Fractious prior to the start. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow as a result. Raced ungenerously through the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance jockey N Day advised he had received a nice run but the gelding had placed him in difficulty over the early stages. He further added he believed the gelding would take benefit from the second up run
