GENERAL
 
Due to Jockey R Fradd encountered a transport delay he was unable to make his engagement in race one and was subsequently replaced by Jockey J Taylor.
 
Jockey B Pengelly had transport difficulties and was replaced on his engagement in race two by Jockey A Sewell.
 
Race 1: KNAUF GYPSUM PTY LTD Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
IN CLOSE REACH – Slow to begin.
 
MR TANGLES – Raced wide over the early stages. Taken wider briefly near the 900m.  Commenced to tire from the 600m. Jockey A Sewell advised the gelding had struggled throughout the race and could offer no further explanation for its performance. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Trainer D Rideout was advised MR TANGLES would require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing.
 
RIVERSIDE SPECIAL –  Inclined to over race for the majority. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
TWISTED WHISKEY – Laid out in the early stages.
 
BRIGHT FLAMES – Slow to begin then was tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 2: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
MR ENCORE – R Wiggins reported his mount attempted to jump a section of the track near the 900m mark. After inspecting the track it was established a drain cover was situated on the inside of the track and the horse had shied at it. The drain was subsequently covered to alleviate the issue. Jockey R Wiggins was fined $200 under the provisions of AR211(1) in that he returned to scale in excess of .5kg  of his allocated weight.
 
UNDER THE CAP – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A Sewell was reprimanded for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m mark, one more than permitted pursuant to AR132(7)(a()(ii).
 
ALEACO –. Over raced in the early stages.
 
VALTINO – Raced keen in the early stages.
 
 
Race 3: GIRLS GRAMMAR ROCKHAMPTON RACEDAY 18 JUNE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden H 1050 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when BEAN A BAD GIRL proved difficult to load.
 
The start was further delayed when multiple runners became fractious.
 
DIVINE COURAGE – Fractious prior to the start. Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier partition and was slow to begin as a result. Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of DIVINE COURAGE. Of concern to the Stewards was the tactics adopted between the 700m and the 300m. Stewards took evidence from both jockey R Fradd and trainer T Edmonds in relation to the matter and further ordered the gelding to undergo a post-race veterinary examination. The examination failed to disclose any abnormalities. Stewards subsequently adjourned the matter to obtain and examine all relevant betting activity. An inquiry will be held at a time and date to be fixed.
 
BOLD FACT – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Fractious prior to the jump. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer K Smyth advised that since entering his stable the gelding had been working well and in his opinion had trialled impressively in the lead up to todays event. He further added that based off these factors he expected the horse to be forward showing on this occasion.  
 
BEAN A BAD GIRL – Began awkwardly and raced keen in the early stages. Improving onto heels near the 900m and had to be steadied.  Laid inwards in the early stages of the home straight.
 
METALLIC REIGN – Fractious prior to the start.
 
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres
 
BARNEY'S BLAZE – Laid inwards in the home straight. Bumped with WENEIRI near the 300m when attempting to obtain clear running and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
WENEIRI – Bumped with BARNEY’S BLAZE near the 300m.
 
BRAZETTI – Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
REDDISUN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BORNEES LAD – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
THE ABYSS (NZ) – Fractious prior to the start. Jockey M Murphy was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
 
Race 5: TATTERSALLS CUP SUNDAY 26 JUNE Class 6 Handicap 1100 metres
 
LET'S PARTY MARTY – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
AVOCADO SUNSET – Began awkwardly.  
 
LE FIGARO – Slow to begin. Raced wide over the early stages.Raced ungenerously near the 900m and made contact with THE CRUISER.   
 
COLD HARD FACT – Improved onto heels near the 800m and as a result had to shift ground outwards to obtain clear running.  Apprentice I Rabjones was reprimanded for using the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
PATROLLING – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 300m became awkward in its action and was eased down by its rider. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a bilateral bleed and was subsequently stood down for three months and will be required to complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards pursuant to AR79(4). 
 
THE CRUISER – Slow to begin. Bumped at the 900m.
 
 
Race 6: WINTER RACING CARNIVAL 2022 OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Began awkwardly. Held up from the 400m until the 200m.
 
MODELKA – Over raced throughout the early and middle stages.
 
BARACHIEL – Crowded on jumping. Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
MOCIAL CHIEF – Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
SPRING CREEK – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 7: NEWMARKET RACEDAY FRIDAY 8 JULY BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R Fradd (DUBAI MOON) to view the Stewards footage of the final 300m of the race. After viewing the footage Jockey R Fradd elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared on the Judges placings.
 
CARLIN TREND – Over raced early and middle stages. Laid outwards over the final 300m.
 
THE MINIVAN – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
KOTABHARU  - Slow to begin.
 
EXALTED – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.
 
DUBAI MOON – Jumped away awkwardly. Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 300m when DUBAI MOON had to be restrained after being buffeted between CARLIN TREND (J Molloy) and BETTER ASK ROY (M Murphy). After hearing from the respective jockeys and reviewing the Stewards footage M Murphy was issued a reprimand pursuant to AR131(a). When considering penalty Stewards took into account the contributing factors including CARLIN TREND shifting out marginally and THE MINIVAN shifting inwards marginally as BETTER ASK ROY went to improve its position.

BETTER ASK ROY – Shifted inwards approaching the 300m when attempting to gain clear racing room buffeting with DUBAI MOON on its inside.
 
 
Race 8: ROCKHAMPTON CUP SATURDAY 9 JULY Class 3 Plate1300 metres
 
BOLD PEDRO – Laid inwards in the home straight. Tightened for room and had to be restrained over the concluding stages when RUBY’S LAD lay inwards and ALLANON lay outwards.
 
RUBY'S LAD – Jockey J Stanley advised his mount wanted to hang inwards over the final 400m. Laid inwards over the final stages tightening BOLD PEDRO on its inside.
 
CHESTO'S DREAM – Raced keen early and middle stages.
 
LINGJUN TOPGUN – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
MANIFICA – Declared a late scratching at 12.33pm on veterinary advice. Trainer S. O’Shea was advised the gelding requires a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
 
MATADOR – Slow to begin.
 
MUSTARI – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
ALLANON – Stewards accepted trainer R Vale’s explanation for the late rider declaration of J Molloy. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m was forced wider on the track when LINGJUN TOPGUN (J Taylor) shifted outwards when insufficiently clear. Jockey J Taylor was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR131(a).
