VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS

 

The following greyhounds were sent to the veterinary surgeon upon completion of their event, but were not found to be suffering any injury.

GENERAL

 

Race 1 – Maiden 380m

KICKA TIN was a late scratching at kenneling due to a weight variation.  Trainer G. Thomson was fined $50 under the provisions of GAR 39 for presenting KICKA TIN to race with a weight variation outside the requirements of the Rules of Racing.

 

RHONDA’S DYNO was the best to begin.  OCTAVIAN checked off FEAR DEMI and lost ground shortly after the start.  ZAYRAH checked off the heels of RHONDA’S DYNO and became unbalanced prior to turning into the front straight resulting in ZAYRAH bumping LISTEN CAPTAIN heavily causing interference to FEAR DEMI.

 

Race 2 – Novice 380m

Even start.  TONI’S QUITE was tightened for racing room and lost ground shortly after the start.  TONI’S QUITE checked across the heels of ZIPPING BUBBA and bumped SOMETHING BAD on the turn into the front straight.  HI HOMBRE checked off MIDNIGHT EDITION and lost ground on the turn out of the front straight.  HI HOMBRE raced wide into the home straight.

 

Race 3 – 5th Grade 380m

Trainer Robert Thomson was fined $50:00 under the provisions of GAR 48 for failing to have a catcher present by the appointed time in the catching pen for JACK SPRITE.

 

WHERE’S BLOCKER was a late scratching at kenneling on veterinary advice.  COLLARINA was the best to begin.  VELOCITY KYZON was slow to begin.  VELOCITY KYZON checked across the heels of JACK SPRITE prior to turning into the front straight.  RHONDA’S TEARS shifted out across the heels of WIND TRACKER bumping NONE OF THEM and forcing that greyhound to race wide on the turn into the front straight.

 

Race 4 – 3/4th Grade 380m

BLUE STITCH was the best to begin.  IMPOSING SIND checked off BOOTYDO and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight.  PACIFIC SPRING tailed off to finish several lengths last.  A veterinary inspection of the greyhound revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer J. Barrow was advised that the greyhound’s performance was bordering on unsatisfactory and a warning was issued.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 498m

TROPICAL SANDS was a late scratching at 8.30pm due to the greyhound becoming seasonal.

 

Even start with SCOTTISH CLAN slow to begin.  ZINGALONG SHEEDS shifted in shortly after the start checking TOP END TORQUE in on to SCOTTISH CLAN.  POWER CELL and ODD SOX bumped entering the back straight.  POWER CELL raced wide in the back straight.

 

Race 6 – Townsville Futurity Final 498m

Even start with SUPERMAC, SCORPIO JAY and SNEAKIN’ ROUND marginally slow to begin.  General tightening occurred on the turn into the back straight resulting in BEACH FRONT falling and interference to SUPERMAC, SCORPIO JAY, DEBORAH ROSE and ELUSIVE DIVA.  SUPERMAC and SCORPIO JAY bumped heavily entering the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing considerable ground.

 

Race 7 – Townsville Derby Final 498m

Even start with VAPOUR FLIGHT and WILDASH DUKE marginally slow to begin.  ZIPPING CARLTON and BLUEFIRE CHALICE bumped on several occasions approaching the turn into the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing ground causing interference to VAPOUR FLIGHT and WILDASH DUKE.

 

Race 8 – Best 8 380m

Even start with ALL BUT CENTRE slow to begin.  REECY GOGOLAC was tightened for racing room and lost ground shortly after the start.  COOL SPRITE checked off the heels of REECY GOGOLAC and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight.  EUNICE LILLIAN raced very wide into the home straight.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 380m

KEWIN UP was the best to begin.  RHONDA JOAN checked off HASEGAWA and lost ground in the back straight.  VERY SPRITELY and SMILEY FEE FEE bumped on the turn out of the back straight resulting in RHONDA JOAN checking off SMILEY FEE FEE and become unbalanced causing interference to CAPTAIN LONESTART.  LONESOME MAX checked off the heels of VERY SPRITELY prior to turning into the front straight.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 380m

Even start with COOL REALITY and BELIMBA HUSTLER marginally slow to begin.  NANIERNA was tightened for racing room and lost ground in the back straight.

 

General

Stewards questioned trainer G. Thomson in relation to his conduct in the kennels during kenneling.  Owing to conflicting evidence received at the inquiry no further action was taken by stewards.
