Race 1: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL TOOWOOMBA Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres

SASANQUAS- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after casting a near-fore plate on exiting the mounting yard and was found to be lame and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:42pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deduction applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:42pm:

0cents on the dollar for the win
1cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
2cents in the dollar for 2nd place
1cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Trainer J Harris was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

FREEFICA- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B Baker advised connections would now consider the mares immediate racing future.

DREAM DECISION- Obliged to restrain and shift in contacting the inside running rail passing the 600m after being inconvenienced by another runner.

App I Rabjones was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when sifting ground. Obliged to restrain and shift out away from heels when a runner to the inside shifted out when insufficiently clear passing the 150m. Raced wide for the majority.

MORATA- Raced wide for the majority. Shifted out under riding passing the 150m when insufficiently clear of VINTAGE causing that runner to be restrained and shift out bumping with FREEDOM AVENUE which became awkwardly placed on heels and checked as a result. Jockey S Bogenhuber pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) with her license to ride in races being subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 19th June 2022 up to and including 28th June 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Bogenhubers guilty plea and excellent record in relation to the rule to be mitigating factors.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed when App A Patis, rider of 4th place getter FREEDOM AVENUE, lodged an objection against 3rd place getter VINTAGE (App Rabjones) alighting alleged interference near the 150m. After taking evidence from the rider involved and connections of the two runners Stewards determined that passing the 150m VINTAGE had been obliged to restrain and shift out and away from the heels of MORATA, which had shifted out under riding, and made contact with FREEDOM AVENUE causing that runner to become awkwardly placed on heels and being obliged to check. As the interference could not be attributed to any conscious or careless action by App Rabjones or any action by VINTAGE but rather was caused by the outward shift of MORATA (5th place getter), Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
