Race 1: LED SUPER SCREENS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1800 metres

BARTHOLOMEU DIAS (GB) – Slow to begin.

BARADE (FR) – Slow to begin.

YOUNGBLOOD – Rider J. Byrne was asked to comment on the gelding’s performance and he indicated that the gelding is more suited to races over longer distances and would have preferred a more genuine tempo to have been set during the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

SNOWFIRE – Shortly after passing the 200m was slightly inconvenienced and made contact with TAVION PRINCE when BARTLOLOMEU DIAS shifted to the outside of CASINO MONDIAL to obtain clear running.

COGNAC (IRE) – Connections advised that it is their intention to lead on the gelding. Ridden accordingly. Wide during the early stages.

Race 2: TAB Class 6 Handicap 1400 metres

BARNEY’S LAW – At the 1200m, commenced to pull hard and became awkwardly placed on the heels of STOLEN JADE. Jockey H. Bowman was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.

PALLADAS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

FRANCESCO GUARDI (IRE) – Approaching the 200m, shifted to the inside to obtain clear running.

SEE MARIE – Slow to begin.

STOLEN JADE – Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was fined $300 under AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight.


Race 3: TREASURY BRISBANE THE PHOENIX 1500 metres

This race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE required farrier attention prior to arriving in the mounting enclosure and on arrival at the barriers.

MISHANI SPARTAN – Slow to begin.

SANDPAPER – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

RINGMASTER – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in over the concluding stages.

FOUR MILE LANE – Checked to avoid heels and blundered leaving the 1200m. At a subsequent Stewards’ inquiry regarding the incident near the 1200m, Stewards found jockey B. Stewart guilty under AR131(a) of careless riding in that he allowed his mount CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE to shift in when insufficiently clear of the aforementioned runners causing both to be checked. Given Mr Stewart’s poor record in relation to this rule, Stewards suspended jockey Stewart for a total of twenty (20) days beginning midnight the 11th of June until midnight the 1st of July 2022. Jockey Stewart was advised of his right to an internal review.

POLITICAL DEBATE – Checked when racing in restricted room after leaving the 1200m, then shifted wide on the track and raced wide for the remainder.

MOUNT BRILLIANT – Raced wide for the majority.

WEST OF AFRICA – Raced wide for the majority.

CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE – Leaving the 1200m, shifted in onto POLITICAL DEBATE and then onto FOUR MILE LANE and had to be steadied from heels. Checked near the 300m when trying to obtain clear running when there was insufficient room.


Race 4: CITY PROPERTY SERVICES BILL CARTER STAKES 1200 metres

EXO LADY – Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

MINKS STAR – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.

PENTHOUSE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider D. Moor when asked to comment on the performance of the filly stated that she was disappointing and raced flat. Trainer M. Dale reported to Stewards that it is now his intention to send the filly for a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying signs of mild heat stress.

SAWEETIE – Became unbalanced and lost ground when awkwardly placed at heels near the 1100m. Thereafter, raced keenly in the middle stages.

MAID TO FIT – Slow to begin.


Race 5: 5 MADAME SASS LIGHTNING HANDICAP 1000 metres

DOCTOR ZOUS – Laid out rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed on heels.

CONTEMPTUOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

KOSCIUSKO – Slow to begin.


Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS NATIONAL CLASSIC 1600 metres

NUDGE – Raced wide in the early stages.

KIKU – Laid outwards over the final 150m.

ATISHU (NZ) – Raced wide with no cover throughout.

BELLE PLAISIR (NZ) – Lost its off hind plate in running.

YAMAZAKI – Overraced early and continued to overrace and steadied from heels near the 1000m, and shifted wider and as a result raced wide from that point onwards.

OUR INTRIGUE (NZ) – Laid out when making the turn into the straight.


Race 7: NUTURF SPEAR CHIEF HANDICAP 1500 metres

KUBRICK – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.

LIGHTNING JACK (NZ) – Hampered on jumping.

BONHAM – Hampered on jumping.

CHARMMEBABY (NZ) – Pulled hard in the middle stages getting its head up on a number of occasions.

TOBILICIOUS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. On returning to the enclosure, the gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion that the gelding has bled, it will incur a 3-month ban from racing and will be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.

VINCO – Laid outwards over the final 150m.

IRISH SONGS – Raced wide and overraced throughout.



Race 8: ASCOT GREEN MORETON CUP 1200 metres

KEMENTARI – Raced three wide throughout. Momentarily hampered near the 350m.

BALLER – Approaching the 350m, became awkward and bumped with NICCANOVA.

NICCANOVA – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Bumped with BALLER near the 350m.

SHOOTING FOR GOLD – Reared and lost ground at the start. Held up in the early stages of the straight, and near the 200m had to be taken outwards for clear running.

HILO – Slow to begin.

LETZBEGLAM – Momentarily held up for clear running at the top of the straight.


Race 9: CHANNEL 7 QUEENSLAND OAKS 2200 metres

BARB RAIDER – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

GYPSY GODDESS (NZ) – Raced wide from the 1000m.

GLINT OF HOPE (JPN) – Tightened for room and had to be checked at the start.

HONEYCREEPER – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and checked shortly after the start.

GIN MARTINI (NZ) – Heavily bumped and lost ground at the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

FESTIVAL DANCER – A post race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained lacerations to her near hind and was treated on-course.

DYNASTIES – Tightened for room and had to be checked at the start. Raced wide throughout.

VERONA (NZ) – Co-trainers C. Maher and D. Eustace were fined $300 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Inconvenienced and checked shortly after the start.

BELLE SAVOIR – Inconvenienced and forced wider shortly after the start. Approaching the 500m, after being held up, then had to steadied from heels.

SMIRK (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.

TERANGA – Began awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with ARAVENE.

LE VILLI (NZ) – Jockey T. Clark dropped his whip near the 150m.

ROSIE IMPACT – After being bumped on the hindquarters, shifted out shortly after that start. Raced wide during the early stages.

CUPID’S KISS – Shortly after the start, was placed in restricted room and had to be steadied. Inclined to lay out until passing the winning post on the first occasion. Had to be restrained from the heels near the 1600m. Raced in restricted room when tiring between runners when rounding the home turn.


Race 10: NOVA 106.9 QUEENSLAND DAY STAKES 1200 metres

INGRATIATING – Slow to begin.

RELEASE THE BEANS – Raced wide throughout.

HAMLET VON SNITZEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ZAVABOOM – Slow to begin. Commenced to hang out badly from the 900m and had to be restrained out of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer T. Gollan was informed that the gelding will be required to barrier trial prior to racing again.

DEVASTATING – Raced wide throughout.

NORD LYON – Approaching the 700m, had to be restrained from heels and as a result shifted wider and raced wide from that point onwards.

STELLAR MAGIC – Began awkwardly.
