GENERAL
Stewards permitted that late scratching’s of ROMAN DAGGER and JACK BE LUCKY, both trained by C & K Geran, who were scratched in the interim period prior to scratching’s being finalised.
 
Stewards permitted W Peel to ride in races two and three without claiming her full allowance. W Peel was fined $200 under the provisions of AR143(14). In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of Apprentice Peels record and that no other claiming apprentices available at the weight.
 
Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden
Plate 1400 metres
 
Better Class –Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Passing the 1000m elected to shift out and race three wide while racing ungenerously. Ran off rounding the home turn. Apprentice J Cornish reported that her mount hung out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer J Wallace was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
Bokuden – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Like A Lark – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and shifted out contacting ISSHEGREY. Jockey R Wiggings was fined $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions, two more then permitted.
 
 
Eugene Clare – Slow into stride. Shifted out approaching the 600m carrying MISS BOUCHARD wider on the track.
 
Isshegrey – Contacted on entering the home straight after LIKE A LARK shifted out to improve.
 
Miss Bouchard – Carried wider on the track passing the 600m. Jockey L Allen was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions, one more then permitted.
 
Perfect Night Out – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 2: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
Yangari- Slow to begin. Shifted out shortly after jumping away. Rider reported that his mount wasn’t suited to the slow tempo of the race.
 
Critical Thinker – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Mon Cadeau- Laid out in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
Acadian Forest – Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey G Cartwright was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions, one more then permitted.
 
Allberin – Slow to begin.
 
Saint Martin – After travelling wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and take up a position near the rail behind the leaders passing the 800m.
 
Roy's Road – Momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away after being carried in by SAINT MARTIN. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Shadyvale Storm – Jockey L Allen was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions, one more then permitted.
 
Calathiel – Hampered and had to be restrained passing the 1500m when racing in restricted room. Apprentice J Lloyd, rider of SAINT MARTIN who shifted ground to the outside of CALATHIEL, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mount when they shift ground in future.
 
Scarred For Life – Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
Zoff The Boss – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 3: TAB VENUE MODE Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Hello Handsome (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to avoid the weakening CALCAREOUS.
 
Calcareous – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride and take up a forward position near the 1000m. When questioned regarding tactics adopted in todays event, Jockey Collett stated that after being slow to begin, her mount commenced to race ungenerously with the addition of blinkers and as such she allowed her mount to stride forward in an attempt to settle. She added when placed under pressure passing the 500m her mount weakened noticeably. Trainer L Abbott was advised the CALCAREOUS would require a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
Ronlee Gal – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
Disco Beatz – Shortly after jumping became awkwardly placed on heels when attempting to obtain cover. Laid in throughout the event.
 
Divenire – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, Apprentice Peel stated that passing the 1200m her mount changed strides on a number of occasions and lost significant ground when being restrained. She added that in her opinion DIVENIRE may have resented the kick back and may not have appreciated the poly surface.
 
Race 4: IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE QTIS
Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 1100 metres
 
Starzam – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and attempted to shift out to improve. Passing the 300m was held up on the heels of TOP BIRD and was shifted back in to a position on the rail. Passing the 200m after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of TAORMINA DUCHESS, shifted out to obtain clear running. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
Jay Peak Kitten – Approaching the 200m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KISS GOODBYE which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J Lloyd, rider of KISS GOODBYE, was suspended for a period of 10 days under the provision of AR131(a) to commence midnight 18 July 2022 to midnight 28 July 2022.
 
Kiss Goodbye – Rider advised that from the wide barrier and with speed drawn to his inside he elected to restrain his mount on jumping and shifted in to obtain a position closer to the rail. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: BOOK YOUR WEDDING TRACKSIDE Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Enterprise Mia – Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Gauntlet – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Gentle Prince - Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
Inside Information – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Alderman – Passing the 1200m commenced to over race when being restrained to obtain cover behind DAULET TAI PANAZIZ.
 
Count The Coin - Passing the 1500m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of COULDN’T REFUSE, which shifted in. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
Blacklog (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Red Light Roxanne – Slow to begin. Rider reported that after obtaining a position behind the lead in the early stages, ended up racing further back after ALDERMAN restrained to allow DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ to cross. She added that her mount was disadvantaged by the slow pace of the race and after obtaining clear running in the straight her mount responded well and ran to the line in a positive manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
Quotant – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 2150 metres
 
Khaalis (IRE) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Go Millo – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Recall Events – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 8: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Plutocrat – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Love Yers All – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Zaiteki – Passing the 800m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of PLUTOCRAT, which shifted in and away from PARKO, which shifted in. Jockey Cartwright, rider of PARKO, was reminded of her obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
Daring Belle – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 9: RIVER 94.9FM RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Dare To Share – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer P Duff stated the Colt was back in class and was better suited over the shorter distance. He added that DARE TO SHARE had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and was not surprised by the performance.
 
Archery Butts – Laid out rounding the home turn. Became awkward in its action passing the 200m and was eased down. Rider reported that after his mount laid out rounding the turn then commenced to lay in on straightening. He added he became concerned with the action of ARCHERY BUTTS passing the 200m and as such eased his mount out of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg and coughed on examination. Trainer P Jenkins was advised that a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination to be furnished prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
Mr Brose – Held up for clear running passing the 300m when awkwardly placed on heels of the weakening ARCHERY BUTTS.
 
Hodgson – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Reliable Ruby (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
