SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Eagle Farm 28.05.22
 
Race 9- Trainer Mr Paul Snowden advised that SIGNORE FOX was found to have sustained a soft tissue injury behind its near fore knee following it competing in this event and as such the gelding would now be retired from racing.
 
GENERAL
 
Due to the abandonment of an interstate meeting, time changes for this meeting were made as follows-

Steward approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 5- TWO SMOKIN BARRELS- R Wiggins +1/2kg
Race 7- MY ODDETTE- R Wiggins +1/2kg

Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
CHANCE AT MIDNIGHT- Began awkwardly and was bumped shortly thereafter. Severely tightened for room and checked near the 1000m.
 
EUREKA BOOM- Laid in over the final 450m.
 
WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT- Bumped heavily on jumping before being tightened for room near the 1000m and was checked. For some distance after being checked, failed to respond to vigorous riding. Forced to alter course to secure clear running over the concluding stages. 
 
CELTIC EMPRESS- Slow to begin. Hung out for the majority.
 
DIAMOND LASS- Hung out throughout the event.
 
LIKE A KISS- Began awkwardly bumping another runner. Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start, became unbalanced and as a result shifted in causing tightening to other runners. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion on which the filly had bled, it would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and further, prior to resuming, would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards.  
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Years-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Following the running of race 1, the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
BALTRAY- Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race when the pace steadied leaving the 800m. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. When placed under pressure from the 300m, commenced to lay out and shifted wider on the track over the final 150m. As a result was unable to fully tested by its rider for the remainder of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Wheeler was advised that the gelding would be required to officially barrier trial prior to next racing.  
 
BOLD RANSOM- Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run and as a consequence was obliged to steady and shift outwards to secure clear running near the 250m.
 
CALIFORNIA ZIM ZIM- Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
GULF OF VENICE- Commenced to over race when the pace steadied leaving the 800m and in doing so shifted out bumping the hindquarter of SPILL THE SECRET.
 
RAMOKA- Slow to begin. Placed in restricted room and eased approaching the 1100m.
 
SPILL THE SECRET- Raced wide without cover throughout. Commenced to hang out and shifted wider on the track near the 800m resulting in the rider being unable to pressure the horse for the remainder of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal and abnormalities. Trainer M Lakey was advised that the gelding would be required to officially barrier trial prior to next racing.
 
STAR CHANCE- Placed in restricted room and eased approaching the 1100m.
 
Race 3: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Three-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
ANATINI- Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
DAY TIME MARTINIS- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NEWMARKET MISS- After being crossed near the 900m, commenced to over race for some distance.
 
REEANON- Held up in the early stages of the home straight, before shifting to the inside near the 250m to secure clear running.
 
RONLEE GAL- Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
TIGER LENY- Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 4: ANNUAL RACING MASS JUNE 5 BM65 Handicap 2040 metres
 
HEAD UP HIGH - Jockey N Rawiller reported that when the pace slackened from near the 1200m he would have liked to improve into the event at this point however unable to do so due to his position in running. Jockey Rawiller added that as a consequence he was forced to wait until a point near the 600m to improve into the event, however the gelding raced one paced from this point onwards. Jockey Rawiller added that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited in races with a greater tempo then that of today’s event.
 
AIOLOS- Jockey B Thompson reported that it was not his intention to lead, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he allowed the gelding to stride forward to assume the leading position near the 1200m.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY- Slow to begin.
 
QUEENMAKER- Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages. Steadied near the 1400m when awkwardly placed at the heels of AIOLOS. Jockey S Collett was unable to explain the performance of the mare which she advised travelled reasonably during the event however commenced to weaken from the 600m to finish a distant last. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a minor laceration inside its mouth, however no other abnormalities were detected. Connections advised following the event that it is the intention for the filly to be returned to Mr Cummings’ Sydney stables before a determination is made on its current preparation.  
 
Race 5: BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS Class 5 Handicap 1640 metres
 
THE CULLINAN- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAVVY LAD- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BECANDLENI- Slow to begin.
 
TWO SMOKIN BARRELS- Jockey R Wiggins reported the gelding was under pressure from the 500m, and in his opinion proved disappointing. Jockey Wiggins added that in his opinion the performance may be attributed to the gelding being second up from a spell in today’s event.
 
EELLOH- Connections advised Stewards it was the intention to ride the mare further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
NISHIKORI- Put in an awkward stride near the 1350m and became unbalanced. Raced keenly during the middle stages. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened in the home straight failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 6: XXXX DRY Class 2 Handicap 1350 metres
 
SIR WILLIAM BRUCE- Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
WHEELS- Slow to begin.
 
GLASHABEE- Jockey L Tarrant reported that the gelding raced ungenerously during the event.
 
GIULIA- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TAREX- Jockey A Thompson reported that it was not his intention to lead, however after being caught wide he allowed the gelding to stride for to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained during the middle stages. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
HEAVEN AMORE- Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: OPERA QLD SOPRANOS BRC EVENT Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MAYBE THE BEST- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RAYJEN- Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of AIDENSFIELD approaching the 100m when that runner shifted out under hard riding. App. W Peel the rider of AIDENSFIELD was reprimanded as a consequence of this incident.   
 
ENTERPRISE MIA- Over raced when the pace of the race slackened near the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
MY ODDETTE- Began awkwardly. A short distance after the start Jockey Wiggins’ saddle shifted backwards resulting in the mare becoming awkward in its action and losing ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE- Slow to begin.
 
VITAL SOURCE- Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: MULLINS LAWYERS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
IMPOSING BEAU- Tightened for room near the 1000m. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
CASTILE- Tightened for room near the 1000m.
 
MAXCALEMMA- Tightened for room and checked near the 1000m. Near the 600m had to be checked for heels as a result of the pace steadying. Held up for some distance passing the 200m.
 
THE BILLIONAIRE- Began awkwardly. Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 200m.
 
BUNDYANDCOKE- Inconvenienced approached the 1000m. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
TORUN- Tightened for room at the start. Checked to avoid heels near the 1000m.
 
SUPER GORGEOUS- Began awkwardly. Checked to avoid heels near the 1000m.  
 
DERANI- Tightened for room and severely checked near the 1000m.  At a subsequent inquiry Jockey S Collett the rider of THE BILLIONAIRE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that as the rider of the gelding she permitted her mount to shift in under hard riding when insufficiently clear of CASTILE resulting in that runner being tightened and taken in onto IMPOSING BEAU which was in turn taken in tightening the running of DERANI and MAXCALEMMA. In this incident DERANI was severely checked and lost ground and MAXCALEMMA was checked and lost ground. Jockey Collett’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days days to commence at midnight 4.06.22 and to expire at midnight 19.06.22.  Stewards in determining penalty considered that incident to be in the high range, however also took into account Jockey Collett’s prior good record. Near the 600m had to be checked from heels as a result of the pace steadying.
 
 
 
 
Race 9: STRADBROKE SEASON BM85 Handicap 1640 metres
 
TREVELYAN- Slow to begin
 
SHE'S THE GIFT- Connections advised it was the intention to have the mare ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Jockey N Rawiller was fined $200 for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m.  
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT- Slow to begin.
 
SELEQUE- Began awkwardly.
 
ADELASE- Raced wide with cover for the majority.
 
MONTEZ- Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE DARK- Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
