PETITE MAGIC was the best to begin. WALLEN JOE was marginally slow to begin. TONI’S QUITE and ZOEY’S FRIEND bumped shortly after the start resulting in TONI’S QUITE losing ground. TONI’S QUITE checked across the heels of MAYWYNS PING and lost ground after turning out of the back straight.
Even start. STRAIT ATE and ZINGALONG SHEEDS bumped shortly after the start resulting in ZINGALONG SHEEDS losing ground and STRAIT ATE becoming unbalanced. General tightening occurred in the back straight resulting in STRAIT ATE losing ground.
Race 3 – 0 – 3 Wins 498m
SCOTTISH CLAN was the best to begin. KNOCK THE TOP was slow to begin. LAID BACK LOAD and BUCKAROO SUE bumped heavily approaching the turn into the back straight. IGNORE THE NOISE was tightened for racing room between LIBERTY LEGS and MISS DENMARK on the turn into the back straight resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing ground causing interference to BUCKAROO SUE, SCORPIO JAY and KNOCK THE TOP. BUCKAROO SUE shifted out approaching the turn into the front straight bumping heavily into LAID BACK LAD.
Stewards stood BUCKAROO SUE down from racing for a period of 28 days and the completion of a satisfactory trial for marring under GAR 69.
MISS DENMARK and KNOCK THE TOP bumped entering the home straight.
Race 4 – 4/5th
Grade 380m
FROM THE TAP failed to leave the boxes missing the start by approximately 30m. WILLIAM MAC checked off WINSOME TOMMY and lost ground shortly after the start. HOTSHOT HERO was tightened for racing room and lost ground in the back straight.
Stewards spoke to trainer Norm Bradford in relation to the performance of FROM THE TAP at the start. Mr Bradford explained that he did not preview the greyhound and suggested that the different lure may have been a contributing factor to the dog’s performance. Mr Bradford further stated that he would consider not starting the greyhound again in Townsville. FROM THE TAP was inspected by the veterinarian who reported no abnormalities. Subsequently Stewards acting under the provisions of GAR 71 stood FROM THE TAP down from racing in Townsville until the completion of a satisfactory trial for an unsatisfactory performance.
Race 5 – 4th
Grade 380m
The lure failed entering the front straight resulting in a ‘NO RACE’ being declared and the race was abandoned.
Race 6 – 3/4th
Grade 380m
The lure failed in the back straight resulting in the leading greyhound catching the lure causing the majority of the field being disadvantaged.
Subsequently a ‘NO RACE’ was declared and the race abandoned.
Race 7 – 4/5th Grade 498m
Even start with LISTEN and ZIPPING CARLTON slow to begin. LISTEN and ZIPPING CARLTON bumped entering the turn into the back straight. LISTEN checked off LITTLE TRISH and lost ground in the back straight. MINGELA COSMO raced wide in the back straight. RAILROAD ROCKET checked off KNIGHTS TEMPLAR and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight. MINGELA COSMO raced wide in the home straight.
Race 8 – Best 8 380m
Even start with ALL BUT CENTRE slow to begin. GUNNADOO SECRET and MAYWYNS MARTY bumped shortly after the start resulting in both greyhounds losing ground. GUNNADOO DELTA checked off COOL SPRITE and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight. COOL SPRITE and YOGI BLUE bumped after turning out of the back straight resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and COOL SPRITE losing ground. GUNNADOO DELTA raced wide in the home straight.
Race 9 – 5th Grade 380m
Even start. SOMETHING BAD and BLACK PEPPERCORN bumped shortly after the start resulting in both greyhounds losing ground. SOMETHING BAD checked off CAPTAIN LONESTAR and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight.
Race 10 – 5th Grade 380m
BOLD DEBREE was the best to begin. PURE BEKIM and BELINDA HUSTLER were slow to begin. BELINDA HUSTLER checked off BRIGHT REBEL and lost ground in the back straight. PURE BEKIM raced wide in the home straight.
