER in tonight’s event.

A swab sample was obtained from the greyhound BELIMBA HUSTLER.

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 380m

PACIFIC SPRING was best to begin. Approaching the top turn JACK SPRITE shifted in severely checking the running of  WILDASH MONTE and SLEEPY MIME both of which lost significant ground. JUSTA BEAUTY and BELLE SIND were also inconvenienced in this incident. Through the top turn BELLE SIND shifted in inconveniencing the running of SLEEPY MIME. Through the home turn WILDASH MONTE shifted out abruptly across the heels of SLEEPY MIME.

Race 6 – 4/5th Grade 498m

BLUE HOUDINI was slowly away. Through the catching pen ASA EXTREME and BIG BAD TOM both lost ground when tightened for running between MINGELA COSMO and LISTEN which was shifting in. POWER CELL and BLUE HOUDINI were both wide in the back straight. Approaching the top turn MINGELA COSMO lost significant ground when tightened for running between ASA EXTREME and MR. HOPPINS both of which were shifting ground. Approaching the home turn BLUE HOUDINI shifted in inconveniencing the running of POWER CELL.

Following the running of this event Stewards questioned Trainer Mr. J Schafer in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the greyhound LISTEN. Mr. Schafer advised Stewards that the only explanation he could offer was that, although he was surprised by tonight’s win, the greyhound may have derived improvement from its previous race start on Sunday June 7th at Cairns where a cable lure system is in operation. Mr. Schafer further advised that he had not supported LISTEN in tonight’s event.

A swab sample was obtained from the greyhound LISTEN.

Race 7 – 4th Grade 380m

This event was declared a “No Race” by Stewards acting under the provisions of GAR55 as, in the opinion of Stewards, the outcome of the event was affected due to several runners being substantially inconvenienced by the positioning of the lure when it became too close to the leading greyhound as the field raced into the top turn.

Race 8 – 3/4th Grade 380m

Approaching the top turn POISED TO POUNCE and MOO MOO came together. POISED TO POUNCE was momentarily unbalanced. General tightening in the run to the 1st turn resulted in severe interference to the running of GUNNADOO RACER, BLACK DENIM and BLUE STITCH which were all severely checked, and CUT OUT PASS which fell and took no further competitive part in the event. On straightening SCARLETT’S DEVIL shifted out inconveniencing the running of SUPERMAC.

The greyhound CUT OUT PASS was vetted and was found to have sustained an injury to its off side foreleg and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

Race 9 – 5th Grade 380m

KEWIN UP was best to begin. LONESOME MAX  dwelt at the start. Approaching the 1st turn VERY SPRITELY improved onto the heels of RHONDA’S TEARS  and as a result shifted out onto the running of  KEWIN UP and BRIGHT REBEL which both became unbalanced and raced wide. MAYWYN OODLES which was following shifted wide to avoid the heels of those runners and in doing so severely checked the running of LONESOME MAX which fell and took no further competitive part in the event. TOKALON HOTSHOT was also checked in this incident.

The greyhound LONESOME MAX was vetted and found to have sustained an injury to its off side dewclaw and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

Race 10 – 5th Grade 380m

Approaching the top turn DEBORAH ROSE shifted in checking the running of NANIERNA. As a result of this incident NANIERNA shifted out onto the running of WIND TRACKER, VAPOUR FLIGHT and GIVE ME TIME forcing those 3 greyhounds to race wider on the track and lose ground. VAPOUR FLIGHT continued to race wide for the remainder of the event.
