GENERAL
Jockey C Spry who did not attend today’s race meeting due to acceptable reasons was replaced as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1. THE CNW MAILMAN EXPRESS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
SAFDIE – Raced wide for the majority.
LATIN DAYZ – Raced wide for the majority.
SEVEN YEAR REWARD - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 2. THE CNW CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000m
BEL’S DESIRE – Began awkwardly. Crowded by another runner which laid in near the 500m.
WORDS UNSPOKEN – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
BIG TALK - Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted wider soon after the start to avoid the kickback in running. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey B Richardson reported the gelding was not comfortable on the sand surface.
ROYO – Laid in near the 500m crowding a runner to its inside.
GIGASTAR - Raced wide for the majority.
HARRY ROCKET – Jockey G Walters was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip on a runner not in contention.
 
Race 3. THE CNW QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
MOVE BY – Slowly away. Jockey K Ballard was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip on a runner not in contention.
WISHNOWSKY - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
ZOOMARATTA - Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. Buffeted between runners soon after jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
RAPID STYLE – Raced ungenerously passing the 800m.
SINGLE MALT - Raced wide for the majority. Jockey T Hill reported the gelding was not comfortable on the sand surface.
MISS BOUCHARD - Raced wide for the majority.
COUNT MICHELIN - Raced wide for the majority.
MOPAR - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 4. THE CNW ELECTRICAL WHOLESALERS OPEN HANDICAP 1450m
TEDDY MERCURY – Jockey D Ballard who was to be overweight was replaced by K Ballard as the rider of the gelding. Jockey D Ballard was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). Raced tight with another runner in the middle stages.
LEVEL EIGHT – Slowly away after dwelling as the start was effected. Restrained off heels when over-racing in the middle stages.
DON’T DESPAIR - Raced tight with another runner in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
FINGERTIPS - Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
Race 5. THE CNW BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1450m
After loading had commenced Starter Mr M Cummings contacted Stewards to advise that MYOLA MILLY had been loaded into an incorrect barrier and would need to be backed out and re-loaded. After a prolonged attempt to re-load the mare, which typically proceeds to the barriers early, and is loaded prior to other runners arriving in order to avoid delay, Mr Cummings again contacted Stewards with a view to scratching the mare. Simultaneously, the mare entered the barrier and Mr Cummings advised it had loaded and immediately dispatched the field. As the mare had not been officially scratched and Stewards had not contacted the on-course announcer or the TAB to make any official announcement, MYOLA MILLY was declared a runner. Mr Cummings was nonetheless admonished by Stewards and advised to review his starting practices. Jockey D Ballard was reminded of his responsibility to be aware of his allocated barrier.

KING LANDON – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 6. COME SEE THE CREW @ CNW CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m
LORD GREYSTOKE – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
MAGNATE – Began awkwardly.
LE FORCE - Buffeted between runners near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
FAVRA – Raced wide for the majority.
SHIVKANI – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 7. THANKS AGAIN CNW RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1200m
PARLOUR was a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 5.11pm after refusing to load. Trainer T Parry was advised the mare will be required to obtain 1 further barrier certificate prior to next start. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on PARLOUR be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the betting ticket:
